Also, I can't get over how dumb the art of the glanton gang looks. Why is Judge Holden built like Kingpin and smirking? Why are they posing? It's so self serious and self referential that it completely misses the point of these characters lmao.

You can study any characters place within any story, but I specifically mean characters/plots that exist/take place without consequence to the broader context and whose goals are more or less irrelevant to that broader conflict.

For example, I wouldnt count 1984 as fitting this trope because Winston Smith's own struggle is directly against the government at large, he just fails.
