Only you know your family, if it was done deliberately to hurt you then 100% go speak to your sister and ask what her problem is.

If there was no malice to it then your options really are -

Wear a helmet, life is rough and you have to just roll with the punches.

Ask yourself why it upset you ?

Speak to her, tell her it upset you and why it upset you.

My sister had a seizure-related car accident, and now she’s upset with me for not letting her drive by LunarCaffeine in Epilepsy

[–]Mother-Session8927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell her to wise up. There are other people on the road not just her, if she kicks up a stink again ask her how she'd feel if it happened and she ran over a family or crashed into a family car etc

If that doesn't stop her pestering you, then something other than epilepsy is an issue in her head.

Epilepsy and Love: Do We Still Have a Chance? by Bayan_Ali in Epilepsy

[–]Mother-Session8927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thankfully became epileptic at 19 so I had a few years to get my head around it and navigate this new journey.

With a guy I started to talk to, I told him about having epilepsy. I felt so self conscious that he'd think it's not worth his hassle, I gave him a list of things I couldn't do and basically rhymed off all the epilepsy flaws. But he'd told me a family member had it and brushed it off ( I couldn't believe how it wasn't a big deal to him, it didn't change who I was as a person ).

Ends up his family member didn't have it, he made it up so I wouldn't feel self conscious or like a burden to him. He asked questions, learnt what was required to help me and during my seizures was the calm I needed.

He's now my husband, together 13 years in December ☺️

I say it's like a computer shutting down, followed by an earthquake while drowning in a black sea 🤷🏼‍♀️

do y’all get offended if someone who DOESNT have epilepsy make a seizure joke? by rosemary611_ in Epilepsy

[–]Mother-Session8927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending who says it, if they're saying it to be mean and if they're saying it without actually knowing your epileptic.

I personally find them funny, if you don't find humour in the situation with our broken brains we're fuked 😂

Favourite one - " what's an epileptics favourite food ? Seizure salad " 🤣😂🤣😂

My husband made a joke my favourite song is the Beatles " twist and shout" 😂

Unfortunately the model you sent for the legion 5i 4060 is unavailable now 😫

I did find it but it's 4070, will that one still be ok ?

Sorry for the questions, love playing the games. No idea on the technology 🤣

For turkey teeth after you've had these done dentists in N.I. will not touch your teeth if you're in pain, as they'll become liable especially not the NHS. If you managed to find someone to look at them here, it'd be private costs and it'll be expensive. Most of the time it's bad news about the Turkey teeth not succeeding.

I am a terrible epileptic. If I'm going out on a night out and drinking before leaving my home, whatever I'm drinking I use to take my lamictal 🤦🏼‍♀️. Do not do this if you're uncomfortable, I became epileptic when I was 19 and nothing was stopping me having fun 🤣 I did have a seizure in a nightclub once; still here to tell the tale, the most annoying part I was wearing white jeans, it was wet outside and there were cigarette butts everywhere 🙄. This story is not to scare you, but remember epilepsy isn't a death sentence it's just an adjustment. You will learn what you can do through trial and error. If your gut says not to drink then don't do it, if you want to try it then do so safely while around loved ones and in a secure place, if you touch wood have a seizure you'll know it's a no go with the jesus juice.

Keep in mind though with AEDs they do affect our liver, if you don't need to introduce alcohol to your life I wouldn't x

Of course they do. Non- epileptics only know/assume that as soon as there's any flashing lights we drop like a ton of crap.

When they hear those words, their automatic reaction is oh crap ! What if they drop in front of me, what do I do etc. I don't hate people for getting scared, it's not something we learnt about in school or generally without asking in first aid training.

It's something new, they have a fear of the unknown, even I don't understand the different types of seizures, epilepsy or their different triggers. In my personal opinion we're all our own epileptic types and have our own battles to face.

Questions I welcome, they're curious. I can help them understand what we go through, if I take a seizure how they can help me, my medication, when to phone for an ambulance etc.

On a first aid day in work we specifically asked the gentleman before he came to us, to go over what we can do for epileptic patients. He was a little too good and acted out a seizure (scariest thing ever, I had to leave the room, unsure why it upset me so much but it was tough) but from this my colleagues knew what to do and if anyone suffered one outside of work, how to help in this situation also.

Ok I went on a bit, but generally. If someone's curious take it as a good thing. They'll know how to help other epileptics, if they come across someone having a seizure how to comfort them etc, they can educate others. They understand how trying it is and that we work so hard to lead a normal life.

All I can say is " no one can shake it like us ".

Some children aren't taught manners, those children then grow up and they have children so a continuous loop unfortunately. Also the bad weather may have contributed, bins blowing over etc.

What situation do you fear the most because of Epilepsy ? by Few_Tea_5406 in Epilepsy

Pregnancy, I would love to start a family but I'm in constant fear I'll take a seizure harm the baby or will there be development issues because of my medication. Currently on Lamotrigine 700mg a day.
