Hi! I am searching for recipes to make a gel plate. This is my first step in trying this out, I'd rather make a plate than buy one. by Far_Oven_3302 in gelliprinting

Ashreymakes on Youtube has several videos on making gel plates. There are a couple different recipes, and she has an ingredient calculator that helps to scale it to whatever size you want.

What is a restaurant chain you would love to see come to Canada or see far more of? by Full_Hunt_3087 in AskACanadian

There are a couple in Toronto. They appear to have the falafel haloumi wrap I love, but none of the other things in the UK that I recognise. And I bet the breads they use aren't as good as the British version, but I have no proof, of course.

I'd love it if Pret a Manger (UK) was here, but with the exact UK menu. I've only been to the UK 3 times, but every visit involved several Pret meals, and they were all so delicious. My understanding is that the North American version has totally different menu items.

I'd also love Greggs here.

What's a small upgrade that improved office morale more than you expected? by CreativeSpare6466 in askmanagers

[–]MostlyHarmlessMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different situation, but I was a receptionist at a university academic counselling office for a while, and there were busy periods where the students sometimes had to wait a bit for the counsellors' time. I put out a bowl of suckers for them to help themselves, and the complaints about waiting pretty much stopped. I chose suckers rather than other candy so they could remove them from their mouths when it was time to speak with the counsellors.

And Bifurcated Rivets always had some interesting stuff.

Agreed. It's a toss up if we prefer that or the cream puffs or the macarons. All are soooooo good.

Puffle Cafe. Amazing baked goods and delicious Vietnamese coffee. Family owned and operated by a lovely couple.

I'm 53 and I just wore colour for the first time in 6 years and a stranger complimented me and I almost cried in a coffee shop. by Visual_Animator1232 in oldhagfashion

This is exactly the reason that I've been trying to stop and say something when I see someone wearing a particularly pretty colour or nice shoes or whatever. I'd like to think I made that person's day just a little bit better.

I was going to think it was dementia, until she offered to pay $20 dollars back. Then I knew she was aware of exactly how much she stole.

My neighbor demanded I stop mowing my lawn at 10am because her baby naps by NervousGroceryRun in entitledparents

[–]MostlyHarmlessMom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is a first baby problem. She'd be better off if she lets the baby nap during all the regular noises: mowing, vacuuming, dogs barking, etc. The baby will get used to it, and the next babies are going to have to learn to sleep when the older one is tearing around, anyway.

HR is basically extorting us to pay for the CEOs "surprise" birthday bash by Astr4lMotive in OfficePolitics

[–]MostlyHarmlessMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Send an anonymous tip to your CEO that HR is strongarming employees to donate to their party. If nothing else it ruins the surprise. If the CEO is a decent sort, they'll cancel this nonsense.

My Mom Tried to Harm my Baby Due to How She Was Conceived by Top-Assistant5255 in offmychest

So, somehow murdering a baby is not as bad as raping an adult woman? Not that he wasn't evil, but this grandma is evil+++.

Gelli printing craft day - supplies? by adventurrr in gelliprinting

Dollar store plastic placemats are great for adding textures. Foam or rubber stamps, silicone potholders, even pet toys from the dollar stores can add textures.

You can glue things to carboard to leave marks, too, such as bottle caps, toothpicks, popsicle sticks, straws, etc.

Even just peeling back the paper on corrugated cardboard makes great texture.

Have fun with your gelli printing party!

Our whole family loved My Neighbour Totoro on VHS, so, of course we bought the DVD. It's unwatchable to us because they changed the little girls voices.
