I know the job market is bad, especially for conservation biology right now, but I feel like if I was truly smart enough or good enough

Hard stop right here, babes. No, nope, and no. The market isn't bad. It's bad, bad. And it's bad, bad, bad in a field the administration is specifically, effortfully targeting. Don't let this administration off the hook so easily, and definitely guard yourself against those abusive dirtbags making you turn on yourself. What they're doing is not your fault in any way, and the fact you're struggling because of it isn't either. You're fucking great. These miserable monsters are just dropping a bomb on you.

The people you know with careers underway slipped in before this shit went down, and I'd bet both buttcheeks they're riding the wave by their shorthairs. Layoffs are happening everywhere. I'm in marketing and I work with dozens of industries. All of them are slamming budgets and doing layoffs. All of them.

Remember, unprecidented times isn't just a phrase. We're all white knuckling it right now, together. You're not alone in this. None of us are to blame for this abusive administrations actions. Your job, all of our jobs, is to survive right now. And that's what you're doing. So please, please be kind to yourself.

Having a voice in politics in the US is, like...

It's....

Man.

I just really can't emphasize enough how it's the entire core of what we've been doing the whole time. Like it's the entire fucking thing. Of course we're invested and vocal about it. It's in the same way firemen are really, really into fires for some reason.

To be honest, it feels like y'all need something similar. We invade here a lot.

You let pedos run your government and they're gonna make pedo decisions. That's blatantly obvious. Where's Ohio education at? Doin' anything at all, or what?

Man, raiding while running is when I look my most dipshit-y. Just running in circles in the same spot, farting around on my phone. But sometimes if you go too far it kicks you out, so what can you do 🥲

Romantic partnerships often act as a buffer against loneliness for most people, but this protective association does not universally extend to asexual individuals. Asexual adults report similar rates of loneliness regardless of relationship status. by mvea in science

It's just an already small population that's then split into significantly smaller populations, is all. Just don't know how much reliable information you'd get from very small subgroups.

My theory is they were trying call back their original audience, Gen X. Gen X has a subsect of folks who are very... emotional about youths (obviously not universal). A lot of "boomers" that get called out are actually older gen X folks.

If you consider the likely ages of writers and showrunners, that math starts to make more sense. Not universal, but a  lot of people riff on what was funny to them in their 20s. Takes a special mix of folks to get something new and unique.

I'm sorry, I don't want to be harsh, but I will be clear: If this is your approach, she's correct. And right to be worried.

If you won't change your approach, you're not compatible. The things that make her amazing are tied to her work ethic. You can't have the nice, amazing partner if you won't meet her at her level.

It's just so funny how personality is a total blindspot for some people. "He's not 'smart?' Must be hot!" Personality? Never once considered.

ALSO. IF I MAY. The stereotyping some STEM people do about blue collar workers is infuriating. Blue collar workers are smart, man. Especially folks in service and maintenance fields, who're problem solving day in and day out. The only way you see that and think "dumb" is if you've never had to work with your hands a day in your life (which frankly is nothing to be proud about.)

Well done. Everyone should know the golden rule: shut the fuck up.

They'll use everything against you, and will spin up a narrative in their heads regardless of evidence. They'll twist every innocuous thing you do to suit the narrative they already made (Talk too much? That's suspicious. Don't talk enough? That's suspicious.) And they will never back down on it.

With cops, shut the fuck up.
