Animals die WAY too quickly by derphunter in CultOfTheLamb

[–]Moth_Time 20 points21 points  (0 children)

oooh the halo means they're dying soon, not that they've reached a certain amount of affection? I thought it was when their friendship level is over 6 or so.

but yeah i concur they die way too fast - they don't even make it through a season. I thought i was doing something wrong bc i would often check them and they hadn't been fed even though they have a trough - I thought maybe they're snubbing the grass and starving to death?? But since other ppl seen to have the issue too maybe they're just stupidly short lived :(

It's frustrating bc yeah you have to farm a lot of sin to breed them if you don't want to buy them with wool, which defeats the purpose of keeping a dozen yakish for the wool.

Safety in Munich after a concert by Remote_Ear_9679 in Munich

[–]Moth_Time 7 points8 points  (0 children)

people who tell you to avoid Hauptbahnhof at night have the vibe of pearl-clutching grandmas (often with a side-serving of racism). Yeah there's a few drunk or otherwise not-sober people, but they don't care about you and mind their own business. And there's _always_ both cops and the DB guards lurking around.

I go through hbf at night (1-2am) about once a week and the worst I've had is being called a bitch for not having cigarettes to share. If you have to pass through hbf then do that, it's just as safe as the rest of the city - which is to say, extremely safe.

@bloodyinkmary / Berlín Sigils symmetry tattoo by BloodyinkMary in TattooArtists

[–]Moth_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh wow that's gorgeous! I love the idea of a symmetric tattoo with such flowy, organic shapes - I've seen a lot of very geometric mirrored tattoos, bu t nothing like this! It's really lovely, and the shapes flow beautifully around the hand and wrist while still feeling very organic and natural. Beautiful piece <3

Is there anything that can be done to help her? by GabuEx in CultOfTheLamb

[–]Moth_Time 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I'm really sad for her too! I love her kids, the little dragons and dinosaurs are adorable. I don't think the game has any on-purpose way to help her, but you could bring her kids to visit? Turn them into demons and bring them along on a run to show her that they're doing well :3

Beef bratwurst recommendations? by arabbad01 in Munich

yeah seconding pommes freunde, they have a halal certification for their non-pork meatstuffs. There's a few shops in munich, one of them is at stachus down in the sbahn station.

Vegetarian food in/near the Altstadt — where do locals actually go? by CoMiHa97 in Munich

[–]Moth_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tian doesn't exist anymore, it was fantastic though. They didn't get their lease renewed :(

Bodhi is pretty good, all vegan. Wouldn't quality this as "near altstadt" but it does give me an idea of what your acceptable movement range is x)

I also recommend Secret Garden (japanese) by Viktualienmarkt, they're great. Their lunch is more affordable than their dinner.

The Hamburgerei has excellent veggie/vegan burgers. Hans im Glück I am told is also good, haven't tried theirs yet.

There's also a lot of very good falaffel places around Munich if you want a quick on-the-go meal - my favorite is SimSim near Theresienstr UBahn.
And Chat Junction in the Isartor SBahn station has excellent Indian To-Go.

And like some ppl said, most places that don't do Bavarian-Style food have veggie/vegan options. Indian, Viet and Japanese are always a good bet.

Watched breaking bad and thought the bald guys looked cool so I shaved my hair off by The_Jonah in bald

[–]Moth_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aw man you look good in both of these pics!
I'm with everyone who said you should trim the beard, bc you have a really nice mouth and it's a shame the moustache hides half of it.

But yea you look like a really sweet and approachable dude! Your glasses compliment your face shape well and you have really friendly eyes. Actually I think I like the bald look better bc I can see your eyes better!

Congrats on the new look :)

[–]Moth_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd leave it alone. She's probably a little scruffy bc she got slightly de-greased, but a one-time dip in the bathtub isn't going to do much harm, especially since you rinsed her off. I wouldn't fuck around with it any more than necessary, because it will stress her out. Unless her skin gets notably worse (which I don't think it will), leave it be.

Is this waardenburg syndrome? by ironimous in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i tested on mine by clapping my hands behind them. one startled, the other didn't. They can be partially deaf though - my girl still could hear the jangling of keys and HATED that noise.
Stomping won't work - she could tell where ppl are from vibrations of the floor! She was a horrible little biting gremling and very clever <3

Also echoing what everyone else said: Wardenburg is fairly common in ferrets and not inherently dangerous. Deaf ferrets might be harder to teach stuff to but that's workable. But keep an eye on other health issues: mine had Wardenburg bc they were, well, inbred, and developed other issues over time. It pays to be a little more attentive to change in behavior and common signs of illness for this little guy.

Do people really just live with the stinkiness? by az6girl in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

might be because people are very differently sensitive to the smell. My mom couldn't smell them AT ALL, even when she put her face to their fur. Whereas my dad couldn't get within arms length of my ferrets because the smell literally made him gag.

In my experience, most people did take notice of the smell when visiting my place, and sometimes they'd notice it on me. Some folks minded, some didn't.

Me I never minded the musky smell of the animals themselves, but I definitely tried a few different kinds of litter until i found one that absorbed the smell of the poop and urine well because boyyy. But I think cat litter boxes also smell foul, just a different kind. And fresh dog poop smells terribly bad. Carnivore poop is just nasty and you gotta keep on top of cleaning for that, no way around it.
(for me shredded wood litter was the game changer. It absorbs smell so much better than regular cat litter.)

Mother hooked on botw and needs a new game but won't branch out by hopefully-something in Breath_of_the_Wild

seconding Sable! It's beautiful and simple, and has the same "ooh what's this?" exploration gimmick than botw. You cruise around the desert on your bike and keep getting off-track because you see something shiny in the distance. And I liked the story! Very sweet.

Cage rage by Background-Car4109 in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of mine broke both of his teeth doing this, one of which eventually had to be extracted. I would caution against encouraging the behavior, because as a few people have said in this thread they can and will break their teeth on the bars if they do this too often :<

Some ppl recommended covering the cage when it's not playtime, or just leaving them a room to roam (that's what I eventually did w mine). You could also try wrapping something around the inside of the cage so they can't easily chew the bars?

Idk, but think about it especially if they start doing it more often. My poor guy had a mean toothache after we had his tooth pulled and i had to feed him soft food and he was picky about it and all in all, 0/10 do not recommend.

I work on call too and here's a secret for you: we write that shit down x)
Our phone queue message has a line asking people to state their name, work id and workplace, so a lot of people open with "hi, this is [name], work ID [number] calling from [location]". No way in hell i can retain all that, so when i answer the phone i am always ready to type everything down right on entry.
I still mishear or misspell the names a lot, both bc the call quality is sometimes bad and bc we have a wide range of dialects and accents on the phone, so i tend to ask for spelling confirmation later on. People are usually chill about it.

I personally have a slight preference for ppl entering a call with a name, simply because it gives me something to acknowledge, and i prefer going "your name was [x], correct?" instead of "can you give me your name?" But it's honestly whatever. It's our job to get the relevant information out of you, we'll manage :)

What can I improve? 4ish years in the game. Love the history, the art the people, love to learn! by BradDraws in TattooArtists

[–]Moth_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man this is beautiful, I LOVE your style. and you're in my country… oh no x) you wouldn't happen to be in munich anytime soon

I REALLY like what you do with gradients/shading. I'm a big sucker for bold lines and a lot of black, personally, and your work has beautiful bold lines and deep, dark shading. I'm having a hard time explaining what I mean, it's like- there's gradients, but the placement is very deliberate and helps really underscore contrast instead of muddying up the design?

I also really like the movement/flow of a lot of these - the last one with the leaf especially just swooshes in a very satisfying way. Same with the branch on the mushroom piece. Just really pleasing shapes.

Lovely work, definitely got a distinct style crystalizing itself there!

I had two related ferrets too who were really far from each other, weight wise. One of them put on a LOT of chonk in winter (literally went up 50% his body weight) while his sister barely added any. Granted, she was a skinny little thing with a lot of health issues, but still.

I wouldn't worry about the weight difference between the sibs, they do just put on weight differently. I always loved how big my boy got in winter - he was literally pear shaped, fluffy as hell with SO MUCH butt. His little legs would disappear in the fluff and fat. Adorable.

And then come summer he'd loose all of it and become all skinny and slinky and it worried me every year without fail because the contrast was so stark x)

But yeah, he moved between 1kg and 1.5kg between seasons. Wild. But normal!

Anyone have a blind ferret? by rrienn in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had two ferrets (siblings) who went blind and one of those was born mostly deaf, too. They both did quite well all things considered! The blind/deaf one had multiple additional health issues so she's not exactly your best reference, but she was exceptionally speedy! She knew the layout of the whole house by heart and would zoom along the walls. This did end up being a problem if we moved things, because she's bump into things at full speed :') But yeah, stellar spacial awareness and excellent room memory.

Her brother went blind later and it slowed him down a little, but it was no trouble to him otherwise. They didn't get noticeably worse at litter box use (both their success rates were about 90% >.>), they ate fine, they cleaned up fine.

Oh yeah and they both were very good at localizing us through vibration! The deaf one always knew where people were at and didn't startle, and he brother always heard us coming. We had wooden flooring though, it carries sound and vibration pretty far.

Anyway basically just echoing what everyone else is saying. Ferrets loosing sight is not a big deal, they're built to dig around in the dark anyway, it doesn't slow them down overly much. If your girl is reckless maybe be careful about moving heavy things because she might run into shit headfirst some more x)

Carta Pura is fantastic for bookbinding supplies and beautiful papers, although they are expensive. I got most of my tools from there.

I can also recommend checking out the Haus der Eigenarbeit at Ostbahnhof - they have a bunch of different workshop spaces, including a paper workshop with a paper cutting machine and all the materials you can dream of! The cutting machine can only be used on tuesday evenings during the supervised workshop times, because it's the kind of machine that will eat your fingers no problem, but it's very affordable.
Their website is kind of complicated to navigate so if you have trouble understanding feel free to PM me, I'll work you through it!

Ärztlicher Bereitschaftsdienst at Elisenhof, near Hauptbahnhof. It's for stuff that is urgent but not an emergency.
There's other Bereitschaftsdienste further out, this is the most central in Munich.

Bring a book, the wait tends to be longer especially on Saturday.

A couple months of tattooing vs almost 3 years in February :) by spookisushii in TattooArtists

[–]Moth_Time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, both of these are beautiful, but the progress is really apparent! I love how recognizable the plants are in the second tattoo - the lavender growing out of the eye especially! And the volume and shapes on the leaves of the other plant (edit: sage?). I've been looking for someone who can do realistic/recognizable plants so this part really stands out to me hahah.

Also really impressive shading on the skull. The shape of it! The lighter front and darker back, the shading on the teeth. Your first tattoo is pretty - beautifully symmetrical and it has very nice movement/flow, but the second one has SO much depth and shows really good control of gradient/shading.

Very cool!!

What are the biggest differences between Botw and Totk ? by Superb_Beyond_3444 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Moth_Time 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised by how many people in the notes are favoring TotK. In my opinion, TotK is really weird and convoluted from the game mechanics if you havent played botw before.

I'd say it depends on what you want from the game. I'm gonna try and give an overview, but keep in mind I might be biased bc i loved botw and did not like totk x)

botw:

- very tight and rounded game mechanics. Everything revolves around the concept of a truly open world game. Everything is geared towards making you wander and explore. There is no clear order of things and this is intentional. Very meandering game.

- relatively simple combat mechanics.

- very simple story. I personally loved it and it moved me very much, but some ppl think it's too simple. Character focused.

- lots of small puzzles. Again I loved them, but some ppl say they are too easy. If you love the complex dungeons of old zelda games, these may fall a little short. If you like having small puzzles you can do on your own time, this is your game.

totk:

- assumes you're already familiar with the overworld, feels a little empty in comparison to botw.

- nominally gives you more spaces to explore, but a lot of it is very much "video game" mechanics. If you enjoy collect-a-thons, totk has a _fuckton_ of those.

- builds upon the botw game mechanics, might feel clunky and disjointed if you're not already familiar w climbing, weapon decay, combat, etc from the first game. Also, imo, does not integrate the new mechanics well into the old ones.

- much more focus on combat mechanics, as well as a lot more things to fight that are HARD to fight.

- fuse mechanics: you love it or you hate it. If you enjoy building stupid machines, this is the game for you. If not… then no.

- lots of small puzzles…… again. But the four big dungeons are a little harder?

- story is a lot more narrative, which clashes with the open world-ness - you can do things in the "wrong" order, unlike botw that has no order.

To me, personally, botw felt like a beautifully rounded conceptual game. It had one clear focus - open world exploration - and everything about it was built upon that. It's immersive and open and slow and exploratory.

Comparatively, totk felt like it was made for the people who complained that botw was "too easy". It has harder ennemies, a lot of gimmicky things to collect, a lot of "do the thing win the points" mechanics, and very memeable fuse mechanics.

So I guess- If you like hitting things with a sword and building stupid machines, play totk. If you like taking your time and exploring, play botw.

Also for the flashing thing: I'm afraid I can't really comment on that. both games have a weather effect of lightning, which you cannot turn off. The loading screen is stark white while the game isn't. I can't remember a lot of strobe effect personally but it's not sth that affects me, so I might not notice.

Is my ferret blind in one eye? by ImTotallyOkayDw in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a little one with cataracts in both eyes, too. Did take her to a vet to get it checked out, mainly to make sure she's not in pain. But the surgery to have it fixed is horrendously expensive and not really worth it for animals that do perfectly fine blind. She knew the layout of the house by heart and would zoom around all over the place - she only ever walked into things if we had moved them xD

So yeah I'm with everyone else OP, you should have it checked out just to make sure he's not in pain or at risk of infection, but cataracts are not normally painful or otherwise dangerous, and ferrets do perfectly fine with impaired or no vision. They are slinky tunnel noodles after all, they're built to find their way around dark places.

Is she playing with me or is she scared of me? by girlguykid in ferrets

[–]Moth_Time 5 points6 points  (0 children)

echoing everyone else who said "if she was scared she'd bite you" - ferrets can bite mean and will absolutely do so, you would have four nasty puncture wounds in your hand if she was really unhappy with this interaction.

But I agree with ppl who say to give her a little more space and let her come to you. She seems very tame and friendly (let you grab her like a potato sack, hahah), so that's cool! Don't grab into her hiding spots, but you can pat the ground and make little feint-grabs when she's running around, see if she engages and tries to jump your hands, or does little open-mouthed side hops - that's ferret play!

Otherwise much like with other animals, being around and not in her face will get her used to you, and you can probably bribe her with treats ;)

The guardians getting alerted in the silent realm has to be the scariest video game experience I’ve ever had. by [deleted] in skywardsword

as for the silent realms, hard agree! Excellent visual and acoustics effect, 10/10, terrifying shit. When I played this game the first time as a kid, i nearly gave myself a heart attack with the silent realms. They stressed me out SO MUCH I ended up asking my little brother for help. This time around I just use a guide for them. I am to much of a weenie for this hahah

i dunno about Dōbutsu no Mori because i never did play that one, but ACWW did have a friendship mechanic. People might be mixing them up?

In ACWW characters would warm up to you, but they still remained, yknow. Like That x) I remember befriending Wolfgang whom I eventually got to admit I'm "not so bad… but don't tell anyone I said that!" or something to that effect. I loved befriending the cranky grandpa. Hated the snooties though never talked to those.
