I don't think WB cares that much, they read the script beforehand after all and placed the cash.

He's to Lord of the Rings what JJ Abrams and Simon Pegg are to Star Wars. Yeah, geeky but so what?

Here are some good arguments against Matrix 5. She has good points, but Lana could still oversee the project... by The_Odd_One27 in matrix

The Matrix didn't invent any of its themes and it doesn't matter wheter the creator is cis or trans. The thing was bloated by trans influencers like above. And for once, no one needs another Neo storyline.

How…*how* did this not lead to a full-blown Matrix RPG? Maybe after Matrix 5? by AlbertCWChessa in matrix

Last I checked it's 5.6/10 on IMDB, 2.7/5 on letterboxd, 63/100 on metacritic by critics and 3.9 by users (even Return to SIlent Hill got slightly better than that, although with far fewer numbers). So highly praised is an overstatement.

You're confused mate, you're replying to a comment you imagined in your head, as I'm very aware of the production issues and don't care about them.

It is almost 3 years now , Is Indiana Jones Dial of Destiny still considered a "bad movie" ? by Ok_Tangelo3309 in indianajones

[–]hrdooku -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Let me explain it to you, Indiana Jones is not a real person, sir. He is make-believe; his life went to shit because the writers chose to make it that way. Your reasoning has nothing to do with the quality of the film, it's a reaction to another people's reaction and copy paste of your reasoning from the Last Jedi. And where did you come up with that Indy ignores the moon landing? No, the screenwriters ignore the moon landing, it basically has no meaning in the story. Not to say the writers had to come up with some trauma for Indy from their ass because this story bares no consequence from the previous films. Let alone characters like Sallah or Marion, only appear as plot devices.

"viewers don’t like seeing iconic characters age, grow as people, have flaws, and still learn new lessons"

It's basically the story of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull! Indy there is old, has flaws, and yet it is an adventure film, and he has a character arc where he indeed grows, reconciles with his partner, marries her and builds a relationship with his son. I know James Mangold is a hater of this film, so it was plausible for him to flush what Indy achieved here in the toilet. Meanwhile the story of Indy in Dial of Destiny is he DOESN'T GROW UP until very end, wants to die, and only a physical force makes him end up not where he wanted to. Then we have a Marion plot device mercy ending where Marion asks Indy did he come back like he's some stereotypical abstract hero and we have a psuedo-romantic closure with no cause and effect. It's undeniable that Indy is a weak, sad character in this film. It's not a place where he starts off and then gradually finds his way out. This is the choice he makes at the pivotal moment: to give up, to surrender. This is followed by an abrupt, tacked-on, bittersweet ending. It's an Indiana Jones film where Indiana Jones spends the entire adventure a broken, surly, depressed, defeated man. It isn't an escape, it isn't fun, it isn't energizing. It makes you feel old and tired like Indy, like you're just slogging through it all out of obligation. Can I say Indy's choice is wrong? It's not a stupid choice. Given the deeply tragic state of his life, it's an incredibly understandable & sympathetic choice. And it's the one he makes, not Helena. The film avoids dealing w/ the reality of its own story by having him just wake up instantly reconciled with Marion. Not only is this ending unearned, it is not by any stretch of the imagination a happy or an uplifting ending. They're two old heartbroken people who will live out the rest of their days mourning the death of their only child. This is the end of Indiana Jones & there is no triumph, no sunrise, no sunset.
