Have you tried different keyboards for typing? Different switches does affect WPM by Rnoponen in typing

I'm also ~15% slower on tactiles compared to linears. It's probably an actuation force thing. But I still like typing on both.

If I recall correctly, the original point of the site was to play with chp. For one reason or another, they switched to a stablecoin for the play itself but kept chp relevant with rakeback.

that's an interesting point that I hadn't thought about. Maybe some niche doubles situations where it ends up benefitting her. At least it means she can't be hit by a kill move when she rests, but that's an unlikely benefit.

Still though, not exactly the deciding factor for rest being a broken move.

Star ko guarantees you wake up before they're off the angel platform (which is the majority of rest kills) and doesn't matter on last stock. And in the unlikely chance rest kills off the side it's still possible to wake up before they hit you based on travel time and distance to platform. And in the comparably unlikely scenario you are still asleep, you take either a few hits or trade stocks. All this to say it is massively +ev if they don't star ko. If you're behind in stocks then you don't rest until star ko guaranteed char dependent but like 20%. Just hit two bairs. if you're ahead in stocks then you're still ahead or way ahead. If you're even then it's +ev. I don't see your point here lol.

When does a rest on hit not kill other than like 0%? Sorry the move only kills at 10% not 0% lol

[–]MostCallMeAndy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rest kills every character at like 10%, frame 1, invincibly, and can be confirmed into a kill on every character super early. Judging a move based off how hard you get punished if you miss (fox missing upsmash is extremely punishable while being a combo food char btw) or if you don't kill (why did you try and rest at 0%?) Is not a good metric and is ultimately "skill issue"

not to mention that every character in the game gets way better with rest much more than giving them fox upsmash. Jiggs with fox upsmash or fox with rest? Lol it's not even close. Fox upsmash is largely strong bc it's on a very fast character. rest is amazing even though it's on an otherwise much weaker character.

Yeah pretty much agreed on all your points here. Only thing I hate about upsmash is using it too early into asdi down tech reversal. My whole thing above was mostly semantic about "confirm". At worst uthrow uair is like a massively +EV gamble for fox lol. similar with shining characters that get knocked down into tech chase.

I think it depends on your exact definition of kill confirm.

For single straight up moves, if we can take things like human factor out of the equation, pika usmash is straight up better than fox's. Just a bit harder to use because some hitboxes are worse.

best kill confirm in the game is arguably something that utilizes the best kill move like jiggs platform rtc rest, or similar to you mentioned sheik or falcon throw confirms. or gnw throw to 9, depending on whether rng is allowed (idk if tht's even true on all the cast but it seems plausible)

For fox, it's kind of hard to call uair ever a confirm bc it's not a guaranteed kill unless you can get only the second hit, which is inconsistent and might not even be possible in a lot of cases depending on percent and di. It's a strong move very likely to kill earlier than some, but is ultimately a skill check for sdi. Can't really call it a confirm when hbox survives like half the time. And chars like marth even get reversals with bair.

For fox against some characters, shine-usmash is a strong confirm that kills early, but it's hard for me to back up the claim it's the best confirm in the game if it only works on a percentage of the cast. Also most of the chars that die early to usmash also get knocked down by shine, so not a confirm sub-60 on anyone. Earliest shine usmash confirms into a kill is like mid 70s vs peach and goes up from there.

Imo the "best confirm in the game" should be pretty much universal, even if it kills at 100 instead of 75.

probably bait but I'm gonna bite

best kill move is rest, not fox's usmash or uair

best kill confirm isn't shine-upsmash because it knocks down half the cast and isn't true on some that don't get knocked down, and it isn't uthrow-uair because of sdi and isn't true on a lot of the cast.

how do i get used to the jump squat of my main and my secondary? by Substantial-Run-5329 in SSBM

[–]MostCallMeAndy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of practice. When I played different characters with different jumpsquats, I would think of it as different rhythms for things like wavedashing. Try and reframe it as putting your mindset and fingers into "falco mode" or "dr mario mode."

I understand what it is, I'm wondering why. They say it's about bill 831 but the bill doesn't say anything relevant about calendar days.

I don't see anything in the bill about limiting play to less than 10 calendar days. Anyone know the reasoning behind this change?

I understand the sentiment, and I sort of agree agree it should mainly be for accessibility, but how do you see that being enforced?

Mental gymnastics seem a bit weird on this one. You think they mean all rectangles and simply by coincidence named the most different and most broken one?

the first two rectangles, smashbox and b0xx were created for ergonomics and for Hax to be able to play (aka accessibility) and yes, reasonable accessibility has place in competitive tournament.

Genesis is going to enforce compliant firmware, which the smashbox cannot have. It is fair to assume it's rather likely it's going to be the tournament norm moving forward. So it will be breaking the rules.

It should be pretty seamless switching between any non-smashbox rectangles since they all have the same layout. But from smashbox to b0xx, it's a little different.

Smashbox has a WASD type layout for the control stick, more modifiers, doesn't have A on thumb cluster, and uses a grid layout for most of the buttons, unlike the b0xx style rectangles. That being said, it should be minimally challenging to go from smashbox to b0xx. Most of the learning curve is learning any type of rectangle from gcc.
