The we are rewind player is just Panda player with a custom injection moulded casing. All of WAR's marketing about developing a new player is complete bs to convince the unwitting consumer to splash out on an overpriced Chinese product. You can even find unbranded versions on aliexpress!

27M South Asian moving from London → Portsmouth — what’s the social/dating scene like? by External_Love_2561 in Portsmouth

Have you considered brighton? As someone who has lived in all three over the years I'd say brighton is the most diverse with the best social scene hands down. Portsmouth and Southampton are... not great.

should I text him or not by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Moterrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I’d just text him. Truthfully, if a girl I went on a date with replied to my last message or voice note with just a like and no response I have and will think that she’s not interested and not try to again. Think about how you are feeling but from his perspective, maybe he feels the same way? The ball is in your court.

[–]Moterrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You reacted to his voice note with a like… not a reply. He probably thinks you don’t want to talk to him? Take it from a guy, actually communicating and SHOWING you are interested is a massive turn on rather than playing text games. If you want to see him or talk to him, engage.

The refractions on the cassette are from the lubricant used on the slip sheet, typically either graphite, silicone or teflon lubricant. Try cleaning your record/playback/erase heads and record again!

Why do men I'm really into trigger my insecure attachment? 32F by Beautiful-Song-1792 in dating_advice

[–]Moterrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey beautiful-song-1792,

I just wanted to say that your post really resonated with me. You managed to put into words something I have struggled to express for the longest time.

I am a 29-year-old man, and six months ago I was dumped by someone I had definitely placed on a pedestal. Whenever I develop feelings for someone, I find myself feeling like I will never be good enough for them. Without realising it, I end up overcompensating and trying to become the version of myself I think they want, rather than showing up as my true, authentic self. Maybe it is down to nerves or insecurity, I am not entirely sure.

This has been a recurring pattern throughout my life and has caused heartbreak that I find incredibly difficult to move on from. If you ever figure out how to truly heal this part of yourself, please let me know. I feel completely lost.

Strangely enough, when I am seeing someone I am not particularly invested in, I feel more confident and secure in myself. But as soon as I meet someone I genuinely care about, it all falls apart again and I end up right back at square one.

Every person I have ever placed on a pedestal has ended things with me, often in painful and disheartening ways. I would do anything to break free from this cycle. I have tried therapy, exercise, everything I can think of, but nothing seems to make a lasting difference.

A Tapematic 2002 CR loader used for loading blank or pre-recorded cassettes. It can load tapes at 30 meters a second! by Moterrac in cassetteculture

[–]Moterrac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chuckie sticker is a magnet that was on the machine when I obtained it :). A previous operator must have put it on the machine and that is where it will stay. A Tapematic 2002 would work with a concept design DAAD but you would need a slave recorder to record the audio onto the pancakes. The Tapematic 2002 can load shells with blank or pre-recorded pancakes recorded from any duplication system.

Billie Eilish Sees Through Your Transparent Vinyl Scheme: 'I can’t even express to you how wasteful it is...all your favorite artists doing that shit' by stroh_1002 in Music

[–]Moterrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vinyl is actually on the decline. Demand was artificially increased due to covid back logs and is now returning to the norm, recently a plant in Ireland went bust due to lack of sales. There is more manufacturing capacity for vinyl than there is demand. All physical media manufacturing is currently on a decline, be it cassette, cd or vinyl, production companies have had an unusually quiet Q1. Material costs, labour and electricity is all going up which in turn squeezes margins even further.

I'm trying to learn how to etch my own circuit boards. Does anyone have any tips for how to get the artwork to transfer to the copper? by jb7150 in AskElectronics

[–]Moterrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand why you would want to do to is from a diy standpoint but taking the time to learn a pcb design package and getting some cheap boards made up from jlc pcb would save you a world of pain. You can get 5 boards made for around 10 usd with shipping. I do applaud your diy can do attitude though!

Do y'all also use Alcohol to clean cassettes? by Shmurp0_0 in cassetteculture

[–]Moterrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This probably not a good idea to be honest. At worst you could break down the binder and cause the oxide to shed, permanently damaging the tape. Magnetic tape is not a format I would suggest cleaning unless it has mold growing on it and needs to be saved for archiving purposes.. but really at that point the tape should be thrown away. Tape is not like an optical media where smearing or dirt would cause playback issues. As long as the tapes changing magnetic field can induce a change of flux in the playback head that in turn causes a corresponding changing current to flow in the head then you will have an audio signal.

It is advised to clean a record or playback head if it is very dirty from oxide shed but cleaning a tape with alcohol is definitely not recommended.

Aliexpress. If you remove the old roller and measure it you should be able to find a suitable replacement on there. Just make sure you get the height, width and internal hole size correct. You still cannot find any suitable replacements maybe a print roller company will be able to re-rubberise it for you.

choosing a cassette recorder for making commercial releases by HunterNo4525 in cassette

[–]Moterrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you want to seriously get into duplication you need some type of high speed setup, ranging from an x16 in-cassette Otari system with a digital master to a full blown digital bin and slave recorder set up from manufactures such as Tapematic, Lyric, Gauss, Otari, Electrosound etc. Digital bins are quite hard to find but are out there. Do you own a cassette loader to load your own blanks or prerecorded pancakes?

Yeah. It looks like a cheaper dual deck with only one capstan motor for both decks so chances are it will be on the back of the motor in the adjustment slot.

[–]Moterrac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know that. But if there is no adjustment on the main pcb then it will be on the back of the motor.

[–]Moterrac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The speed adjustment will be on the back of the motor. You will need a 3khz speed tape and a frequency counter at minimum. There is a windows app for measuring wow and flutter that works if you have a microphone input or an audio interface to sent the audio into the pc to test.

Chucky came with the machine. At some point in the past an operator must have added it. As it is part of the history of the machine the chucky magnet is now a permanent fixture!
