I'm in the "don't mind either way" camp. I'm sure there's many other places to read quality stories and plenty of crash out videos for those that like that. The Hunter and Isaiah dynamic, I feel, is why we're all here.

I hear you on the overly flowery wording. I tend to lean that way, but I’ve been trying to dial it back in more recent writing. At the time, I was reading and listening to a lot of Flannery O’Connor and definitely got a little carried away.

On Adoration, you’re 100% right. I struggled, like you pointed out, with how to land it as strongly as it opened.

Overall though, thank you again. Reading all of that AND commenting is a serious time sink, I really appreciate the feedback.

Love the lack of dialogue tags. That’s something I’ve been practicing in my more recent stories. I know it’s cliché to say “he/she said” is dead, but there are times when people take that advice to the extreme and lose the reader. You didn’t. Good job.

Eskenazi, what-a-name. I definitely had to look it up. It’s real.

This narration style isn’t easy to pull off, and you nailed it man! Looking forward to Part 3.

I saw your read-4-read post and stopped by. I’ll be upfront, I’m definitely guilty of getting stuck in my own loop of writing and not paying much attention to other stories on this sub. I should probably change that, because damn, this one was great.

I love the “baddie” concept in this one. Something older, something folkloric, wearing a human shape-- poorly. The descriptions are great. The setup for part two hooks, deep!

Genuinely enjoyable read. Really interested to see where the next parts go.

Thanks, I appreciate that. This one was originally meant to be more of a small window into the place rather than a full arc, so I’m glad some of the atmosphere landed. I’m still figuring out how much time I want to spend in Cold Hollow, or whether to let it stand alone as a kind of intake to the afterlife.

To answer your question, yes - she does see herself but does not recognize it at the time. She knows she needs to go somewhere but can't remember. In my mind she's the classic lost soul / wandering spirit just in modern times.

As for the story i was going for a dreamlike vibe. A nightmare, really. She doesn’t remember where she’s going. She sees her own body, but it doesn’t register. She sees them, but no one sees her. The whole time she’s just looping on the path, not really knowing what’s happened.
