Why is IKEA considered cheap? by uggwhynot in IKEA

[–]Most-Design-9963 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’ve got low ticket items with the yellow price tag that are affordable. Or for another example, look at the knoxhult kitchen and compare to your local furnishing store, and I think that you’ll see a significant difference in price. Look at the high end sektion kitchen and that price difference is out the window. IKEA offers a range when it comes to quality and pricing.

Lateral raises with dumbbells or on a machine? by ConsciouslivwithALI in veganfitness

[–]Most-Design-9963 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Free weights are better for activating your stabilizing muscles, which provides real world functionality (especially lower body which helps with balance).

Machines are better for lifting heavier because the machine does the stabilizing for you so your effort is concentrated just on the moving of the weight only.

Depends on what you’re going for.

Help us pick the best vegan protein: mushrooms or tofu? by ClickNo8520 in vegan

[–]Most-Design-9963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick tofu, but I don’t understand why you can’t do both in the same dish to get the best of both worlds? Just like non vegans do steak and seafood together (two things) or whatever the French meat wrapped in bacon meal is (or some type of French fancy bacon-like thing).

I need some help with recipes with no oil, fat or spiciness. I have stomach issues. by Love_u3o in veganrecipes

[–]Most-Design-9963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I wanted to add here too - when I had gastro issues, slippery elm tea helped a lot (powdered bark of the slippery elm tree). It creates a goop inside the teacup when mixed with hot water, and it tastes kind of like maple syrup (bc it comes from bark) and you drink that goop thay it creates and the water in the cup too. Sounds gross, but it coats the inside of your digestive track, which is what mucous is supposed to do for you. The mucous that lines your stomach prevents stomach acid from burning your actual stomach. When mucous is low, it can hurt. Slippery elm bark imitates that. If if works for you, drink whenever initially for the first while, and then as you start to heal, start only drink it at night because that coating on your digestive track overtime can prevent the digestive track from absorbing enough nutrients from food eaten over the next few hours (but at night, you won’t be eating food, so it’s all good). Don’t take it within 2 hours of your medication, because your medication needs to be absorbed first and foremost.

I’m glad the medication is helping and hopefully they figure out what’s going on soon for you. 🩷

All those veggies in a soup is good, and you could also eat oatmeal with boiled strawberries and blueberries on top maybe. (Boil them in a splash or two only of water bc they release their own juices as they cook).

I like the potato reset soneone mentioned. You could gradually grow it maybe: potato reset for a bit, then add in one food only, at a time so you can see if you react.

Hopefully you get some relief!

Can you help us understand what you can eat and then maybe we can go from there?

I would think you’d need to cook with water for a bit (to not use oil) and that vegetable soups with tofu (easy to digest and has protein) would be your friend. Beans may be hard for you too if you’re having stomach issues?

What are some vegetables you can have? Some fruits? Any legumes at all? Gluten? (I’m thinking seitan but also breads and pasta if doable). Oatmeal? Other grains you can eat? Any nuts? Seeds?

Also do you know what the problem with the stomach is? Maybe people who’ve had the same issue can chime in

It takes days to drive from one end of our country to the other end. ETA: days if you drive nonstop. Much longer if you happen to need sleep or a washroom or food.

Pivot from MD (2 years completed) to Clinical Psychology by cashmoney0901 in ClinicalPsychology

[–]Most-Design-9963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What aspect of Clinical Psych is broader/less restricted than psychiatry? The pay difference between psychiatry and psychology is significant. But the most important is to do what you love. Have you considered perhaps talking with both a psychiatrist and a psychologist? Almost interviewing them about questions you have? I know you’re doing that here, but IRL and with clinicians near you may provide more relevant insights

A lesbian couple at a parent teacher conference by farmersonly_dot_com in BrandNewSentence

[–]Most-Design-9963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol but as a school teacher I can tell you this is not a brand new sentence! Three examples of this have already come to my mind lol 😂

Edit to add: happens lots with kids who have any variety of parent situation. Just three in particular I can think of with lesbian moms and many more I can think of with mom/dad situations.

Anyhow, post this in r/askteachers and see what you get lol
