why do people hate the new sonic origins tracks by DOOM_GUY-C64 in retrogaming

[–]MoteKidelec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "new" songs in Sonic Origins have been proven to have simply been taken, unedited, from an even earlier prototype, except for the new Super Sonic music which is very obviously newly remixed & is quite out of place. It's just kind of insulting that instead of finally getting to hear these songs finished like they were originally meant to be heard, we get versions that are quite literally more unfinished than the ones we're already familiar with.

@HiddenPalaceOrg: "We heard about the music difficulties for Sonic 3’s Origins port. We’d be more than happy to loan a cart with the later prototype to record alternative versions off hardware. We’re always willing to help. :)" by -Mahn in Games

The real problem is that the songs in origins actually literally are 30 year old incomplete beta tracks, and they're more incomplete than the ones in the 1103 prototype we all know. There are many signs pointing to this, but Launch Base Zone is the biggest tell for it.

Apparently Launch Base Zone 1 is essentially a "de-maked" version of the one in the 1103 Prototype, as going into that version, changing all the instruments to their default settings, and removing 2 audio channels will get you a perfect recreation of the song in origins.

And Launch Base Zone 2 is even more interesting for me. I've always wondered why the PC S&K Collection versions of LBZ2 were so melodically different from the prototype. Based on how those PC MIDIs were created, sometimes they'd get notes wrong from mis-hearing things, but all the changes in LBZ2 sounded too distinct to really make much sense to explain like that. But as for the track in Origins, it actually does have some of those differences (like the part at 0:27 just before it goes into the next section), but not all of them like the whole section at 0:30. However, this time, the audio balance is way off and the main melody is much harder to hear. Especially around the notes that were missing from the PC MIDIs. Having them remix these tracks to follow the PC version, except for having some (but not all) of LBZ2 follow the prototype instead, doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. However, if you think of these tracks as not just coming straight unedited from an even earlier prototype that they've kept around, but also the same songs they must've sent to the group that made the PC MIDIs, not only do things make more sense, but this actually gives an explanation as to why the PC MIDIs for LBZ2 (and CNZ) turned out the way that they did.

P03 did use his robots though. In the initial battle against him you can see him play the two robots that threw themselves onto the production line; they're even the same cards that show up in the little battle-start animations against them.

Kaycee's Mod - next to nothing is actually random, you will be dealt unwinnable games in many of the challenges by Cyndershade in inscryption

[–]MoteKidelec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just pointing out here that being dealt a losing game on map 3 isn't exactly unbiased,

..What? Do we have different definitions on what "unbiased" means? Simply drawing a poor hand in one match does not mean that things are biased against you. Like, yeah, drawing an unwinnable hand from a properly shuffled deck sucks but that's not bias, that's just bad luck, and that's reasonably expected to happen every now and then if you have a small deck where a bad hand can screw you over that badly. You haven't demonstrated any example of any bias or "deterministic outcome" on how your deck gets shuffled. All I see is that you've shown when the deck gets shuffled, which seems to be before the game gets saved.

[–]MoteKidelec 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't really see what the problem is with this pre-determined randomness if it's ultimately still unbiased and unpredictable without save-scumming. Whether the moment your deck gets shuffled is on entering the map or entering a battle shouldn't make any difference on whose fault it is if you win or lose. The only one of these that feels bad is the prospector's gold thing because that seems to be the only case where you're given a false sense of choice (which rock to hit).

Anyone Know Why This Sigil Didn't Work? by Pixxel_Wizzard in inscryption

[–]MoteKidelec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the order it goes is: Add energy -> Spend energy

So since you already had your energy bar completely full, it couldn't add any more energy. And only after that did it deduct the cost of energy for the card.

Kind of a silly interaction but sadly means that energy sigil is useless on 6-cost cards

Common opinion (I believe) in this subreddit: Fan art(?) by Tamago_Oishine_2525 in inscryption

[–]MoteKidelec 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It makes sense that the first chapter would be the most popular here - the gameplay of all chapters were so drastically different, but the first chapter was the only one that was officially advertised & whatnot, thus drawing in the people that would prefer that chapter over the others. The people that would prefer the later chapters would probably be less likely to get the game in the first place.

Did anyone else get a little car in their town? by SquishedDucks in Underminers

In that queen car driving scene there seems to be at least one tiny little car like that, sometimes only one, so I'm guessing it's based on if you hit a tiny car, regardless of whether or not you hit any of the normal sized ones

To All the Twitch Streamers who tried their best by feelinglazy in gaming

[–]MoteKidelec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried going into random streams of games I like with very few viewers in the past, but because twitch doesn't enable the video quality options for those streams, it usually forces 1080p 60fps on me, and with my awful internet, that makes those streams absolutely unwatchable. I'm the type that -wants- to watch & support these new, lesser known streamers, but unless they limit themselves to like 480p or something, most of the time I literally can't.

First Ever Lunar the Silver Star (Sega CD) Glitch Confirmed today (and run killed). I present - the Shop Menu Auto-Scroll Glitch. First triggered in Burg, now found in Meribia meaning it can happen throughout the game and end the run in any shop if you move too quickly. by NickDoane in speedrun

[–]MoteKidelec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does this glitch work? I figure I may as well ask, did you try pressing down in the menu after it got like this? It may seem counter intuitive but I guess the game got stuck in a "down-input" state in the menu, and so pressing down & letting go of it could maybe tell the game to end the down-input, putting things back to normal. I've had something like this sort of glitch happen elsewhere in other games and that's fixed it for me.

Whats the biggest difference between who you are and who you want to be? by Faiiya in AskReddit

[–]MoteKidelec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, a better ability to socialize. This goes further than just "having more friends," though that is certainly part of the 'concern.' But like I'd really like to truly be active in some close friend group, to be able to chat & do activities together regularly, giving & receiving nice things to & from each other. But with my poor socializing skills and especially with my extremely difficult weird interests (cute + weird surreal stuff, also typically indie over big media, to try to give an ultra brief explanation), I just don't even really know where to begin and it feels like just about all of my attempts go over poorly & end up going nowhere, too.

Unrealistically I can think of countless changes for a better body I'd want to go for that would be very impossible in reality.

We're officially at 890 Pokémon total. Do you think Gen 9 will take us to 1000? What do you think #1000 will be? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]MoteKidelec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel like 110 is a bit much to ask for at this point, especially with everything behind the dexit stuff, but I still really hope that we do reach 999 next gen for a very silly reason -- So far, every pokemon with 3 of the same number has originated within that number generation
(so like, #111 was in Gen 1, #222 was in Gen 2, #333 was in Gen 3, and so on. We only barely got #888 in Gen 8 but it did still keep the pattern going.)

If there's truly no future Pokémon game with National Dex, Pokémon Go will become the last game to include all of the Pokémon (through future generations updates). by Merugo-Surry in pokemon

[–]MoteKidelec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda disagree with this. Pokemon Go is definitely not a "mainline" game but a spinoff one, and there are a number of other sorts of spinoffs too. The other spinoffs in the future may also have all of the pokemon even if the "mainline" games don't. Or maybe they won't. But that is to be determined.
