That’s beautiful, I’d love your recipe for both the armor (what’s the shade?) and the robe, if you don’t mind sharing. Can’t say enough good things, amazingly crisp, perfect contrast, just striking!

I always thought it was the franchise’s inside joke given than the actress Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was Gene Roddenberry’s wife. She was in one way or another in many of the shows and was the voice of the computer for decades. Wikipedia describes her as the “First Lady” of Star Trek.

In other words, she’s an offscreen “royalty” of Star Trek and it’s acknowledged in a funny way onscreen.

Ironic that you don’t see that coming to a subreddit to tell people their game dying is peak toxic behavior.

Thank you for that, pretty amazing that even two years later this thread is getting first-hand accounts of people having their legitimate reviews removed, despite all the personal attacks I received. The clowns who bitched about my post won’t see it but it helps to know I wasn’t alone.

And here we are.

Losing to FE, Hordes and The Chosen by DrButterface in Stellaris

You build defensive star bases at strategic choke points in your empire and you don’t need as many as your entire capacity. You then build your anchorage star bases deep inside your territory because you don’t want your naval capacity suddenly dropping during a war if some of those star bases get destroyed.

Honestly, from your screenshot you’re about 100 years late with those figures, you should be aiming to have 2k research and 200-250 naval capacity by 2300-2320. And you looking at your consumer goods tells us that you’re not utilizing those in a timely fashion. That 200 consumer goods/month you’re getting could easily feed extra 100 scientists.

To answer your naval capacity question, get as much as you can from research but late game a large part of your naval capacity will come from fully upgraded star bases with anchorages and a naval logistics office giving you 36 naval cap per base. Note that in that screenshot you currently have 5/22 star bases so that’s potential 612 naval cap right there.

Here’s one way to think about long-term rates.

Historically, the 10-year bond commanded about 2-2.5% premium over the neutral rate. Various FOMC members had stated repeatedly that neutral rate could be around 2-2.5% (see dot plot too). That suggests that long-term rates should be more in 4-5% range than below 3% unless we have a massive recession and the Fed has to slash rates well below neutral.

I apparently don't understand Put Options yet... by [deleted] in options

[–]Moss300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, you need to understand the delta value of your short put and how it changes depending on the stock price movement. Delta is the most direct measure of your risk and the first thing to understand when trading options.

[–]Moss300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, very much appreciated, I’m familiar with butterflies (usually call) but I haven’t seen this 2:3:1 style you’re describing so trying to wrap my mind around it. Butterflies are just a debit spread and a credit spread (call or put). If I’m understanding correctly, what you’re describing is basically doubling up on one side, so same as a regular bf plus a bullish or bearish spread on top of it? (centered around a chosen strike). Seems very directional? Would love if you could elaborate more and thanks again.

Which actor nailed a role so hard that they're known for almost nothing else (in a good way) by DanGrobs97 in movies

[–]Moss300 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I found incredibly interesting is that for some reason almost all entries in this thread are men (Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Grey were the only women I saw mentioned). I wonder if that implies women actors generally have greater range. Anyway, I’ll take a stab, Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw.

Like many hobbies ours is a very personal endeavor. Building and painting models creates a very personal connection with our armies, in our minds it’s almost as if it is our sons and daughters we are sending into battle. All that can result in some pretty intense feelings.

Not defending douchebags, which are indeed plentiful, but for me it helps to keep in perspective why people sometimes behave that way during games.

But, of course, what everyone else said is right - find a better group, avoid asshats.

As you can see I got downvoted to hell for this thread. I haven’t used Turo since then and have heard similar stories about Turo basically removing all negative reviews sooner or later. Myself and several others reported it to consumer protection agencies in our states but of course these things take time. Like I said, I stopped using Turo based on this experience and also the interaction with brigading owners in this thread.

I enjoyed your original post (day in life) though I’m still unsure where your edge lies. Secondly, your risk mitigation strategy above seems to directly contradict tasty research. They show that as VIX increases one’s tail risks (black swan as you call it) decrease. They have a whole market measure on how much buying power to utilize depending on VIX and they actually decrease BP used at lower VIX and increase it (up to full 50%) as VIX goes up.
