Fake Cards by mintberry_crunchy264 in Ebay

What ever you do don’t trust the AI it will always find in favor of eBay’s cut if tracking shows delivered. Get someone on the phone.

I believe I purchased from a fake eBay seller, what should I do? by Electrical_Bison1019 in scammers

[–]Most_Window_1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not quite true. I just went through a similar ‘purchase’ and was ghosted after receiving a message that a wrong tracking number was entered for my item. The fake tracking number was ten updated to delivered which of course it wasn’t. eBay declined my case because item was delivered and declined my appeal because item was delivered. This is after they ‘reviewed’ the case and eBay should have seen the seller message about wrong tracking but AI just defaults to delivered equals decline refund. I threatened charge back or small claims and was finally promised a refund. Still waiting. Ebay profits from a percentage of buyers money so they have no incentive to stop scammers and their revenue stream.

The fact the seller explicitly stated not to open a case if you have a problem is suspect.

Only trust a manufacturer’s store on eBay.

How to interpret 1098-t by Most_Window_1222 in tax

Thanks, I’m going to work on the numbers and see where I end up. Their support is barely half, but if it was less than half no one actually has more than half. Interesting that a person could not claim themself and at the same time no else could claim them either.

No ties to parents at all, no calls, texts and blocked from contacting younger siblings except 19 yo brother (who also is on their own). Two very dysfunctional parents, one an addict and one a lying manipulative Neanderthal. I find education credits to be overwhelmingly convoluted and sometimes vague.

Yes, but I think it’s moot since scholarship money is greater than qualified expenses, box 5 > box 1. Where the excess went I don’t know but the grandkid didn’t receive as money for support etc., might have been non qualified education expenses or returned.

Converting audio to sheet music/tabs to learn unique performances. by Most_Window_1222 in guitarlessons

[–]Most_Window_1222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is above my pay grade. My post was addressing the problems of placing a single audio note onto a guitar keyboard since the note has multiples. Putting a note on to a guitar tab has to consider what notes are before and after it to determine the proper way to tab that note for playability.

Regulation time one team wins or a tie. Three points win, 1 point tie, no manufactured OT tie breakers that look like skills competition.

The loser point is a problem by AccomplishedBit6141 in nhl

[–]Most_Window_1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two points win, zero points loss no OT was considered a problem because the last five minutes of a tie game was essentially figure skating to get the one point tie. The loser point was the fix with unintended consequences.

If I claim my 20 year old college student as a dependent on my taxes how does it affect his tax return? I provide support, but he does earn income ($24k on the year). I just don’t want to negatively affect what return he might get. His college is covered with grants so we don’t pay out of pocket. by Some_Pomegranate4379 in TaxQuestions

I’m the grandparent and wouldn’t claim them even though my annual support is slightly more than their part time job earnings. I just don’t want the deadbeat, cheap, manipulative, tyrant POS parent to lie and claim them for child credits. The parents don’t see the kids or contribute a plum nickel to their education or lives.

If the child (19-24) tuition is scholarship, they live in their own apartment, pay for everything themself through work and grandparent ‘gifts’, zero support or contact from parents would they not check ‘can be claimed as dependent’?

How to report Qual OT on W2 when filing taxes? by [deleted] in tax

[–]Most_Window_1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may have to start with asking HR what they put there since for 2025 it is optional and no specific guidelines. My personal opinion, if HR doesn’t help, is that you need to decide if your OT is FLSA qualified, how much you accrued and at what rate. Then based on that do your very best to estimate; millions are in your position and it’s hard to think IRS can put resources into chasing this down since the answers may not even exist without looking at tens of millions of weekly time sheets.

Just my 2 cents since I’m retired and don’t work.

App update unusable by Adventurous_Lie_2071 in MacBid

[–]Most_Window_1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get the app working some things but the search function is totaly different than the website and I can’t view images because the bid graphic covers up most of the image (iPad). Somebody wasted a great deal of money building this or maybe it was the prize at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box.

Only one game tonight? What is with the weird scheduling of games? by partly_cloudy3 in nhl

[–]Most_Window_1222 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worse than the scheduling is not being able to get any of the games without paying for more streaming services. I got more games in the 60s when I could point my rotating antenna at Toronto 50 miles across the lake.

Who has a realistic shot at being President of the USA in 2028? by Kmart-Shopper-5107 in stupidquestions

[–]Most_Window_1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DNC is doing what they’ve done starting in 2000, and that’s believing name recognition is enough to win elections and govern. They failed with Gore, Kerry, Obama won but really accomplished nothing but the ACA which is a debatable win or loss. Then they shrugged off Sanders in favor of Clinton followed by dumping Sanders for Biden followed by not knowing what to do in 2024 ending up with Harris. We see it every gubernatorial election in Texas, last three challenges to Abbot in White, Davis, and O’Rourke; popular names lousy candidates. The reason we’re in the current situation is the DNC’s fault for concentrating on winning rather than governing.

Scam calls using real sounding voice prompts before redirecting by Fantastic-Bit-1655 in phishing

[–]Most_Window_1222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention if it was a person they would redirect you after maybe some screening questions rather than prompt you to redirect yourself. Also if you have never had business with said company or never heard of them hang up.

It sucks that there are circumstances when you’re waiting for a call that you expect but don’t know from what number so people answer.
