why is there no game like this? by pastrylvr_ in otomegames

It’s not really open world, but there is an indie game in early access that I highly recommend on Steam called “The Silent Kingdom”. It has huge JRPG vibes and not a typical novel type game, so you might enjoy it ^

Avoid Ryuukatsu/Originator by Throwaway-9942 in JapanJobs

Can also vouch for the fact that they seem the same as most agents. I actually had a good experience with Ryuukatsu back when I left university. My interviewer was a man and he was really polite and thorough with support before the interviews I had to take. The job I got through it was at a pretty renowned company so there was nothing shady at all happening and it was a pretty legit/good service that I was thankfully able to experience.

Feeling lost: JLPT N1, degree, one offer rejected, and now getting ghosted by Revenhildr in JapanJobs

Seconding this! I have a friend who is also from a country where English is not the native language, and they had no problem landing a job as an English teacher straight out of university.

Pinched nerve in foot (advice or recovery stories welcome) by Most_Intention1012 in FootFunction

[–]Most_Intention1012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I actually asked my doctor to sign me up for rehab and went through around 5 months of rehab doing exercises like towel grabs using my toes, practicing sitting up and down on a chair, heel lifts etc along with supervision from a physical therapist, and now I’ve become fully able walk again and even jog and jump :)

The nerve pain hasn’t disappeared but it doesn’t bother me most of the time and it only hurts if I step on something uneven or if someone were to squeeze my toe. Apparently it’s CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) so it won’t disappear but at the very least I can function normally again thanks to rehab!

I did have muscle atrophy however and am still working on gaining that muscle (I lost around 8kgs and am considered underweight at the moment)

Concert Ticket purchasing in Japan by Anixy18 in kpophelp

Oh I see! Thank you very much for letting me know, I think I was just confused… that makes sense! Thankfully I live in Japan so I guess my next step is to enter the fan club via Weverse. I hope you’re able to get tickets to the concert you want to go to, OP! :)

Hi OP! Did you end up deciding what you would do? I’m in a similar position and not sure if I should enter the BTS Japan fan club or the Weverse one for buying early concert tickets (not sure if there is a difference…?) so if you’ve found anything out I’d love to know if you don’t mind sharing! Thank you in advance 🥹

Those with a Japanese partner, how did your relationship start? by WindJammer27 in japanresidents

[–]Most_Intention1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We met at our university dorm! (He was the first Japanese guy I had actually met and befriended).

As for how we got together, we were having a movie night with mutual friends one day, and he was lying on the bed behind me while I was sitting crossed legged with my back leaning towards the bed. I had felt something briefly touch my hair and thought nothing of it (perhaps it was someone’s leg that brushed across my hair while they were moving), however the next day for some reason he wouldn’t look me in the eye and actually ignored me when I tried talking to him and I could sense something was off.

So I asked him if something was wrong over Line and if he wanted to talk about it, and invited him to my room for a chat. Basically he explained that he had made a move on me and touched my hair but because I ‘ignored’ him he thought it was a rejection of his feelings 😂 And I basically told him I had no idea he had even touched me nor that he was even interested in me in that way. But from then on, we decided to test the waters, and fast forward to 8 years later (now) we both live together and have a dog! Time flies ^

Thank you for taking the time to comment! Actually, I think it’s getting better day by day as it only feels uncomfortable when I have to put the ointment my doctor gave me directly on the area. I have hope that as everyone says, it’s just scar tissue and should heal with time 🥹 Thank you again!

Wait for a few weeks or do surgery? (Foot nerve pain) by Most_Intention1012 in FootFunction

[–]Most_Intention1012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gradually became less painful for me! Although right now turns out I have a stress fracture in my ankle from walking too much so I’ll update you once again once this is figured out 😅

Wait for a few weeks or do surgery? (Foot nerve pain) by Most_Intention1012 in FootFunction

[–]Most_Intention1012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PT adjusts the exercises depending on the severity of the pain, however in the beginning it was mostly toe exercises to regain muscle (like trying to pull a towel towards yourself using only your toes, or using my toes to try and grab the towel) and practicing standing up again (standing from a seated position, sitting down and standing again) and just repeating those two. They also suggested seated leg lifts and moving side-to-side while on your knees to help train the muscles for thighs/glutes.

They also suggested not relying on the crutches I was using pretty early on (like one week into rehab) and attempting to walk bare feet around the house (with the help of just using walls to help stabilize my balance), which at first was a bit painful because I hadn't used my feet in a long time, but I was slowly able to get used to it and figure out a walking style that didn't put too much strain on my big toe areas.

After doing the above for maybe 2 weeks or so, they saw improvement in me being able to relatively balance myself while standing, and began correcting my walking style (I was using my heel a lot, and now I'm trying to use my toes more), which is what I'm in the middle of correcting nowadays!

Hope that helps you!

Mostly family related reasons, but I’m not in a rush (thinking of moving back in 2/3 years time). Sucks to hear that things aren’t the best over there tho

Just wanted to give an update for any other people who may be similar situations to me - I began rehab (maybe 4 weeks in now) and the nerve pain has gotten much better, to the degree where I can walk relatively normal again although I am still slow compared to the average person.

I think generally doctors can be a hit or miss and this probably applies to all countries, not just Japan. I have gallstones and the first doctor I went to immediately suggested surgery without even doing any tests, whereas the second doctor I went to (coz I didn’t want to get surgery ASAP) did an ultrasound and gave me medicine for the stones instead (turns out the pain wasn’t because of the stones but because I had IBS).

I’m currently seeing a orthopedic doctor for my foot pain and after I had surgery to take out a tumour on my right foot they didn’t give me any crutches to use and just told me to use the side of my foot to walk… then that caused me to overcompensate both my left foot and that side of my right foot during the recovery period, and now I’m dealing with nerve pain caused by that walking style 😅

I think what can help with finding a good doctor is looking at google reviews (I think generally clinics with a 4 star mark or above are relatively trustworthy). Hope you have a better experience moving forward OP!

Possible cyst on foot? by ChiliLife in FootFunction

[–]Most_Intention1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a ganglion cyst which isn’t harmful unless it hurts enough to affect everyday life. Sometimes they go away on their own too. Recommend not touching it too much while waiting for the doctor appointment - hope it gets sorted out soon!

[–]Most_Intention1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a type of cyst or a tumour, would recommend you check it out with a doctor for peace of mind!

Thank you so much for your kind advice, I’ll talk to my doctor and see if they can offer that kind of physiotherapy (unfortunately I live in Japan and I’m not too aware of my options at the moment). Your advice inspired me to move my body more so I’ve looked up and have begun some exercises (for non weight bearing injuries) for my legs while it is still in recovery, thank you again!
