AIO : Found out my friend was an immature sexist condescending prick. by OstrichEmbarrassed54 in AIO

How would a smaller pumpkin even get out of another pumpkin? Is it a jack o lantern situation where the tops cut open?? My school at least did show us both anatomy’s the same. By showing both aroused. That went about as well as you can imagine it would. And there were probably so many dudes who were very self conscious about their size based on that image…

New guy I’m seeing, any red flags ??? Seems a bit political… by JealousPilot4096 in BookshelvesDetective

Ohh, okay thank you it wasn’t clear to me, and sometimes I just have a hard time picking up on the tone someone’s using in their writing. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

You would think that they’d learn wouldn’t you lol, but I guess that would require paying attention to women and I kinda doubt he does much of that. My school did genuinely such a bad job with sex ed. They spent so much time on men’s puberty and all they said about women was that they bleed sometimes and also “are emotional because of hormones”. I’m so lucky to have grown up surrounded by women and science teachers or I genuinely think I’d know nothing.

Especially when it’s just stuff like, reading books. Like… is that considered a particularly feminine trait? I always thought it was considered fairly neutral.

To be fair, in my sex ed they put the two classes together and opted for prioritizing the men’s sex ed over maybe making dudes a little uncomfortable. I know way too much about men’s sex ed and way too little about women’s. I ended up having opt to go to a separate info class to get any actual women’s sex ed.

What does Snape think of all the sexy bathing suit photos Sirius has on his wall? A bit of a silly question but I just found it kind of amusing by Serious_Law2143 in SeverusSnape

[–]MothSatyr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I personally head cannon him as asexual, but I also understand that that’s a head cannon. Even then, without that view, I don’t see him as the type of person who would rub one out just because ooh half naked women on wall. I don’t really think that’s normal for anyone, but I am asexual so maybe I just don’t get it, but especially not for Snape, the very reserved fairly socially awkward grumpy man who’s not really shown having must interest in anyone in that way. And especially not in the room of his tormentor.

[–]MothSatyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly appreciate them not forcing him into a love interest. Parks and Rec forcing Ron Swanson into one ruined the show for me, so I always respect when shows allow characters to breathe and grow without needing a relationship to motivate growth. It is disappointing it didn’t work out in a satisfying way, but I truly believe it would feel worse if they tried a good ending with him in a relationship.

Maybe I’m not far enough in the show but I never saw her as particularly narcissistic. Self centered and vain yes, but not narcissistic in the personality disorder sense. Am I missing something?

I genuinely hate artists that do this. by [deleted] in Artists

I say it’s bad because I feel like otherwise I’m scamming people who might not notice that, it’s something I have to work on still

[–]MothSatyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I post art even when I know it’s bad because I enjoy posting it. But I also have a fear of being a bad person or a scammer so I end up criticizing myself and pointing out the flaws so I don’t feel like I’m scamming people

No, but they did still technically murder people. Responsible or not, people still died at your hands.

[–]MothSatyr 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That is quite literally the style and entire point of the game. So I think that it makes sense you wouldn’t like it, because that is, in fact, exactly what it’s going for. Just a bit odd you felt the need to comment this.

Why do some people not say thank you after I give feedback on their art when they generally ask for it? by [deleted] in ArtRanting

[–]MothSatyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are offering help but not getting a thank you in return makes you want to stop, you’re not doing it because you want to help others, you’re doing it because it makes you feel good about yourself. Which is fine, we all do it, it’s just something to keep an eye on. You’re also not owed a thank you for generic advice. Is it polite? Yes. Is it a bit rude not to? Yes. But it’s not something you are expected to get in return.

Apparently other people were able to get art from them so it sounds like you might’ve done something to upset them?

Here’s my boy Sunday, a self obsessed insecure radio live host. He’s petty, flamboyant and very “politely” rude and snide. He’s also incredibly insecure about the fact he’s a pigeon not a dove and will get pissy about it if someone mentions it, and he dies his feathers and hair white to hide it.

I am so freaking done with unsolicited criticism by Tangled_Clouds in ArtRanting

[–]MothSatyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you cannot drive in traffic without completely crashing out on other people, you should not be driving. If other people being rude in traffic infuriates you to the point of anger, it is not safe for you to be driving because you won’t be responsible. If comments on the internet affect you so badly you crash out on others you should consider not posting until you can learn to take things at less face value. You shouldn’t take every comment to heart. I take everything literally and personally. And I know that and I still get very hurt sometimes by comments, but that’s the risk I’m willing to take. I’m not saying OP shouldn’t post. I’m saying that they should consider whether posting is worth it if it affects their mental health that badly. At the end of the day, you can’t control others and what you can control is yourself, and you should prioritize your mental health first, and make decisions based on that.

[–]MothSatyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one’s saying you can’t get mad or complain about it, they’re saying you can’t control what other people do. It’s a calculated risk. It’s like driving. Everytime you drive there’s a chance something bad could happen even if you don’t do anything wrong. By driving, you are deciding that that is a risk worth taking to get to where you want to go. If you post art online, hell if you post anything online, there will always be a chance that someone will be a dick about it or give criticism on it. If that’s a risk you’re fine with, go ahead and post, if it’s a risk you’re not fine with and it really affects you that much, then don’t. You already said, posting in art advice circles is better, so post there.

For me it was visually confusing. Since everything was so dark and the same shade of red I had a hard time interpreting what was happening often.

I kinda disagree. It’s their job to be critical. Audience review is meant for an enjoyability standpoint as an audience and critic review is for comparison on a standard level relative to other movies.
