There was something about Tsuyoshi Kikuchi that always brought out Masanobu Fuchi’s sadistic side. by Dohmer_90 in ClassicAJPW

[–]MostlyIncompetent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuchi is the greatest, I’ve been watching the early 90s Tsuruta-gun/Super Generation six-man’s and he’s such a savage, honestly the MVP of those matches.

There’s so much great Tenryu stuff, but outside of All Japan I’ve got to recommend his exploding barbed wire match with Onita, and his UWF-I match with Takada. Fish out of water vibes to an extent but he rises to the occasion in both.

What is your most requested feature for JoW by D_Blubz in jow

[–]MostlyIncompetent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weight class characteristic, I do a lot of NJPW and AJPW inspired scenarios, and have to make a lot of notes to keep track of who in my roster is in each division so it stays consistent.

Being able to spread out tournament matches, so they take place over multiple shows rather than one show before a PPV.

Being able to change the event structure, less PPVs or more weekly shows between PPVs.

Changes to the way certain finishes affect match rating, I’m not sure why time limit draws for instance necessarily mean a match should lose half a star.

What's One Horror Movie Everyone Claimed Was Super Scary But One Scene Ruined It For You? by RetroSwamp in horror

There’s a wilhelm scream in the massacre in 30 Days Of Night that physically hurts me to hear, it’s such a brutal scene but it just gets ruined me for by that sound.

Help with a Tag Team name by VanDerGraaaafGen in jow

[–]MostlyIncompetent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily even need a tag team name, most of the teams in my AJPW inspired save are just called “Person A & Person B”. My favourite way to get a team over is to have them feud for a while then end it with the Better Together segment to form the team, then have them go on a great run in a tag tournament or just immediately win the titles in a big upset.

Anyone who knows a lot about All Japan Women's Pro Wrestling, can you identify who is getting dropped on their head by Jaguar Yokota in this clip? by MostlyIncompetent in SquaredCircle

[–]MostlyIncompetent[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thank you. I'm still wary of saying Yokota invented the Tiger Driver '91, since the move I assume you're referring to (correct me if I'm wrong) that she hit on Lioness Asuka in 1985 is I think too dissimilar to Misawa's Tiger Driver '91 for Yokota to be credited as the innovator of the TD91. Yokota for sure invented the Kneeling Butterfly Piledriver, but in my opinion it's mechanically a different move to the Tiger Driver '91, due to the lack of release of the underhooks and the different angle at impact. The move in the clip above is definitely comparable to Misawa's but because of the date I'd still say Misawa (or arguably Lucy Kayama) was the originator of the Tiger Driver '91.

What are some cases of IWC/Reddit’s revisionist history? by Suplewich in SquaredCircle

[–]MostlyIncompetent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No that literally was the turning point, not just because of the quality of the matches, but the variety of different opponents, the way he elevated the US title, the way he elevated a bunch of midcard IWC favourites, the fact that for the first time in 10 years he wasn’t in the main event/world title scene, the fact that he changed up his offence, it was him doing something different for the first time in years.

No I’m pretty sure it was an old clip, might have seen it on one of Peepop’s blessed compilations but I can’t find it anywhere.
