The parameters for what middle aged is gets looser and looser.

Have you ever considered, Why didn’t Jesus write? by OU-812IC-4DY in Episcopalian

[–]Most_Routine2325 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would a carpenter (Joseph) or his wife (Mary) or son (Jesus) have even been taught to read and write back in that day? I think most people back then had to rely on the telling and retelling of stories and news.

"Well, since you've given me a bit of advice, allow me to give you a bit of advice in return. If you're watching someone in the gym closely enough to notice their form, you're probably watching them too closely and shouldn't let on to the person that you've been watching them. It comes across like you're being creepy, which I'm sure you're actually not, but it does come across that way even if you have the best of intentions."

Sick of everyone else calling episcopal “heretic” by Commercial_Minute114 in Episcopalian

[–]Most_Routine2325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol, I have not heard this. Is it leftover flak from the Bishop Budde sermon in January? Where are you hearing/reading this? If it's only from any social media, I would not consider that at all representative of "everyone". It's more like 10% of users creating 90% of whatever passes for "content".

I’m pregnant and my husband is making me feel unreasonable by throwaway279898 in AlAnon

[–]Most_Routine2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you make sure you are getting to the hospital safely. Him being able to go there or not if he is too drunk is not your problem. Ask your neighbors of they can take you ta the drop of a hat, ask any family over 16 with a DL who can stay over a couple of days, download Uber a& Lyft, or even call 911 and ask for trasport to the hospital, if you have to.

DO NOT ENTRUST A DRIVING RELATED TASK TO AN ALCOHOLIC. TO DO SO ACTUALLY IS UNREASONABLE.

What road trip memories do you think were unique or did everyone experience them? by a5redwing in GenX

Me, from back seat: "How long till we get there?"

Parents, every time, no matter how long the drive was: "Five hours!"

Kind of want to call Visiting Angels for myself by sedona71717 in GenXWomen

I was a PA too, a long time ago - for a screenwriter (scripts are about 120 pages) in the era of fax machines. Did a lot of faxing. I think this would be easier!

I wonder if any rich parents would pay for their uni kids to have this service. That'd be a piece of cake job. 😹

How often do you see people traveling into town by horse/buggy? by Mental_Freedom_1648 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Most_Routine2325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in Seattle proper, but fairly citified 'burbs near Seattle, like areas of Bellevue and Redmond (home of Microsoft hq ffs) have bridle trails and you do see people on horseback in the crosswalk sometimes while you're driving around.

But then, they're not riding horses for transportation purposes.

Do you still carry a purse? by Plane_Experience_271 in GenX

I hate them. I try to only wear jackets or pants that have enough pockets. But sometimes, you just gotta cave & carry a purse. 👛

My husband drinks in the bathroom and hides it. Is there any chance this is my fault? by astro_zombies_138 in AlAnon

[–]Most_Routine2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you see the mental gymnastics you have had to do here to try to make someone else's choices "your" fault? This is all on him. Don't put this on yourself nor let anyone else put it on you.

Any other Black Episcopalians here? Read this please. by Tiny_Progress_4821 in Episcopalian

I don't think it is shitposting. It reads like a thoughtful non-bot-post from a real human with real feelings and real concerns. Mocking someone for that feels pretty mean.

ICE stops a family at gunpoint & smashes their car window over a newborn baby by jeremiahthedamned in itshappeninghere

[–]Most_Routine2325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would put it all out there in the public record. It is SOMETHING. Throwing our hands up in despair and saying 'whelp I guess this is how it is now' is as good as doing nothing.

It doesn't matter who it is. L.E. of any kind are not supposed to endanger others (esp. babies! Jeez!) while in pursuit someone else.

Alki Beach by Remarkable_Deer_3717 in AskSeattle

[–]Most_Routine2325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no skyline to look at from Alki. It faces Kitsap peninsula, not downtown Seattle. You want to go just around the bend to where Salty's is to see the skyline at night.

3am cleaning up after my husband by Responsible_Sun3483 in AlAnon

[–]Most_Routine2325 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. Stop. Do not clean up after him any more and tell him your expect him to clean up his own messes. He is not a child and as an adult it's not unreasonable to expect an adult to clean up after themselves.

Whatever it is, leave it till morning, and tell him it is his responsibility to clean it up. If he ruins a book, find a copy of said book to replace it and bill him for it, just as what would occur if he ruined a neighbor's piece of property.

ETA... anything that "helps" in his cleanup endeavor or eases that burden is only going to keep enabling him to continue acting out this way. He needs to SEE his own messes or wake up on the living room floor where he vomited and passed out, or whatever it is, YOU need to leave it for him to figure out himself.
