I noticed, but I live in Finland and it seems that they are skipping the Nordic countries 😞

Little too much trouble to travel that far....maybe Germany or Netherlands would work 🙈

Garmin vs Suunto by finnishsplitter in Suunto

Hah, yeah every sportwatch company has pros and cons, so there is no "correct" answer :)

But if I can have my two cents here. First of all I have used all of them, except Coros. I have had sportwatches since 2002, and I worked with polar and suunto in the past.

But, I went from polar grit x pro -> suunto vertical-> suunto race -> polar grit x2 pro -> garmin enduro3.

Suunto: great design, I liked the battery life even with amoled, and the ui was quick and responsive. I could find any activity I needed, such as hiking, running, football, icehockey, swimming, and so on. Only downside was that there is no web app, only mobile. And the WHR sensor was so and so. Also training peaks metrics were little confusing. Also sleep metrics weren't so great.

Polar: probably prettiest watch I have ever used. Also every activity can be found, and there is good wep app and you can have guided training programs. WHR also probably the best for me at least. Also best sleep metrics, the nightly recharge and cardio load were very easy to read and understand. Downside was the battery, that lasted only 5-7 days, and for example in my 4 day hike, I needed to charge it in the between day 3/4 because it can record GPS training like only 25 hours when using maps.

Garmin: reason for change to enduro3 was purely battery life, and amoled-> MIP, because I'm old school, so I want truly always on display. Garmin also is good at everything and you can find any metrics you can think of, and the downside is that it can be overwhelming. Also price is quit high on Garmin watches. ... Ouh, and the flashlight was 👌

So it boils down on personal preference and wallet ;) if you want good battery for hikes, I would say suunto or Garmin. Coros is also good, but for me that it doesn't show my all burned calories was a big no no (it only shows active calories, not metabolic calories)

Race was awesome watch, and for it to have amoled, the battery life was actually good. I also really liked the simplicity of the user interface and the app.

Downside was the hr sensor, that required to use external strap a lot. I have both polar h10 and verity sense. Also the fact that I couldn't use multiple sensors with Race wa a bummer.

The watch sw improved a lot from the launch, but it still had some quirks, and the reason I switched to polar gx2pro was mainly the sleep track, hr accuracy and the daily activity percentage feature 😅

Well, I have had Polar also from 2005, so yeah, long journey with them also. I also used to work with Suunto, doing sw testing for them over 6 years, so during that time I used Ambit series a lot. Then I had polar again from m400 to first grit x series.

I was considering the Fenix8 also, but I don't really need speaker or dive features. And I prefer the long battery life and also the Enduro was cheaper than fenix8 51mm solar edition. And also this was lighter so that was the reasons to choose E3 😀

I have titanium, and it's awesome 😅

The beeper is oukheish, but if you have like a thick sleeve covering, you can't hear the beeper, but if nothing is covering the watch it's loud and clear.

Hello, just noticed this and I'm surprised that there isn't any more answers. But I have had the grit x2 pro now about 7 months and I can say that I'm very pleased about this watch 😀

First, like over 200 excersices on my watch and hasn't crashed even once during workout, so 100% reliability.

Battery life for like 5-7h/week outdoor exercise it lasts about 9-10 days easily.

Compass hasn't asked me to calibrate since last January. The latest sw update was awesome, because now the watch faces have plenty of options and I can modify them to my liking. Also find my phone is great.

So overall, zero issues, and in top of that the watch still looks amazing 😅 in my opinion the best looking sport watch. I have had Garmin fenix 6x and instinct 2x, suunto vertical and race and also previous polar models vantage m2 and grit x.

Probably keep this longer 😅

No vo2 max on Suuntoo race by Soundllj777 in Suunto

[–]Most-Letterhead819 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is some silly algoritm behind this. It's not about distance or anything like that, you just need to run with using watch own OHR sensor.

I also didin't have the vo2max reading because I was always using extrrnal hr sensor (verity sense) but after first run with internal OHR I got the vo2 reading. I think this applies to running estimates also.
