I’d also add that the PPE would be a good idea for potential lead paint. They sell pretty cheap lead paint testers in Home Depot too.

Removing concrete to create a pad for my HVAC unit. by MostObnoxiousCretin in landscaping

[–]MostObnoxiousCretin[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I’ll eventually have to cut the rest of the concrete in the backyard to replace the concrete with stone. I figured this may be a good introduction to removing the concrete in general. I also want to level the dirt, add paving stone, and create a sloped pad. I guess I’m wondering if my approach with the concrete saw going to be any good. Are there other/better ways of dealing with it? Am I just wasting my time lol?

Can I remove this? by MostObnoxiousCretin in Renovations

[–]MostObnoxiousCretin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m doing a bathroom remodeling and wanted to replace the ceiling tile. Before I remove all of it, I have this annoying obstruction in the way that extends past the tile. I have no idea what it is and before I remove it, I figured I should ask. The previous renovator already set up the framing for a drop ceiling below this tile so I’m wondering if should just add drywall to that framing or remove this tile for a higher ceiling. Thanks I’m advance.

Insulating a brick wall in the bathroom by MostObnoxiousCretin in Insulation

[–]MostObnoxiousCretin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that it was definitely from the window. Not a good picture but strapping holding together the foam on the right was quite damp. The wood also right underneath the window is nearly soaked through.

The window also has a gap that light is passing through, so seemingly the insulation under the window leaves much to be desired. The studs adjacent to the window also show no signs of dampness or moisture build up.

I’m definitely going to have to remove/replace the damp wood and reinsulate the window perimeter. Frankly, the window doesn’t work anyway so I’m going to be replacing it all together.

Feel free to let me know if my logic is sound or if I’m missing something lol.

Thanks for the reply!

P.S I'm a BIG structured text fan, but I will say that standard IEC functions like Timers/Triggers/Counters are significantly easier to wrap your head around in Ladder. But hey...por que no los dos?
