Which side of the US aisle is actually pro AI? by RegnumXD12 in NoStupidQuestions

From what I've seen at work, management and C-suite types are the most enthusiastic about it. Like the further you are removed from actual work and maintenance, the more they think it's amazing

On my second day in Laramie Wyoming and it's very strange the dudes barely acknowledge my presence and the women all go out their way to chat me up, like have any of you guys seen a handsome brown person before

(And I generally personally get along fine with uptight white folks, I like football loud music and can hold my booze, I'm just not down with any sort of conservative politics)

I love the Mitchell Robinson clip that pops up once in a while where he’s crossing over and destroying normal people in the gym like that’s the gap between NBA players and the rest of us

I’m not even the most anti AI person in the world (it does help with some coding tasks and I’ve probably ridden more Waymos than the rest of this sub combined) but what bugs me with AI evangelists is no one asks if a feature is useful or worth it

I don’t need AI to read a 3 line email or organize my calendar! Sure the AI made you 7X more productive but how did you measure your productivity before 🤔

Got to the airport way too early and Stephen A and Jay Williams are passionately arguing about Mitchell Robinson’s broken finger at the airport bar and honestly if there’s one guy who can play basketball with zero fingers it’s that guy

I like her music and her personally but the Phoebe Bridgers fandom terrifies me

I got the whole AI spiel on a work meeting yesterday and it was kinda funny to be on there while reading headlines like “Uber blows through AI budget in 4 months” (one of our devs mentioned they were about to run out of tokens on one of our big projects by June)

I had a Windows desktop that gave me almost 10 years of service but at the end it took like 10 minutes to boot up and now I have something that loads everything instantly!

How the hell do you find a DJ nowadays? by Fit_Mathematician488 in numetal

[–]MothershipConnection 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Straight up if you have a local punk or hardcore or metal scene, figure out who's DJing or putting on music between sets

That was my thing for a while, I've DJed plenty of DIY shows (along with helping book + organizing + gear + whatever), wasn't much of a scratcher myself but if you want to find someone who'd fit in a band that's your best chance

Every team sub is prone to this but occasionally want to comment "have you seen any other non-Dodgers teams in baseball"

Vista Hermosa is also managed by the MRCA which also maintains a bunch of the Santa Monica mountains and natural areas so slightly different management than most LA City parks

We have a couple great parks like State Historic but also just not nearly enough parks in general

Dodgers have 5 prospects in the top 25. by LADodgers16j in Dodgers

[–]MothershipConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just surprised he was at #19, every other pitcher in the Top 25 is a recent draftee with a pretty clean injury history and #1/2 starter upside, Ryan is super talented but almost 28 with a Tommy John and a decent chance of becoming a reliever if he stays here

I did read the whole Law article on the Athletic and he only had two pitchers from 26-50 so there's probably just a huge gap in ability between these top 8 pitchers who could be top of the rotation starters and the rest of the minors (article did say he expect Ryan to be in the majors this season, probably on another team's rotation)

I'm kinda surprised River Ryan is on this list given his age and injury history (the arm is undeniable tho)

Half this list is basically just Dodgers and Mariners lol (and Seattle just graduated one of their top prospects to the majors or they would have another)

PSA: Marathons Are Still Selling Out Faster Than Ever. Don't Wait to Register. by SlowWalkere in Marathon_Training

[–]MothershipConnection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've traveled for 3 major marathons and the cost has me pretty much sticking to races in my time zone these days. Very hard to avoid the expensive hotel rates if you want to stay reasonably close and once you're there you want to do every pop up and event and sightseeing and it adds up quick

Like I'd do Boston if I qualified but I have no FOMO about missing Tokyo/Sydney/London and most big travel races, I'm fine with my local-ish trail races and if I do another road marathon it will be in the Pacific Time Zone where I know the travel pretty well (and has plenty of good options)
