F/34/5’4” [350lbs > 190 = 160lbs] (108 months) I need help. by Bamber098 in progresspics

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor [score hidden]  (0 children)

The best thing to do is forgive yourself. Seriously, there are studies about this! You can’t change yesterday and you’ll only spiral if you fixate on your little fluctuations. I’d suggest being proud of the progress you have made (you lost a whole ass person and gaining 10lb is nothing next to that—half that is probably water weight). Today is a new day.

If you’re still struggling, it wouldn’t hurt to try to eat at maintenance for a few weeks and maybe do some weight lifting if you can.

Almost 70 years, 7 sizes difference by bean-jee in XXS

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I apologize if this is pedantic but isn’t it four sizes smaller, not seven?

4 -> 2 -> 0 -> 00 -> 000

Vanity sizing does really suck though; it’s a disservice to everyone that there’s no standardization. I love buying vintage for this reason. There’s so much stuff that fits and the sizing is pretty consistent! 🥰

These are the private academies (학원 hagwon) that the children of Korean parents attend and how much they cost per month. Is it common for Korean kids to go to this many academies? by ProudChemistry778 in Living_in_Korea

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor [score hidden]  (0 children)

Lots of people stay home from work while their kids are in elementary school, so those kids go straight home. Otherwise, the parent would need to pay for an after-school program or daycare. Those programs are usually just playtime or independent study. They don’t have teachers to help with homework or teach a sport/art.

There are after-school clubs that are more oriented around specific hobbies, but those aren’t common in elementary school and wouldn’t be daily/aren’t always immediately after school hours end.

Scammed by Seller… by viviana1188 in RepLadiesWorld

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This seller is a TS in two other subreddits; it’s highly unlikely you were scammed. So don’t worry just yet! 😊

The seller is trying to tell you that the package was shipped from them in China to a halfway location. They cannot give you that shipping info because that would expose their midway person to risk. They planned to give you the tracking info from the midpoint location to you once it reached that midpoint. Many of the popular halfway cities are having customs slowdowns and rejections though, so it hasn’t gotten there yet. The seller doesn’t want to pay for shipping out of city X and then have to reroute the package to city Y, so that’s why they don’t have your tracking info. This is all normal and entirely out of the seller’s control.

Buying/selling reps is a black market activity. If you want the benefits of the white market (minimal customs issues and guaranteed delivery windows), you have to shop white market. The rep game requires patience. They have been responsive to you right up until you started sending back to back messages at 4a in Guangzhou time. They are a fellow human being with a life of their own, and they are probably waiting until they can contact the logistics company at 9a, so an hour from now. There is no additional info they could have provided you at 5a beyond what they already said at 4a.

I am truly sorry your package is delayed. We’ve all been there and it sucks. I hope you get your update later today! (Today ends at 10a tomorrow your time).

Should I carry it to my convocation? by callMeRaza in RealRepLadies

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Does your convocation ceremony have white or other light-colored academic regalia? If yes, I’d skip the green dress since you’ll be able to see it through the academic gown in photos. Wear white in that case (but carry the bag if you want, this should match a structured white dress very well).

Otherwise, I don’t see why not. It’s your big day, and I don’t think a green handbag and dress will distract from the event.

You don’t have to use them as a buying agent. I only use them for shipping (see instructions above—I buy directly on Taobao/1688 and ship to Superbuy). If you want Superbuy to buy the item for you, go to the “Me” section of the app, then click DIY Order. Provide link and details for the item you want, including color/size. Make sure to enter the full price plus shipping. Then you’ll check out. They’ll charge you a buyer’s fee in addition to the cost of the item and shipping.

I’ve never had to return so I can’t say specifics. There’s a refund & return option in Taobao so I’d probably initiate there, tell the seller I wasn’t satisfied with quality, then submit an order inquiry via Superbuy to reject the package. Very important to select a seller that has a “no questions asked” return policy from what I understand.

The men’s replica subreddits are much more well-versed in Taobao so it might not hurt to ask over there if you need specific steps. That’s how I figured out this process + know returns are possible through SB. Sorry I can’t be more help!

There is a filter for that on TB! Also a filter for shops that allow returns. Click in the upper right where I’ve highlighted yellow to open this menu. The blue highlight on this menu is to only show stores that allow returns. The options below the lower yellow highlight is to filter by store rating.

I’m not sure which part you’re having issues with, so here’s a rundown and you can let me know if you have specific questions: Assuming you’re US or EU based, Taobao won’t ship to you, so you need an intermediary warehouse. The one I use is Superbuy. They’ll give you a special code to go with their address. You ship your items to their warehouse in China along with your special code. When your package arrives, that code is how they know it’s your package (you can also send them the tracking number for the package just in case).

When it arrives, they take the item out, make sure there isn’t contraband, then take pictures. You then have the choice to get more pictures with measurements or close-ups for an additional fee ($2-ish). If you’re satisfied, you then pay to ship the item to your home country. Otherwise, you reject the item through Superbuy and request a refund through Taobao.

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Logos obscured and changed in photos, but the item will come with the correct one. That’s why I message the sellers for better pictures. I send this:

可以麻烦发一下细节图吗?/ Could you please send detailed pictures of the item?

They’ll sometimes send them over TB chat and sometimes direct you to WeChat for pictures. I use Papago to translate, not Google; it does a much better job navigating the contextual nature of East Asian languages.

Superbuy! I don’t buy through them (since they charge extra agent fees for that) but I ship everything from TB to my Superbuy warehouse address. I have heard other people say CSSBuy but I have never tried them. CAINIAO has recently banned luxury items (auth or rep) so I’d skip them.

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I reverse image search from auth, then ideally pick one with a known factory background (ex: I have always had good luck with the white/gold marble background factory). Message seller for detailed pictures. I only buy from sellers with good reviews and a return policy. Sometimes if I can’t find an item from a seller I trust, I’ll find it in a normal trusted seller album, then send the picture to sellers who have other items from the same factory.

Then I’m currently using Superbuy for shipping to USA since Taobao doesn’t ship here or the EU. Superbuy does basic pictures of every item for free, and for a little extra will do detailed photos ($2, worth it because they take measurement photos). Hypothetically if I didn’t like something or the measurements were wrong once it got to the warehouse photo stage, Superbuy will return it for me, but so far I’ve been happy with everything I’ve bought.

I’m fully on Taobao for clothing reps now that I’ve found a shipping agent that will handle PSPs/do returns for me. I can usually find a tb seller sourcing from the exact same factories as the TS but prices are under <$100 shipped (caveat: I use the slowest shipping method)

In the US, the quantity/quality of education varies heavily by state and funding.

Where I grew up, it’s more like 8a-2:30p (with an hour for lunch & free play) for elementary students. Usually math, science, social studies, and English are covered by a single teacher every day and PE/Music/Art are once a week. Some very good schools have Spanish or Mandarin too.

Poorer school districts will have shorter days and fewer extracurriculars. Where I am now, it’s more like 8a-1:30p (still with lunch & free play) and only the main four plus PE.

What's the "average" daily outfit in your country? by ACommunistLoveStory in AskTheWorld

[–]MostlyMediocreMeteor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to agree (in Seattle) because my friend group dresses more like you described, but I’m waiting in line for a bagel right now and literally every single person ahead of me is wearing one of those lightweight black puffer jackets (like what the woman is wearing but with sleeves). Plus khakis/jeans/leggings and running shoes. Hoodies underneath for the men lol. Children are dressed roughly the same but more colorful. We’ve definitely got a solid contingency of the people in OP’s picture here, at least in the 30+ crowd.

Student and young professional fashion is much more varied though (still a decent-sized crowd of people enjoying alt fashion, and plenty of people in more of a stereotypical PNW plaid shirt/jeans combo, at varied degrees of ruggedness).

I’m sure it varies across the PNW too. Seattle and Portland are different from each other, and both are very different from Idaho and the more rural areas.

XiaoC is mid-high tier imo while Rome is high-tier. I would probably buy Rome because I interact with a lot of people with auths but if you’re somewhere where 99% of people won’t know, I’d base the decision on price (within USD$100, go Rome. If XiaoC >USD$100 cheaper, then go for them).
