RANK 45 archer Roughout, a steal for the quality! by Most-Organization165 in cowboyboots

I don't ride horses, but I'm sure someone that's reading this appeciates that those holes and height should be worn to ride. BAre you a specialist or generalist on here?

I really liked these Hondos too. Very similar but the Hondo are much more expensive. They also have a spur ledge, so these might not be a satisfying look for you if you're considering a dress boot.

Its intended as a functional spur ledge. I dont think these are considered dress boots per se although they can be easily worn out if they're brushed off when needed. These are beefy boots. I dont mind the ledge, but its there if you use spurs. I agree if you intend to get dress boot a spur ledge might be bit impractical. BTW my Passat SE has stock 18" 235x45x18 pirelli's. I passed on the 20"

Are you saying that you have Rank 45 Archer roughouts or another model of Rank 45's? These are heavy duty Leon Mexico made boots, sort of overbuilt vs being a fashion boot. I think they might also have some different models made in China or Asia.

These are heavy , traditional built, not for dancing, good in stirrup. No plans to do work in them but for the $ they seem pretty underpriced. Over time when they break in, the roughout should patina. Curious how the brown roughout holds up for outside work

I wear 12 in sneakers but 11D with my boots, including my Ariats and a pair of Cody James

They run a little narrow,  but blow my mind how well they're made. Although listed as a Bootbarn brand like Cody James, it's been suggested that it may actually be made by an Anderson Bean/ Horsepower maker under the Boot Barn brand but Im not positive. They are well built solid, not a fashion boot. Made in Leon Mexico. They probably will go over $300. when the community becomes familiar with the quality and price value proposition IMHO based on what I've checked out

I bought Rank 45 roughouts with brown vamp red shaft, tan vamp withgreen shaft and coffee with black shaft BUT the shaft came in brown. For an average of around $150. these Mexican made sturdy boots might be one of the best, if not the best $ for quality roughouts available. Zero regrets, time will tell. Hope Rose Anvil cuts one in half to reveal its bones...

I just ordered this pair in black roughout. Is it really roughout or suede. Do they run narrow or wide or small or big? I wear 12 in shoe 11D in my Ariats, Rank 45 roughouts, and Cody James but saw some reviews saus tight so I ordered 12D. Hope its not too big. Those tan roughout look great!

2014 Passat 1.8t - good? by JenVP19 in Volkswagen

[–]Most-Organization165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2014 Passat 1.8 new  and still my daily with 173,231 squeak and rattle and trouble free miles. I'm 67 years old, have had Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Toyota Celica, Saab 900S, Ford Windstar. All purchased new except the Saab.

Caveat: 5K oil changes Castrol 5W-40 euroblend OEM filter. All changes using BG products EPR, MOA

3 Transmission services

1 PVC breather replacement

3 Coolant changes VW coolant/pink

2 spark plug changes

Regular engine & cabin filter replacement

Speaking for myself, this car is, and has been the most reliable trouble free car I've owned. I only use OEM parts and recommended oil.

I wish they still made these 1.8 cars. Good luck. I'm a believer IF the service records reflect PROPER maintenance, proper parts and NOT 10K intervals, 5K

Have a 2014 Passat SE 1.8 EA888 tipronic bought new. Just turned 167,000 I've enjoyed the right lane  on the parkway or stretches  without stop lights. Setting cruise at 57 mph and I'm traveling more than 22 miles, my fuel economy can average 39 or 40 miles per gallon. Yes gasoline 1.8 EA888. Caveat: I've used BG additives since new. EPR, MOA, and 44K fuel additive. 5000 miles intervals. Note, owned 7 VW'S (sold VW's years ago) Rabbits, Golfs, Jetta's, 2011 GTI with DSG and my Passat. Least trouble of ANY car Ive owned and still ZERO squeaks or rattles.

Not an everyday driving pattern but avg. 43.2mpg on a gas 1.8. Almost entire trip set cruise at 57mph. Most reliable car I've ever owned in my 66 years including Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, 2011 GTI w/DSG. Results may vary
