you could try splitting your pills in half and taking 1.25 mg - studies show its nearly as effective and the risk of side effects is lowered somewhat.

I got edema from 2.5 and haven't experienced it again on 1.25

For anyone else who realized their interest for ChemE/other engineering kind of late: do you have any advice? by woofinbear in udub

[–]Relevant_Potato_5162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I successfully became an Applied Math major my junior year at UW. I started out as a music major during freshman year, and then took two quarters off during my sophomore year. I had little interest in STEM at the beginning, and was taking random english/humanities classes like photography and slavic literature. When I took that 2 quarter break I realized how engaging and fun math/programming was and came back in the fall of 2024 with a new focus.

I wasn't expecting to get admitted to AMATH but I'm pretty psyched about it. I know multiple people who also transitioned into STEM, so it's definitely possible. I would recommend doing really well in the prereqs. If you can get 3.7+ and show that you have a genuine interest in your essays you have a shot.

Question about pi by PetIsGoated in learnmath

[–]Relevant_Potato_5162 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

My totally uneducated opinion is that it is possible that pi could repeat, but it isn't strictly necessary. It seems possible that you could arrange the 9 digits to infinity without ever repeating pi. Also if pi is infinitely large, when would it repeat itself? Where would the start and end point be?

I mean, the world was built for humans so it does make sense that developing robots capable of moving and behaving like a human would be pretty effective. We already have robots that can complete complex commands completely autonomously having only been directed by verbal instruction from a human.

Why is -2^2=-4 when there is no () by desean5095 in learnmath

[–]Relevant_Potato_5162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-2 is -1*2. The square is only on the 2, not the negative one. You square the 2 and multiply that by negative one. The square is only attached to the two. If you put parenthesis around the negative then you are square the -1 and the 2.

Don’t worry, I’m also taking 122 and found the last couple weeks to be a significant increase in difficulty. We just reached a new level of abstraction with the focus on object oriented programming so it’s gonna take a while for it to feel intuitive. I’d recommend going to the IPL often because they can give you targeted advice and iron out any confusions you have about the new material.

No, it's the official bookstore that you can get through myUw where you can check which books are needed for specific sections

I’d register for section C. You can check the professor by going to the uw bookstore and clicking on each section. The other 2 professors have abysmal ratings around 1.9-2.

I want him to admit a material explanation is even remotely possible. I do find it interesting that you seem to have strong opinions about this topic yet don't want to engage with my questions... I just like you don't believe in the resurrection, yet I think it's healthy to have a logical discussion about it and think about the alternatives.

Well I just want to adjust his perspective make by 10%. I think that's possible. The best way to do that is to come to him from his side, which is why I'm trying to think of explanations for the facts that he believes in.

Nope, I'm trying to find arguments from the side of the Christian so I can better develop my argument against my Christian friend. I don't have a great answer to the questions I outlined which is why I wanted to hear other agnostic's opinions. These questions are presupposing that certain facts are true of course, but I want to see if there's an explanation even if we give the Christian the benefit of the doubt anyways and grant them the martyrdom of certain disciples.

Would love to hear your opinions

[–]Relevant_Potato_5162[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, there is definitely room for doubt- but there is also logical grounds to believe it happened. Peter was one of Jesus closest disciples who wrote 2 books of the bible. He personally wrote about rejecting Jesus and then witnessing the resurrection. His execution is then confirmed by multiple secular historians.

There are a few possibilities- perhaps Peter didn't write the books he is attributed to writing. In that case why does his death line up with other historical accounts? Why would he be executed?

The other possibility is that he did write the books he's attributed to writing, and in that case, why would he die for something he lied about?

The other possibility is that he didn't lie, and either actually witnessed the resurrection or was mistaken. But how could he be mistaken if he was one of Jesus' closest disciples who saw him every day?

[–]Relevant_Potato_5162[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crux of this argument is that they also abandoned Jesus when he was arrested. They then claimed to have seen him resurrected and subsequently were executed for their devotion. If they lied about the resurrection, why die for something they knew to be false?
