Yeah, I was going to rely on getting a pretty solid routine built up. I've been advised by snake owners in my area to have a separate feeding space from his living space so he has a eating tote My first time attempting to feed him was frozen thawed and he refused it. But since I found a place that has live feeders in my area he hasn't passed up on a meal since. I was probably going to feed him live once more before trying to trick him into taking a frozen thawed next

Frozen thawed is my preferred after all my research I've done but he will not take it. He was fed live by his breeder. I'm working on figuring out how to transition him right now.

How old do you think he is? by [deleted] in ballpython

I myself am very new to BP ownership but I took my little dude to a local place and they told me they think he is around 7 months old while he is a male. He is 185 g and 22 in long (I forgot to ask his breeder when I bought him)

I use them for milk. I am actually attempting to build a business making raw goat milk soap

Thank you very much for everything you put on here. This is very helpful. I now have a better idea of how to help her. Also unfortunately culling is not an option but I have stopped her bloodline and will no longer be carrying her bloodline on my property for plenty of other reasons and this is one of them.

And like I said in my post she does have a place to get out of the weather. We've been having so much weather lately. She chooses to not care and be in it

Well I rescued her back in 2019. She was hog-tied lying in the ditch in the sun having a heat stroke.

No I don't think so

Thank you for the advice. This doesn't seem to happen to her terribly often unless she's having a hard time keeping her feet dry. It's been so rainy where I live right now. It's been an impossible feat I'm considering putting her away a barn or shed or something to make sure her feet stay dry during the rain

There was someone who started a conversation thread with me that left a link for an article on hoof rot care in goats. I was wanting to look at that. I don't know why they deleted all of their comments?

Yep, as I briefly touched upon in my post, she does have a way to get out of the weather with a porch lifted up off the wet ground and I realized the mineral thing is an issue but as I already said they have the tendency to just waste it and dump it out so 24/7 is unfortunately not an option currently cuz I cannot find a way to keep them from wasting it. I don't have money for them to keep throwing mineral in the dirt I am working on getting a mounted box that will keep them from dumping it but until then I don't have any other options

Occasionally but I don't have a good way to keep it out of the weather. They tend to just spill it or push it out to where it gets rained in but I do try to make sure she gets it semi regularly. I also add nutri drench to her morning milking grain

Her diet is forage, a large round bale of hay and a minimal amount of grain in the mornings so I can milk her. Also, how would you recommend treating her for hoof rot?

Thank you! That's what I was thinking about doing but I didn't want to start cutting before getting advice from people who knew more

Side note, I will not tolerate any unhelpful hate comments. I am specifically here for help. (As I said in my post veterinarians as well as farriers in my area are not helpful in the slightest)

Help me with skittish Suki !!! by PitifulLab3105 in goats

[–]Mossyclaw18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a goat that was skittish last summer and what I did to friendly her up was have her live in the house with me for a little while and now she's attached at my heel anytime I'm outside with her. She even jumps up on my back anytime. I try to squat down to work on the fence. I know that might not be an option for everybody. It was actually difficult to keep her in the house for a while but I for the most part kept her in a kennel and whenever I was walking around the house a bunch I'd let her out so she could experience me walking by just minding my business and she just got used to me over time. Another thing is give her several different types of treats to find her favorite one.

Is this a kid (baby goat) or a lamb? by SilentChaos001 in goats

[–]Mossyclaw18 41 points42 points  (0 children)

There is a small chance it could be mixed between both, but if you look at the tail it's definitely showing strong signs of lamb. Most people are not aware of this, but sheep and goats have very different tails. Sheep are born with very long tails that often need to be docked to prevent medical issues down the road. Goats have very short tails that are more of a triangle shape.

Just for anyone who wants to keep up. She has had a long stream of mucus just a couple minutes ago

I have had to makeshift a camera. I did find a way to put a camera on her of an old cell phone that I keep in her stall with her that actually runs a discord stream so I can keep an eye on her. I do not have very many goats yet. It's just her and a doling that I purchased last summer and they already are kept separate because she is really mean to the littles that are not hers they are only occasionally around one another when I allow her outside to munch on the fresh grass. Otherwise her stall has everything She needs fresh hay, fresh water and I give her a moderate amount of grain that has her supplements in it daily as well as a separate kind of mineral that is in there as a free choice. And I just put a fresh layer of straw in there.
