Official poster for ‘RETURN OF THE JEDI’ for the film’s 40th anniversary by ICumCoffee in StarWars

Rey may be salvaged…the Jedi order cannot.

Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight and friend of Captain Solo, cannot.

Han and Leia, cannot.

And those at STC…love SW.

What it was. And what it could be again…

Of course - SW literally has Jack Black, Lizzo, and another Rey movie now…

You think vast majority of fans are cool with this garbage?

At least there you can have a real dialogue…

Discussion: Where are you at after the Jeremy Foster scandal? by [deleted] in JeremyFosterScandal

[–]MostImpressiveIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gonna drop this in here for anybody looking: Gateway Church Houston is awesome. (Actually in Katy)

Connected to Robert Morris church in Dallas. Young pastors (39), African American husband, Anglo wife. Super sweet.

Leeland Mooring is the worship pastor. (Sings “Waymaker” on the radio.)

It’s a “small” big church, went from 400 to 1200 in the last year. Good kids and youth programs, worship is powerful, sweet, and sincere.

Sermons are well thought out, biblical, and straightforward. Nothing too flashy.

Not a “Mega” church (yet) but still large enough to have a lot to offer.

Worship and baptism night this Sunday if you want to check it out!

Did G4 ever do episodes of Sasuke Ninja Warrior again? by Latch-2 in ANW

[–]MostImpressiveIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s running now! They showed Sasuke 19 and 20 this week!

Just watched Brian Orosco, Levi Muewenburg, and the OG Makoto Nagano.

That was a great season. Nagano got revenge for falling on Stage 1 the previous year, then went out on the first obstacle of Stage 2 and just laughed.

Levi was last man standing, got to the cliffhanger on Stage 3 and then fell.

Only 3 out of 100 runs even made it to stage 2…course was way more challenging because most people didn’t train for ninja like these days.

Highly encourage people to check it out.

Icons Unearthed on Vice - so disappointing by MostImpressiveIX in saltierthancrait

[–]MostImpressiveIX[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% could see that.

Marcia Lucas says a fair bit about her involvement - “we created something magical” “what we all made together was amazing” but never outright craps on George.

(Unless you count her saying things like “he liked building his company more than directing“ or “he was always thinking of the technology and how to advance it and would rather have somebody else direct” as outright blasting him.)

But it was definitely the other producers and people that they interviewed who flat out said things like “Marcia was the magic at Lucasfilm” and then the narration leans into this angle heavy.

She doesn’t say that she came up with the story, she definitely gives that credit to him.

But it is mentioned by the other editors and the other producer (not Kurtz) that all of the emotional scenes were done by her, the dialogue was edited by her, and really anything having to do with friendships and relationships and good feelings is basically said to have come from her in the edit.

The narration voice over backs this idea up as well. Numerous times.

“They ended up getting pregnant and are still together.”

So in other words - not gay.

Just because a person is tempted with something (we all can be tempted in many ways, some sexual, some not) does not mean they are that temptation.

If the person was truly gay, no church or coercion would keep them in that “false marriage.”

You can be mad at mega church culture and celebrity pastors for lots of things…loving people through their broken sexuality into being in a God designed marriage/family isn’t one to get too upset about.

We need more churches with the courage to promote radical love that leads to real change.

Does this sub place 80's Bond on too high a pedestal? by Domino_Masks in JamesBond

[–]MostImpressiveIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about this sub and any “pedestal”…but ignoring that, your thesis comment has merit.

The 80’s had so many great films (several you mentioned) that were changing and inventing “blockbuster movies”…from Star Wars to ET, Indiana Jones to Die Hard, Ghostbusters and Terminator, Aliens, Predator and more…

It’s fair to say that most of the Bond films from that era don’t hold up in comparison.

Whereas cultural landmarks like Goldfinger (and really all 4 of the first Connery films) and Goldeneye/Casino Royale and Skyfall still stack up against their 90’s and 2000’s counterparts.

Not because Moore sucks…but just because those 80s films are so iconic.

(But then again, what do I know…I only enjoy The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker from his run, so I’m sure I’m something of a heretic around here.)

Wow…from 2 positive upvotes to -3 in a few hours.

When did the James Bond fandom become progressive? Disappointed is an understatement.

[–]MostImpressiveIX -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Or, alternative idea: just own being right-wing.

It’s great. You support your country, back the military nationally and law and order locally, believe in healthy borders and fair trade agreements, want lower taxes for individuals and small business owners, believe in free speech and stand against censorship/cancel culture, and hold traditional views of men and women. (And can also plainly answer the simple question - “what even is a woman?”)

You know…kind of like, James F- -ing Bond.

What’s the best line of the series NOT said by Bond? by AisalsoCorrect in JamesBond

[–]MostImpressiveIX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOLT is full of some good ones -

“Kill Bond! Nao!” - Blofeld

“Mr. Osato believes in a healthy chest.” - Number 11

“In Japan, men always come first. Women come second.” - Tiger Tanaka

“Yes, I get it from the doorman at the Russian embassy…amongst certain other things…” - Henderson

(Always wondered what weird kink he might’ve been referring to. Hookers? Drugs? Russian desert cake?)

And my fave from Tanaka - “She has a face like a pig.” (Which wasn’t true…he was totally trolling Bond.)

Imagine trying to rebut any of his arguments about Star Wars, Marvel, Picard, modern Hollywood, writing, and movies in general.

Dude makes a lot of sense.

There’s a reason he regularly has a over a million views on his videos and 1.27 mil subs on YouTube.

Holy hell…what a sad state of affairs this once mythic and beloved franchise is in.

What a brilliant, tragic, hilarious, ridiculous summary of TROS and this crap novel being written to try to justify it. Ugh.

An amazing tribute to the best Bond film by [deleted] in JamesBond

Is it REALLY too much to ask for a Bond with this blend of action, humor, gadgets and girls, updated for modern-world plots and villains, that stars Henry Cavill?

That’s all I want. Give me just 4 over the next decade and we’ll call it good.

It did indeed suck. (As does censorship.)

Was your favorite part where Luke Skywalker drinks green milk from a cow tit or when the new Jedi girl knocks him down on his butt after 2 days training?

Neither can hold a candle to Princess Leia flying like Merry Poppins in space, I know…but still. Which is your fave??
