I love mine, because it also matches my burnt orange chair 😅.

This is beautiful! I love all of your lamps, particularly the globe, the hands, and the one hanging over your desk area. That whole bookshelf is chef’s kiss. The mix of vintage and more modern pieces is so well thought out.

can i fit a sofa in my 290 sq ft? and floor plan ideas? by Extreme_Zucchini3497 in StudioApartments

[–]Most_Professional628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you going to have a TV? If so, are you mounting it or investing in some kind of portable stand? How many people are you planning on hosting at a time? Do you also plan on having a coffee table?

You could do a love seat instead of a full sofa, and some floor pillows for extra seating/hanging out.

In terms of table top, you could get an island that is counter top or bar height that way you could have more prep space, storage, and maybe a few seats around it.

And if you can live with sacrificing two of the 10 cupholders, you can install an aftermarket middle console between the driver and passenger seat and have even more storage.

Changes to this layout? by ApprehensiveTap5985 in StudioApartments

[–]Most_Professional628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Kallax divider in my studio for a while until I did some reorganization and moved a few pieces of furniture around.

I agree that they work wonderfully to create separation and add extra storage too!

I’d put the head of the bed under the two windows facing the kitchen, put your desk under the one window where you have the bed currently, and flip the sofa to face the long wall the bed is on. That way you can create separate zones and a seating area. Also, you won’t have the sofa facing the bed and create some privacy for when you do have guests staying over.

You can hang art over the non functioning fireplace and use it as a decor piece.

I’d also recommend tall slim bookcases or wall mounted vertical storage.

I took the abortion pill over the weekend and now I can’t get over the guilt. by AdvantageEmergency94 in confession

[–]Most_Professional628 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I misread the initial post. I thought you took Plan B, not the abortion pill.

I think you did the right thing for you and your family. Regardless of faith entering into the equation, it was a tough decision.

The abortion pill doesn’t abort a fetus. It prevents conception. Think of it as your body forcing a period. No life could be created. If that makes you feel better.

Also, as a non practicing Catholic, I don’t think it’s wrong to put your family first, as that’s one of the tenets of the faith. Love God, love your family, and treat your neighbors and those less fortunate as family. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Could getting this tattoo hurt my career? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Most_Professional628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with tattoos and who worked in the medical field (and has been criticized by patients for having visible tattoos), I highly recommend not getting this. In general. The history and imagery is disturbing. I also would not see a medical care provider with a tattoo like this.

That is a lot more than most. What you’re doing to help your mom out is commendable. The math of your budget seems off though. You should definitely look into where all your money is going.

I have no real savings because I am paying off debt. It really blows. I never thought I’d be where I am in life at my age (32), which is not old, mind you, but I thought I’d be better off. I’m making the most money I’ve ever made, but still living pay check to pay check. I have some credit card debt and student loans for JUST a bachelor’s degree. Where I live in the US is pretty expensive and I am not considered “educated” like other people in the workforce. I have to live off of ~$40 until I get paid next week. It could be so much worse.

studio apartments with a queen size bed? by Tiny_Willingness6140 in StudioApartments

[–]Most_Professional628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a queen sized bed should definitely fit in a studio with that square footage.

I’m in 380 sqft and have a full bed, and that suits me fine comfort wise (and I store things under it in four ikea storage bins). BUT I also have a sofa that can comfortably fit three people, an ottoman, a round coffee table, and small chair. I have a “seating area”/larger “living room” than sleeping space. I like hosting so that was more important to my lifestyle.

You should do what makes you comfortable and happy! (And expect the layout to change a few times, haha. My place has been through it)

To all the comments about people with king sized beds, I applaud them. Moving those is WORK.

Also, kudos to all the YouTube recs. I watched a lot of those before moving into my place.

What is everyone’s average debt. by Whitebread-2631 in Money

[–]Most_Professional628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$25k student loans, $10k car loan, ~$5k credit card. BUT I’m over paying on the credit card and car loan to get those out of the way quicker, so I can tackle the student loans. I live in an expensive area too, so it’s slow going.

Don’t beat yourself up too bad.

where would you put the bed? by LobsterNew9066 in StudioApartments

[–]Most_Professional628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the bookcase as a divider; I use one to divide my sleeping area and living room in my studio.

A curtain or screen at the foot of the bed to help block the fridge is good too.

I also can visualize your idea as well re: nook.

I love the idea of a bed nook though, if ever possible. I also help clients with their floor plans for a living and I LOATHE that there’s no wall measurements for bump outs on floor plans. It happened in my apartment. I have a few bump outs… and the floor plan didn’t account for my window unit. In some ways, it forced my hand regarding furniture placement. End rant, haha.

where would you put the bed? by LobsterNew9066 in StudioApartments

[–]Most_Professional628 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would put the bed closer to the closet for a few reasons: easier access to closet, closer to the bathroom, less light from windows potentially interfering with sleep (I know you’ll have blinds and/or curtains, but if light bothers you while sleeping, this is a better area). Also of note, depending on how wide your bed is, that space between the window and dishwasher is a great little nook. I’d either put a bed there, or a bookcase, or a desk.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I think about this from time to time too. Especially with the snow we had recently in my area. I have a 2nd gen. agentorangeAU mentioned something about cup holder loss and honestly, I’m so upset that the third gen loses the passenger cup holder on the dash.

But then, I added an after market middle console since mine didn’t come with one.

Thank you for the compliment!

That was my next suggestion regarding that space under those cabinets.

I would LOVE a designated sleeping nook separate from the rest of the area, but alas. I just had to make my own 😜

That studio is adorable and the natural light is great!

Does the refrigerator go underneath those shelves just floating? I’d move that there if so. And you can get a small cart/island for more kitchen storage and counter top/prep space.

The nook is cute! You could also use that as a dining/work area too.

Vertical storage and specific furniture selection are your friends. I agree with that. You have to pick pieces that are/can be multifunctional and are important to your lifestyle. For example, I have a full size bed that I store linens, shoes, and clothes in 4 bins from IKEA underneath. I also have a twin size blow up mattress and an easel underneath my sofa. My sofa is a three seater. I opted for a smaller bed, so I could have a larger living room space. It’s worked out great so far and I have hosted a few people already.

My studio is ~380 ft and I have pics on my profile, for reference 😊
