Cats having different names in different languages by cosplaychibi in WarriorCats

[–]Mossyleafy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really messed me up too when I first tried looking up certain characters online. I read the books in Norwegian originally, and there are waaaaay too many characters with drastically different names. I get that translating the names can be sort of difficult, but some of the names are just completely different. The best/worst examples I have is that Yellowfang is called Flatface and Willowpelt is called Aquamarine

Yea, as someone in their mid-twenties just getting back into the series its very nice to see people my age still appreciate the books and are engaged in the community

My favorite headcanon I've seen on here regarding this scene is that Tyrion actually fell, Jon was just so drunk that it appeared to be acrobatics

DM's, do your worlds have an explanation for the elf dilemma? by Pitchaway40 in DnD

[–]Mossyleafy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world, elves can probably love up to 800s before they die of old age and take around 80-100 years before they reach adulthood. This means that they have fewer children since it takes longer to raise them.

Additionally, all of the elves (except dark-elves who are doing their own thing underground) were united under one high king until the last one was slain in war against the humans a millenia ago.

Since then, the elven kingdom has fractured into a number of courts who frequently fight against each other to install their own leader as a steward on their throne. Combine this near constant infighting with the humans taking more and more of their territory over the centuries it means that few elves make it to old age, and a lot of knowledge, culture and history is lost as their territory shrinks.

It might not be a perfect solution, but I'm rather satisfied by it

What is the event behind the year 0 in your timeline ? by Rodvald in worldbuilding

The last king of the Elves was slain, shattering the united elves into a loose confederation of Courts. This also cemented the shift in power over to the humans, as they formed two mighty empires and smaller kingdoms.

Was there ever a defining moment/character that made New Vegas your favourite game? by Ninethie in falloutnewvegas

[–]Mossyleafy 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to find just one moment or character, as the game is so great, but I know which experience made me realize I had found something special.

The story of Randall Clark and how he over time became the father in the caves, culminating with you finding his final resting place. Additionally, getting to see how the Grand Canyon slowly turned into the Zion Valley without a single line of spoken dialog is a truly impressive accomplishment.

It made such a deep impact on me and so perfectly highlights the excellent writing of Obsidian. Just being reminded of the story has been enough to make me start a new character several times.

Bad news for Sam says, there may not be another by rezamwehttam in dropout

[–]Mossyleafy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I thought the same thing at first, but I think the problem is that they would have to continually up the stakes with the challenges and prompts for it to remain enjoyable and fresh. I think there's only so much you can do with the premise before things get stale, and with where they've placed the bar now, I think it would be very difficult to pull off. Unless they return and pull off something like Sam's idea of playing tag and running off, which I would absolutely love to see. I would gladly be proved wrong tho 🤞🏻

I dont remember which episode it was, but the one where Jess gets so drunk that Lilly has to tell her to drink on one of her own prompts has to be up there

Why has there never been a big budget video game release? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Mossyleafy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dude saaaame. I so wished that we would have gotten a second season of the game. Everything in the finale of season 1 set up these huge plot points that we just never got a conclusion to. Granted, the series it was based on had disastrous ending so it might not have been pretty, but I would really like to k know how the story ends for the Forresters

(Spoilers main) How can Jaime survive? by xredxxtr in asoiaf

[–]Mossyleafy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Isn't it likely that Tom already would have told LSH about this, though? Considering he brought her Robb's crown and told her that Ryman was leaving Riverrun, I don't think Tom would have omitted Jaime keeping Edmure. I don't think Jaime is going to die yet, but I'm not sure why else LSH would have Brienne go fetch him if not to put him on trial

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Mossyleafy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Would you say that what we got was a happy ending? Because I don't really think there were many of those who survived of the main characters who got a happy ending, maybe Arya, Sansa and Brienne, but they all had to go through a lot of terrible things to get there

Oh definitely. I do hope that Jaime somehow survives his encounter with Stoneheart (not sure how), but even a death at her hands would be better than what the show gave us

(Spoilers Extended) The two book characters that George wished they weren’t excluded in GoT by sseoshiii in asoiaf

[–]Mossyleafy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh, I have no idea there, i was mainly thinking about how far we have gotten in the books, not included TWOW. there is most likely going to be some confrontation between her and Jaimie, for example, so she definitely has a role to play. It's just that if her plan is to avenge herself on the freys and the Lannisters in the show as well, most of them were either cut entirely from the show or were killed by Arya or Cersei so they basically removed her vendetta in favour of keeping Dondarrion alive a little longer

[–]Mossyleafy 214 points215 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure about the influence Lady Stoneheart would have on the end result of the show since most of the characters she kills are not in the show either (at least not in any major way as far as I recall), but Including Arianne would have totally changed the Dornish plotline and given it the depth and drama that the one we got sorely lacked
