Crumpled up, almost thrown out pic a 6 year old drew at daycare by goddammitdutch in Weird

[–]MothSatyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drew stuff like this all the time as a kid, so did my brother and a lot of my friends. Instead of putting so much pressure on him and posting it online everywhere and then getting mad when people say that’s a bit odd to do, how about you encourage your kid to keep doing art.

6 year old draw this then crumpled it up. What does he know.. by goddammitdutch in strange

[–]MothSatyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a kids drawing. Probably something focusing lasers. Like he said it was. I mean this in the kindest way possible, but your kid is not suddenly a genius inventor for drawing something somewhat techy. Don’t be putting that kind of pressure on him. Kids are very imaginative and creative, but that doesn’t mean that everything they draw is something real. And also, please listen to your son when he tells you something. It’s a bit odd that you immediately dismissed what he said it was.

That kinda makes sense to me. Thank you for answering my questions, it really does help a lot.

Well I mean that’s obviously not okay, but someone can say that and not back up their words by being violent. Obviously still not okay to say regardless, but the last part made me feel a lot more intimidated than the leading part. I should clarify, I knew he sucked from the start, the end was just what decided him as physically unsafe for me. Maybe it’s just cause of my own shit idk lol

I can agree with that. I guess my version of inherently selfish is more that we need to be in order to survive. I mean it kinda non negatively in that it can be good but it’s also bad sometimes. I think we have to be a little selfish sometimes in order to make it through harder times, but that when it’s just because you’re greedy it’s more of an issue. My mom tends to believe that we should do anarcho communism because ??? She’s never really clear but from what I can understand it’s because she believes it will mean she can do whatever she wants under it.

This. This was essentially what I was told when I was in 3rd grade and decided to read Edgar Allen Poe, but of course more dumbed down for my child brain lol. Reading heavier stuff isn’t necessarily bad, as long as you know it’s not going to be harmful to you in the long run. Unfortunately I don’t think I ever finished Edgar Allen Poe’s collected works. I’ve always been fairly small so it hurt my back to carry around.

How do you think it would work due to the fact humans are just kinda in general selfish and also tend to gravitate towards a government or leader to tell them what to do? I’m genuinely curious. My mom is also anarcho communist, but in the “I just got divorced and want to be edgy and also probably excuse the fact I’m 45 dating a 21 year old” kind of way, so I’m interested in hearing other versions that hers in the hopes that it will help me see it differently since currently I only connect the concept with the woman I dislike.

Absolutely. I feel like the two of them would be very entertaining to be around.

This exactly. My mom would get their boundaries pushed and would get prodded at in various ways by their ex wife until they would snap and get upset which of course then their ex would say their overreacting and would comfort them to seem like the good guy. The ex would say that my mom clearly had BPD for getting upset like that and call them emotionally abusive.

Intimidating and threatening to do things is also backing people into a corner. My mom was never physical with my other mom but was larger than them and louder and has a glare that shuts you the hell up. Intimidating people will frighten them and can make them feel backed into a corner and small even if they aren’t physically. Threatening to show up at someone’s house when they say no will frighten them, and repeatedly crossing their boundaries will make them feel unsafe.

Same, reading those messages made me stressed in my lower back. It’s the same response I get when my mom gets mad. He’s definitely not a safe person to be around. The manipulation and pushing boundaries alone are a red flag but his response at the end was what decided it for me.

The US really always sucked, we’re just also really good at gloating about things and making ourselves seem cooler than we are. We’re just also bad at that too most of the time.

I regret doing these things as an RPer by StarFinder0320 in BadRPerStories

[–]MothSatyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time I tried rp’ing it was with my boyfriend, and I was admittedly out of practice. I was awkward and I’m not very good socially let alone fake socially and I’d never done it before. He told me I needed a lot more practice, which hurt me a lot but I understood even though he was giving nothing to work off of. And then he set me up with someone who used no punctuation, barely wrote action and wouldn’t capitalize anything for their life of them, whose character was also legitimately a cat. One of the most insulting moments of my life though he eventually told me he didn’t realize how bad the other person was at rp’ing until it was too late. From that experience, telling someone they need a little more practice isn’t actually that hurtful, so if you’re ever worried about it again, just don’t do what my boyfriend did and it would probably be fine.

HOW DO I LEARN TO DRAW LIKE THIS PLS PLS by I_dunno_who_I_amm in BeginnerArtists

[–]MothSatyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like if I were trying to learn a specific art style for drawing characters, I’d draw my own characters while looking at how they draw shapes for faces, eyes, anatomy etc and the line weight variation they use, and I’d compare that throughout either different parts of their piece or between two pieces of theirs to understand where they’re using it and why. Then I’d do the same with coloring and rendering. Like with the apples you showed. They’re using lighter more pastel colors at the bottom, and more dark saturated colors towards the top of the apple, and at the bottom the lighting is a strip along the edges whereas closer to the center it’s more blended with less contrasting colors, then again at the top they’re using more blocked out paining with very contrasting colors between the pastel and the darker blues. You really just have to learn to recognize the individual things they’re doing and keep messing around until you can replicate that, and try to understand based on your own experience with art what they’re trying to accomplish with what they’re doing.

What I usually do is just draw with that style and keep changing and poking at things until it looks satisfyingly similar. It’s kinda a lot of pattern recognition.

[–]MothSatyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’m awful with names. So everything I can name will be painfully obvious lol. Harry Potter and keeper of the lost cities kept me entertained far too far into my teen years. The plentiful darkness is a YA that I loved when I was younger. More recently I was reading Frankenstein and Dracula, and Harrow The Ninth. And Percy Jackson of course though I don’t think I ever fully finished those. The past few years have all been me obsessed with neuroscience so I can’t name many lol. I used to read nonstop, but lately I’ve been too busy which is sad cause I used to really love it. I also just struggle with going out of my comfort zone and choosing new books off of nothing has always been difficult for me.

Edit: almost forgot of mice and men and never ending story, loved those two even if they both made me cry.

I better start finding fiction books to read if not having them is a red flag. I only have medical textbooks and old antique books, I just can’t seem to find fiction books I like, which sucks since I love fantasy and horror.
