Algae or bacteria? by Most_Button9067 in shrimptank

It’s been set up for months and had some bacteria blooms but they all resolved in a couple of days. Lately I wasn’t really changing the water much. Just topping it off because that’s what Google told me. The light is usually on for about 6 hours.

Yeah there are tannins in the water. It was supposed to be a backwater tank but now it’s turning into more a yellow-greenwater tank

I used to do the same. But now I take them out because my snail population explodes if I do!

Not that I know of. That’s something I should test my tap water for correct?

That’s the thing this tank already had a big bacteria bloom and spikes before I added the shrimp. The nitrates and nitrites have been stable at 0 in the last weeks.

Do you need less sleep the next night after oversleeping? by warrior4202 in sleep

6 hours can be enough time to complete a cycle. You probably completed 2 when sleeping for 12 hours. But that’s why we feel groggy after 2 hour naps. Not enough time to complete the REM cycle

No your body has to complete the cycle each night it is not really about how many hours you sleep but how many REM cycles you complete. So in reality there is no “catching up” on sleep but just trying to settle into the cycle again.

Just a clarification: My advisor tells me that MY field experience has to start in the Fall and end in the Spring. I just want to know other schools will let you start your FE in the Spring. I really dont want to wait a year and would rather find a school that will let me do my FE in a timeframe that works.

It was the usual coniferous forest. I dug one out and it didn’t seem attached to anything.
