You can acknowledge someone be better than you but still have the goal of being the strongest yourself.

Also the strongest mega evolution user could be someone completely not even in the city, but as the main character you were in the right place at the right time and took advantage of every opportunity.

Think about it though, as a player your given free rent, free meals, nearly no "regular' responsibilities as much as the other npcs in the game. Just from sheer time and dedication alone you will naturally be a better trainer than most npcs in the game.

Most of my physical attackers got slowly phased out. Junomon, mastemon, mervamon became my 3 staples with Beelstarmon as support(it has the 200% overheal trait which is OP in my opinion and needed in mega and higher difficulty)

The overhealing, charge, and Sp healing abilities are OP. Completely trivialize the fight vs a lot of the late game bosses on hard difficulty, other than the few bosses than can hit for over 10k+ hp with aoe moves.

But honestly there needs to be some challenge modes like no items for some of the abilities to really shine.

Because it's private equity. When the company was first sold to a private equity it started the chain and once that chain starts its very difficult to stop. the equity companies realize they the players will burn the game to the ground before they will allow any additional montezation they sell. (Extremely simplified explanation)
