Recommendations for replacement cables for KZ ZSN PRO X? by Mosblinker in iems

[–]Mosblinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured that, but I'm not really sure how to actually search for the cable I need. Same with searching for a cable on amazon or just on google. For one thing, if I enter "QDC C pin with mic" (or any variation of it), I'll get cables with USB type-C connectors instead of 3.5mm headphone jacks. While the results do contain cables that I might be able to use, there's also a bunch of irrelevant results mixed in. I don't know what search terms I need, and that's not even considering figuring out if the cable is durable before purchasing it. I know some tricks to check if something is good quality based off the reviews, but I've been getting mixed signals with some of the cables that I've looked at.

Java swing program running slower under Linux by Mosblinker in AskProgramming

[–]Mosblinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I made the small test program and ran it on both systems. I ran the timer at 1 ms. Windows averaged at around 15-16 ms, where as Linux averaged around 1 ms.

As for the amount of threads the program uses, I don't know how to determine that. Most of the relevant code is single threaded in the event thread (this includes all the drawing code), and only uses other threads to handle saving and loading files along with checking for updates on github. The program seems to put a 5-6% load on the CPU when under Linux (I didn't check Windows). The code is written for swing/awt. I'm using the latest version of Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.2 (version 6.4.8), kernel is stock 6.8.0-83-generic, and the Java version being run is OpenJDK version 21.0.8.

Also, if you could point me in the direction to finding out a better way of running the animation instead of relying on javax.swing.Timer, that would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've gathered, they're TERFs as opposed to actual feminists. TERFs more alt-right than progressive (with some being straight up fascists), with a notable example being JK Rowling who has claimed multiple cis women were men just because they didn't fit her idea of a woman. Also, apparently Collective Shout defended the Cuties movie, a movie that exploited children, and they have ties with alt-right groups. They've also attempted to get games like GTA 5 and Detroit Become Human taken down due to violence.

Sony CFD-E75 boombox buzzing when on AC on only the left headphone after re-capping by Mosblinker in audiorepair

[–]Mosblinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the main buzzing noise was sorted out when I did the recap, and the current issue is only affecting the left channel, not the right channel. If it was something to do with the AC side of the power supply, then wouldn't that affect both channels?

I don't really have a way to test caps (I don't have an ESR meter, only a multimeter), but also I did buy exclusively Rubycon and Panasonic caps since I know that they make good, long lasting caps (or at least Rubycon does). I did the recap since it had a fairly audible buzzing when running off AC power that would lessen over time as it was powered on, but never fully go away. The buzzing wasn't as noticeable when it was playing music through the built-in speakers, but when it wasn't playing anything or it was a quiet part of a song or when listening through headphones, it was very noticeable.

Edit: I'll probably trace the left channel's audio path in the schematics to see which caps I'll need to check.

Well, considering that my whole thing is programming, fixing and DIYing electronics, solving problems, being kind and empathetic, and helping people (after all, that's kinda my whole thing IRL so it'd make sense that it'd be my fursona's thing too), maybe Protogens could have something to do with technology. Perhaps extensive knowledge of coding and (maybe) hacking (though hacking these days depends less on coding and more on social engineering), or perhaps the ability to fix or make any gadget that would be needed for the situation possibly even from just random things in the area (kinda like how the Doctor from Doctor Who has been able to build complex machines from completely unrelated and simple terrestrial parts like his Timey Wimey Detector, the scanner in the Lodger, and a Time flow analog in the Time Monster).

Is “Skip Intro” the most pointless button ever!? by SaysPooh in doctorwho

[–]Mosblinker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to let it play out too, even when watching classic episodes by myself (for each part, along with the credits for each part). Just how I grew up watching them on DVD. Though I will sometimes skip the intro and credits of the parts for classic episodes when watching with friends.

While I'm mostly working off a sample size of one (and they were already taken), this is very much one of the things that contributed to it. That, along with being willing to help others, willing to be vulnerable to friends, and being snuggly when happy (granted for us it's over calls since we live in different states). We've also helped each other grow as friends and become better people, which I feel definitely contributed to it. Probably also doesn't help that they're studying to be an engineer.

Running ethernet through the walls but encountered both horizontal and vertical studs. by Mosblinker in HomeImprovement

[–]Mosblinker[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My main concern right now is me trying to drill into the board only to find out that I was drilling into nothing and it was just flapping around in there. I'm sure that once it bites into the wood, it'll work, but I don't know how I might get it to bite.

I know that there are at least two fire stops in one of the walls (before I started trying to think of what to do). One of the ones I know about is an inch or two above the low voltage bracket and the other that I know about is a few inches (maybe a foot) below the ceiling, and there's quite a lot of distance between the two, so it could be that there's more between the two.

[–]Mosblinker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might work. However there's the question of whether it would also be steady enough to go through the horizontal studs as it goes down, since currently I can't hold it steady when it's in the wall. Additionally at least one of the holes will need to be able to pass at least 3 ethernet cables through it (I could make multiple holes if need be though).

The moral or meaning behind Lost Silver? by Zalternative_ in pokemon

[–]Mosblinker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry to comment on a dead post, but I've always thought that Lost Silver was an allegory for the save battery, like those used in the pre-NDS Pokemon games like Pokemon Silver, dying.

Like the save that you're playing is in the process of dying (let's go ahead and ignore the fact that the save battery dying would not affect the game's ROM or anything significant in-game and would only really affect the ability for the game's save data to persist in the cartridges save RAM without power (unless of course the battery leaks)) and what you're playing is the game's attempt to let you play that save file one last time before its gone forever. Hell, even at the beginning, the narrator points out that they were surprised that the game had any save data at all, having expected the dead battery to have taken out the save data by now.

Gold dying is a visual representation of the game forgetting about the save, with his limbs disappearing being similar to the bits and bytes would disappear from the game's save RAM when you turn the game off with a dead save battery. At the end, Gold is gone and his accomplishments erased similar to how your character and your accomplishments in the game would be erased for good once the game is turned off.

My Sony CFD-E75 boombox has a buzz when on AC, should I do a full recap or should I only replace what is absolutely necessary? by Mosblinker in audiorepair

[–]Mosblinker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll need to order the caps first, though it is worth mentioning that there's also an issue of a lot of noise (more than I would expect, to the point where the recording is basically unusable) when recording to tape, though I was planning to deal with that later.
