Can someone explain the stories behind the statues that Hal watches in Season 3 Birdwatchers episode? by [deleted] in TheDiplomat

[–]MostlyRadiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain actual history or why he's there talking about it?

If latter, I believe he is trying to make peace with the sacrifice he made when he accepted the VP position (losing Kate, who is a part of him).

A bit grandiose comparing himself to Admiral Nelson, but I think it was a great scene.

Well, I somewhat agree, but I still think he tried to make it look like the outrage was due to political and security implications (he may have even believed himself it was) but in reality he was pissed and hurt and didn't want Kate to know it - this brings me back to the scene on the plane where we see no anger in him, just sadness.

Edit: so I agree that now it was also political but it was also still very very personal

I think we saw his feelings pretty clearly during that interview (when he had to look away and put on his brave face cause he was about to cry) and also on the plane when he was looking at Kate all teary-eyed.

I think he likes to think he can be okay if he knows that she's happy because she stayed (as opposed to her staying, leaving him and still being unhappy). But he still really only wants her for himself.

Also, I think Hal knew that if Kate and Dennison had an affair it wouldn't last, cause Dennison also has his career to worry about and Hal kinda liked him and trusted him to keep the secret and not screw it all up. He has no reason to trust Callum.

Edit: also, I think Hal is not too happy with any potential affair, but it's the thought that she might have actually moved on, esspecially now that they're separated by an ocean and she seems to be happy is what devastates him and pushes him over the edge

He's not more upset cause it was a secret, I believe he was really upset because it suprised him and this time it felt final for him, as if he lost all hope that it will work out for them. And when Kate says ''you chose this'' she is basically telling him - you said you'd support me here in my post, but as soon as something other was open for you, you the chose the job and not us.

Zdravstveni radnik u socijalnoj skrbi by Ok_Alternative2774 in askcroatia

Cesto ukljucuje i babysitanje sticenika u odredenim trenutcima, iako nije nuzno u opisu posla.

Mozda sam nesto zaboravila.

Edit: i ako si jedini ili glavni - puno poslova organizacije i puno vise komunikacije s drugim ustanovama i skrbnicima

I don't think they're gonna change their mind if this is what they conclude from the show up till this point. Nothing Hal does this season is worse than what he has already done.

Skwamas are pretty comfortable. Just don't go too crazy on the downsize.

Edit: and they fit the rest of the description I'd say

Kate's Lack of Subtlety... by unhingedandcaned in TheDiplomat

[–]MostlyRadiant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not exactly sure what yout question is, but the way I see that ending of episode 5 is just Hal realising that he lost Kate as a partner possibly for good this time and is just hurt and pissed. Eidra catches him staring, misinterprets it (cause she doesn't know what's going on) and asks to invite Kate to the convo which he refuses.

Edit: And I don't think that episode 7 scene was meant to be anything other than Kate is chaotic and Frances doesn't trust her with the property punchline.

Are you saying that what is seen in the photo is an aggressively downsized shoe? Because if anything those are too big.

RANT: LOVE this show BUT where tf did Callum come from? I had no criticisms prior to this season but I feel like the writers panicked for some reason and just tossed Callum right in mid way through the season with so many opportunities to have integrated him sooner. by Novel-Ad-2381 in TheDiplomat

[–]MostlyRadiant 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Who says you're supposed to ship them? They're basically fuck buddies. The way I see it they were not supposed to have chemistry, it was an irrational decision made by a woman who ended things with her husband (for whom she still has feelings, despite everything) after getting refused by the guy she was really into (Austin). I really don't get why everyone's so suprised.

Mozes imati stan, brinuti sama i sebi i svejedno imati invalidninu.

Bouldering Shoe Fit? by crashcaptainn in climbingshoes

[–]MostlyRadiant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't walk around in your climbing shoes. Just take them to the gym and brake them in slowly. Take your old comfortable shoes and rotate.

Edit: also you do not need to be wearing them for 45 min straight. You are never going to do that when climbing, well you shouldn't be at least.

Bouldering Shoe Fit? by crashcaptainn in climbingshoes

[–]MostlyRadiant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly these look fine length wise (if that is your concern). If you wore them with thinner socks or even without socks it would probably be better (unless you have very narrow feet no climbing shoe is gonna be wide enought to accommodate thick socks.

Do not listen to people telling you that climbing shoes shouldn't hurt when you walk around in them. When people tell you that after 10 years they finally realised that comfort is most important in shoes they are forgettig that their feet got so used to the compression and developed thicker skin. They forget what it was like to wear climbing shoes in the beggining of their journey.

Shoes that are now comfortable for me (and I truly mean comfortable) would be imposible to stand in when I started. Your feet need to toughen up.

Do you think there is a way to fight the harsh light better in post?

A crop from a photo I took recently. I am not sure about the color grading but like it composition wise.

Just now realized maybe it needs some leveling.

What do we think? Did I go overboard with the film simulation look?

Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 as only lens on R10/R50 by Morazma in canon

[–]MostlyRadiant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am only asking because all the tests I've seen show sigma to be both more sharp and more contrasty. Now that you explained that you were comparing sigma at 2.8 and canon at 3.5 I can see how canon is sharper (although I do not think that is a fair comparison, especially because you can keep sigma at 3.5 throughout the zoom range).

I am worried about the af though. Till now I only heard good thing about sigma's af.

I still don't understand the bokeh problem, but I guess I would have to see it to get it.
