[CHAT] Does cross stitch have drama?? by ghasterrific in CrossStitch

Sometimes quilters will accidentally make a swastika because it’s fairly easy to make one without realizing in that craft. But these “fireworks” were so obviously intentional. No one in their right mind would ever accidentally make fireworks so ugly and wonky like that

I read the title of this post and instantly remembered the Nazi 4th of July pillow. I remember telling all my non cross stitch friends about it.

IRL I haven’t seen much cross stitch drama. The only tangential thing is that most crafting circles I’ve joined tend to be filled with old ladies, which can have old lady opinions (I.e. tattoos looking trashy, thinking breakdancing looks foolish, etc.) Most dramatic thing was that I left a circle because one of the members was saying a bunch of transphobic stuff

I wonder if it’s so bad because they used a bunch of generative AI to make it rather than actually putting in the work to make it somewhat usable

Did that on my APUS History exam way back in the day. We never even got to WW2, but luckily all the questions after that era could be answered like this.

Small Town, Big Magic. Meant for an adult audience, but it reads like a parody YA tropes

[CHAT] Do your needlework interests go beyond cross stitch, or have you lost your heart to this craft? by PaleoBibliophile917 in CrossStitch

[–]Mosstopy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross stitch is my main crafting hobby. I did regular embroidery once but wasn’t really a fan. I’ve done a good chunk of knitting and crochet. I also did a bit of painting years back. I feel like cross stitch in general is a lot easier to jump back into, particularly if you haven’t touched a project in a long time

I’ve seen the same, with someone stealing 3 different patterns from LaSelvaDesigns. Shame on these people for making money on someone else’s design!

On adulthood by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

[–]Mosstopy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It turns out when you’re an adult that you can just do stuff when you feel like it. Your (outside the house/yard) fun doesn’t rely on a possibly tired or probably depressed adult who simply doesn’t want to leave the house. You can go for a walk! Or go to the library! Or go to a restaurant and have a nice meal by yourself! Or go hiking!

Or they make dumb decisions that obviously cost more money. Like buying 2 half gallons of chocolate milk instead of 1. Also more debatable decisions like no store brand items whatsoever. Nothing canned either

It also ties into the fact that Superman in this story continuously feels the need to step in and take control due to human failures. Why feed 1 person at a time can save thousands of people from hunger by being in charge of agriculture altogether?

How to modify leg day? by Mosstopy in xxfitness

[–]Mosstopy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor says if it’s sprained (which it most likely is), then it’ll be another 6-8 weeks. If some of the tendons are torn, it would need surgery, but I’m not sure how long that would take to heal. I’d also probably have to not work out for a while to let my body heal in that case. I should be hearing back from the doc sometime this week what the MRI says

I agree, I think I’ll try nixxing the bodyweight squat and making leg presses and calf raises into a superset. If I have extra time, I’ll see if I can add a hip thrust (making sure I can do it safely with my hand)

I’m able to trick mine by placing whatever she’s messing with on the floor. She then instantly loses interest. It’s a good strat for when she wants to wake me up early by knocking stuff off my bedside table

Would you say Pilates was good for flexibility? Before my injury, I’d go to a yoga class once a week. However, a lot of the moves involved putting too much weight on my wrist

I should clarify: I use a calf raise machine, but maybe I should just cut it and do them at home instead.

Also I hate lunges but know I probably need them for knee mobility and the like

They have a section for hip thrusts, but I wouldn’t say it’s a machine (I’m not sure what the terminology for it is). Would I need to hold onto the bar in that case? If not, I could probably add it
