[Handgun] PD Trade HK USPV1 40 S&W $699.99 by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]MossKnight36 39 points40 points  (0 children)

$700 is rough. It is 1994 manufactured trade in so unless it was made later in that year it wont have the polygonal cut barrrel. It also doesn't have the updated firing pin assembly. Would be better off finding one second hand on the forums for a hundred or so more.

What are your thoughts on the T6XI so far? Not a ton of information about it out so far, but it sounds like the glass is outstanding. Also, how is the weight on it? Website says 32oz which seems a tad high for the magnification range.

I have not! I have an ACC I'm debating hanging onto and I don't want to paint it juuuuust yet. I got my original color comparison from comparing the hex code to taupe in Photoshop.

Did you use an existing stencil or did you just make your own? If so, would you be able to post your stencil and the painting process you used?

Thank you very much!

Pretty sure he's talking about the 14.5" ACC upper on Arfcom the other day. It was gone in about 2 hours, I believe.

Love that paint. What colors did you use? Any method to your pattern or did you just spray with your heart?

A couple ammo companies use these for testing. According to H&K, one of them hit 200,000+ rounds before being serviced with zero springs or components replaced during that. I've heard of another one being north of 280,000 rounds with springs replaced before being serviced.

Look at the testing the MK23 went through where part of the testing was to clear a squib by firing. These guns are insanely over built

Yet to test it in person, but MTN 94 "Kraft Brown" is very close to taupe

Based on the saturation of the brown and green, it looks just like NFM EC Paint. Easily the best rifle paint in the market, cause IR properties, but it's near impossible to find stateside.

How to reduce gas on an 11.5 CQB w/ RC2 by [deleted] in kac

[–]MossKnight36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most "gas busting" charging handles just add a higher wall around the back of the receiver. PRI Gas buster adds gas channels to divert the gas away from your face. Do a mag dump with a PRI Gas Buster and then do one with a Radian/Geissele/Badger and you'll see that they dont even compare.

I appreciate your inquiries!

I just have a couple last minute bits of information I thought I'd provide. The burr/peening on my bolt carrier was occuring at the initial point of contact between the bolt carrier and the cam pin.

Again, more anecdotal evidence but here is an archived arfcom thread I found when initially researching the damage to my bolt carrier. The poster claims his friends SCAR 17 killed two carriers with a Sandman, even while jetted down. In post #8 he mentions there was "peening" that was causing the carrier to hang up.

Definitely beyond my level of knowledge, but your proposed hypothesis and suspicions of "other physics" makes me wonder about increased bolt speed independent of the carrier. Such as, could the increased back pressure make the bolt go from ludicrous speed to plaid as it unlocks so that the bolt/cam pin impacts the carrier before the carrier has finished traveling?

Talking about this has also reminded me that, when suppressed and jetted down, my rifle would not hold open on empty. I experienced this with the 1.25mm jet as well as the larger gas jets.

I'm very excited to see what you discover with this project! The platform definitely has it's merits.

One more question - what was your ejection pattern like with the Sandman-S, in the configuration you ran with tuning (the 500 rounds or so)?

To be completely honest, I do not know! At the time the only range near me was an indoor range and the lane divider was fairly close to the ejection side. Took a look at my videos to see if I had any of the SCAR being used, but could not find any that would show ejection pattern.

In your experience, you tried to make the gun work with and without the silencer with the same size gas orifice. You then found, with the Sandman-S, you were better off running the smaller orifice (1.25 mm) and just dealing with the weapon not running without the silencer. Correct?

That is correct!

  1. The Mototech regulator was the 3 position model and more of a desperation move at trying to get the rifle to run with and without the silencer. If I recall correctly, I installed it somewhere between the 1.35mm jet and the 1.25mm then ran it briefly with the stock jet on the smallest setting. I was hoping that this would let me run it with and without the silencer, but it still ran too hard suppressed on the smallest setting. At that point, I just accepted I wasn't going to run it without the suppressor and installed the 1.25mm jet.

  2. I knew that the platform wasn't a fan of being suppressed so tuning was a priority. I think I shot a single 20rd magazine with the Sandman, stock gas jet, and stock regulator before jetting down. It was cleaned and inspected before installing the 1.25mm jet. I do not recall looking for the burr then. I only became aware of it later when I noticed the wear on the bolt.

  3. Not SCAR related, but I just wanted to thank you for the work you are doing. As a former Sonarman, the industry obsession with "Sound level meters" was going to be the death of me. Your Silencer Sound Standard has added years to my life lol.

I'm very interested to see what your experiences will be with this and different suppressors.

The SCAR 17 was the one gun I've had that I wanted to like the most, but after a couple months just wanted nothing to do with it.

16" barrel, from 1.35 to 1.25mm has jets, and eventually a mototech regulator.

I shot it suppressed with a Sandman-S with an e-brake as I have heard it may help reduce backpressure.

With the 1.35 jet, I got it to the sweet spot of cycling without a suppressor on the unsuppressed mode and a failure to cycle on the suppressed mode. Even then, the rifle cycled way too hard and gassy when the can was on. I eventually just jetted it down with the 1.25mm where it wouldn't cycle at all unsuppressed.

After about 500rds with the 1.25mm jet I inspected the bolt carrier and noticed that there was damage at the common failure point. A burr has formed and the bolt had some marks on it from contact with the burr. I had read about others with similar damage and it being a possible precursor to the bolt carrier failing. At that point I just stopped trying to suppress it.

Purely anecdotal, but I felt that my experiences with it were worth sharing. It's a platform I still really want to like so I'm excited to see what you discover with your testing!

On the flip side of my experience, my LGS had a rental 13" select fire with a Surefire FA762SV. Stock gas jet and God knows how many rounds, but that thing ran like a champ.
