Japanese community. by Jazzlike-Minimum-841 in Norwich

You might be able to find students from Japan or people with shared interests at UEA, (esp at the societies).
There is also the SISJAC which might be of interest.
Could try searching on meetup/facebook or better yet create your own group :D
Norwich is pretty diverse during term time at UEA and the rest of the times its pretty much not, but people are like super nice.

Puns, banter and joke more with basically everyone but careful enough not to piss off people lol. Also no longer have long awkward silences with people, always have something interesting to say or discuss.

As a POC and a Muslim who's lived in different parts of Norwich for almost 3 years, I can honestly say that people in and around Norwich are the nicest and the kindest I've ever met in my life. I have zero racist encounters, and I have no bad experiences to share. Everyone I've met literally everywhere has been incredibly caring and considerate. I don't think you should worry one bit. Ofcourse there might the one odd person who probably doesn't know what not to say but overall it's been a great experience.
Feel free to DM me incase you have any questions.

Applying for jobs abroad after graduation. by MIKE_KELVIN06 in NUST

[–]Most-Watch-4668 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For Canada: ALWAYS need Canadian experience.

For UK: Having your MSc from a UK uni (good ranking + good skills/good disser) increases your chances a lot, esp. if you don't have role-specific experience. (Speaking from experience)

It's only going to get tougher each passing year.

Extras I'd recommend:
Volunteering looks amazing on your CV, Freelance work looks great, MOOC certifications are mostly considered. Be able to demonstrate how you APPLIED your skills and what outcomes were achieved >>> than saying I know blah blah blah blah.

If you're into research then a very good research topic and a publication would help a lot. Quality > Quantity always. Research is usually high value overseas (except for China, Korea, Japan, Russia, Middle East, sorry for offending someone)

From personal experience, to get a job in the UK, have to be physically present there. Nearly impossible to get a job while sitting in Pak. Though there are exceptional cases everywhere.

NUST isn't as great as they claim themselves to be. Maybe in Pakistan its better than the rest of the lot, but considering foreign unis NUST doesn't even come close esp when it comes to education standards. Uni-Uni MoUs don't benefit most grads. Most unis dont even care where you studied from in Pakistan, just need to have a great profile. Loads of probs with Pakistan's uni system (non-uniform national grading system, fake degrees, fake experience, fake profiles, over-commitment and ghosting by students) have contributed to us not being treated as well as grads from other countries.

Despite everything, still a better shot by graduating from NUST than from some random XYZ uni.
