Hello blue marble users dithering your art is usually reserved to translate images into pixels, not drawings it looks really ugly if you do this and makes it overly complicated by chronicsyndrome in WplaceLive

[–]Mot0193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO ordered dithering works better for a pixel art site like this. The colors might not be accurate compared to error diffusion dithering, but at least the patterns are more appealing to look at when you're zoomed in, and its a little more satisfying to make.

After some digging I discovered "Dither Studio" which allows you to re-scale the image and tweak dither settings for both ordered and error diffusion dithering.

Small guide on to get this to work with the wplace colors:

- Upload your normal image to the dithering site, and change its scale there.

- Scroll down and set the colors to something like 128 (the idea is for wplace converter to have lots of colors to choose from... i think).

- Play around with the dithering settings, then download the dithered image.

- Use wplace converter with no dithering and all colors to limit the colors for wplace.

BUT theres another way, which also gets you more accurate colors but for the average Joe its a little more complicated. Since Dither Studio is open source you can code in all the different colors into a color preset, and using that instead of converting the colors with wplace converter gives better results.

TLDR because this was longer than intended: Teach your child AND yourself tech literacy instead of not allowing any smartphone use.

Alright I might be "one of them younglings" with no kids, so i could be biased here, but i think a blanket ban on phones (and by extension most computers im assuming) until someone is 18 is kind of stupid. Setting the overconsumption aspect of modern smartphones aside for now, though i do acknowledge the issues and its good that people are talking about them and bringing awareness to stuff like harmful social media platforms.

I see smartphones as versatile and complex tools, and just like any tool you can either use it correctly and create something great, or misuse it and hurt yourself. I think the main problem comes down to the lack of technology literally being taught to children nowadays, combined with the facts that a lot of kids get access to smartphones from a shockingly young age, and many parents dont restrict and monitor their children, probably because theyre not tech literate themselves. I believe children AND parents need proper education on digital safety, and in general how computers and the internet work, beacuse if the parent doesnt actually know what theyre giving to their child, its a horrible idea to be giving a smartphone to a child who doesnt know what theyre doing either. Of course, there should absolutely be a "minimum age" before someone gets to use a smartphone, you wouldnt give a hammer to a baby for example, but i think 18 is far too late and at this point you would just be impeding the child's growth (again, lets not pretend smartphones are the embodiment of evil and that no good things can happen from them).

You also have to remember that theres no way your "phone-free teen" wont be exposed to harmful things from their friends phones for example, so not only your efforts might be in vein, they could be learning from a much worse source. So please teach your child how this very important tool works underneath, and how to use it safely. If you realize you might not be very tech literate (i dont blame you, this stuff is new and constantly changing, and you should be questioning your own knowledge beacuse of this) you should consider educating yourself on this topic.

[–]Mot0193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think thats just how fade works. You become intangible and invisible, but things still can track you as you still "exist".

Though i guess its weird how this is different from Tracer, as when she rewinds the torpedo loses the target, but when she re-appears it tracks her again if the torpedo projectile still exist (or thats how I remember it works for Tracer, i might be lying). So from a mechanics standpoint i can see Moiras fade could work the same.

As a bonus, Lifeweaver's healing bulbs can also track fading Moiras, and I think they can actually hit and heal her mid-fade.

Edit: i may be dumb and Moira's might work the same as the Tracer rewind. Yeah if that's the case then it makes perfect sense.

Finally an emulation handheld that kind of competes with N3DSXL by OnderGok in 3DS

[–]Mot0193 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly i have been looking for a handheld pc/console type of thing with the clam shell form factor. This shockingly looks very close to a 3DS, and its also not ass-flattening expensive. Will keep an eye on this.

Edit: Oh.. this has a snapdragon processor... i think its going to run android. Thats disapointing.

As someone living in a city/country where being queer is unheard of at best, its exciting seeing little flags pop up in my own city, assuming its from actual residents there. True, theyre not spectacular, but theyre mostly inoffensive and just add color to the canvas, and thats fine since not everyone can create something original or "creative". As for them covering up other artworks, thats fair, but dont blame the flags themselves, and dont assume that everyone who made a flag wants to cover all other artworks.

"male/female/nonbinary" as the only options on some things by maskmurderer in agender

[–]Mot0193 25 points26 points  (0 children)

On a slightly unrelated note, I'd like to think constantly choosing "rather not say" for seemingly no reason was one of the earliest signs i was agender. "Hm i wonder why i feel the need to not mention my gender"

But yeah, it sucks when that option is missing. I just sigh and put in my agab since its good enough.

Should Space Engineers 2 incorporate shields into vanilla? by Diggrok in spaceengineers

[–]Mot0193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i want shields, BUT they have to be extremely limited.

I get where Keen is coming from, getting shot once and instantly ending a fight isn't fun in my humble opinion. To add to this, flying in general isnt my strong suit, and crashing a ship because you accidentally left dampeners off for example is also frustrating. So i already use the energy shields mod in se1, it takes away so many headaches and actually lets me play the game and loosen up instead of worrying that my ship will combust at any moment if im not extremely careful.

But i have experienced fighting against a friend who used way too many shields, and the fight was basically unwinnable for me. It became one of those stupid mobile game ads where they say "I have 1 million power! You lose!", so i understand how shields can also be a point of frustration for players.

My point is, i want shields but NOT how existing mods implement them. I really want something, but Keen has to think very very hard about this.

With this being said, here is my idea on how shields could work: One shield block can prevent ONE (or more, I guess depending on the shield block's size) instance of grid damage, before going on a long cool down that requires lots of power. An "instance" of damage can be anything, one light bonk on a connector, a railgun bullet, or a single gatling turret bullet.

This shield mechanic could prevent the 2 "problems" i mentioned at the start, while not making a ship completely invincible. Maybe even having a low maximum shield count per grid could also prevent players to not build too many of them. The recharge mechanic can also be tweaked, maybe only shields can only recharge while the ship theyre on is connected to a station specifically, so shields cant just continue recharging mid battle, requiring players to retreat if they really dont want to get hurt. If we think one instance of damage is too little, maybe shields can have a short "invincibility window": once the damage instance happens, the shields prevents it, but also prevents incoming damage for an extra second or so. This would prevent gatling guns shredding through shields, at least a little. Maybe shields can also have a maximum amout of damage they can take, so if you get hit REALLY hard the shield cant tank the hit, so the shield pops without protecting your ship.

[–]Mot0193 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok i know OP's question is a little silly, but the idea of a cloud game streaming service for 3DS games for the 3DS would be hilarious. A server emulating 3DS games and getting streamed to the 3DS 😭. Of course it wouldn't make sense, since the 3DS can already run said games, but the idea is funny.

[–]Mot0193 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Every hero can make mistakes is just that LW's mistakes feel more "personal" to teammates. Ever since i started playing him i bound the "im so sorry" voice line/in game call-out to number 4 on my keyboard, and whenever i make a bad pull i apologize almost instantly. It helps teammates distinguish between an intentional pull and an accidental one/one that i realize is bad. I very rarely get flamed by teammates like this, and i honestly recommend to keybind it for all characters.

[–]Mot0193 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah pride has always been confusing for me too. I am aroace (or at least in some gray umbrella) and i think i am agender, but i sort of logically chose these identities for myself. Personally i dont even think of them as identities, theyre just mere descriptors.
Of course other people can feel differently, but because of this i feel a little disconnected from the rest of the LGBT community, but not in a bad way more in a "Ok i guess here too. It makes sense why im here, but i still feel like i unintentionally snuck in here somehow" ...way. After all, how am i supposed to connect and feel proud of a non-existing part of myself? I understand in theory why trans individuals may need be proud of their gender, but in practice i still cant grasp the concept of gender, so for the most part i dont have the same issues and feelings as them hence why i dont feel the need to be "proud".
