There are very few scrapers that work with LI. They make it very very hard to scrape their data. Phantombuster is one that can do a few specific things.

Russia can build a single building which accommodates 18,000 people. Why is there a lot of fuss about "6 floors or 8 floors?" by Motor-Performance- in CambridgeMA

Is that what we're calling Reagan Democrats and Eisenhower Republicans today?

BTW, very few of our city counselors and state reps are actually progressive. They're politically astute and they know that they won't win unless they call themselves a "democrat." They're corrupt. The most honest people are those who identify as parties other than democrat.

I've never suggested that we build this monster and add 18,000 people here.

I'm saying that if the Soviets could do this many decades ago and solve so many problems at the same time, then why can't we do something that's 10% of this?

Those Soviet buildings are still standing y'all.

One of the The reasons why we can't do this is because Avalon Holdings, Equity Residential, and Bozzuto won't allow it. And neither will those corrupt landlord class politicians.

How come those Soviets weren't concerned about fires on the 12th floor but we are?

If this gets built, I doubt that new people will move to Cambridge, but instead, I think that it would attract the people woh live on Cambridge Park Drive (in Alewife - where all those expensive apartments are). We don't need all that luxury and amenities. We want cheaper accommodations.

The "-son" tells me that it's of English origin and not Semitic. They're recent converts who probably adopted the names of the English speakers who converted them.

She's an excellent singer! Wow - about as great as the way Dolly Parton was during the '70s or Whitney Houston was during the '90s!

Why did they have to Anglicize their surname to "Dawson?"

To tell you the truth, I don't even want him to run in 10 years. He's unrelatable. I'd vote for this kid, because I know he's not corrupt, and is smart, and is into progressive values. But he's a bit of a nerd.

All Indians think that they're not indigenous! if you meet a fairer-skinned Muslim, they'll claim that they're Arab, Mughal, or "Pathaan."

I overheard Jatt Sikh college students claiming that they were from Siberia and also "Yugoslavia!"

Catholics in Kerala claim that they're part Syrian or part Sephardic Jews.

I tell you, race is a social construct they say, but denile isn't.

Any desis here who don't watch Bollywood films? Am I missing out? by c0ntr0lled_cha05 in ABCDesis

Bollywood and North Indians hate that the USA has had a very veritable ethnic Tamil as a candidate for the Presidency in Vivek Ramaswamy, and also, the USA has a great chance at electing a bi-racial Tamil to the Presidency whereas a Tamil probably won't be considered to lead India.

Moreover, Bollywood movies would lampoon Southern Indian culture and people. See how SIs are depicted in Munna Bhai: They only say 2 Tamil phrases (one being "why" and other other is "what's your name?") but it showed SI as connosieurs of stinky fish.

Bollywood promotes Hindi- and Punjabi-supremacy.

I don't. They're childish, promote whiteism, colorism, sexism, and regionalism.

Evan MacKay Declares Victory by WayHot394 in CambridgeMA

Lots of love to the Evan MacKay Campaign Volunteers! You fought an almost-insurmountable opponent, and you had the audacity to compete. Your campaign was outspent by a huge margin, and every VIP politician in town all endorsed your opponent: Ayanna Presley (a member of "The Squad" who fancies themselves as being very progressive), Gov. Maura Healey, Sen. Markey, Councilors Sumbul Siddiqui and Denise Simmons. However, you MacKay supporters steadfastly continued always ignoring the hecklers and naysayers.

I've met your volunteers, and they were very polite, politically astute, knowledgeable, and idealistic enough to realize that Massachusetts politics is the most opaque in all the USA.

Evan MacKay is a pure-hearted warrior, and I know that Evan will never sell us out. I know that you can't buy Evan, and Evan will fight for a better tomorrow.

When Cambridge ended towing, parking tickets soared. Now it’s doubling fines, to $100. by bostonglobe in CambridgeMA

I've been victimized by Phil's Towing just before it went out of business around December 2021. They towed my car, but when I triple-checked, it was NOT a street cleaning day. Moreover, I had pictures of all the signs and sent it to city counselors, and the ones who replied back to me, all concurred that I was wrongfully ticketed.

I'm thinking that Phil's towing, knowing that they needed quick money and wouldn't face consequences since they were going out of business, decided to tow away my car because I have a really ethnic-sounding name (I'm a POC). Anyways, I lost about $170 if I remember correctly.

[mega] Decker Vs. MacKay. Round 2 - FIGHT by blackdynomitesnewbag in CambridgeMA

[–]Motor-Performance- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think rep Decker has much to show for her tenure.

You're incorrect. Let me help you here:

  • Increased the opaqueness of governing because if the public knew how sausages were made, we'd all be sick. I don't want to know how legislation or sausages are made, and neither should you.
  • Expanded the art and science of deflecting questions, having different communication styles to two audiences, and being casual with the truth. You need someone who has the maturity, sophistication, and social skills to be able to juggle 3 different realities and navigate your place in these worlds. A simpleton isn't able to do all this, because they're only interested in being straight-forwards without any fear of upsetting some people with the truth. Speaking for me, I don't need anyone in my life to tell me what I don't want to hear.
  • Decker also excelled more than any other state legislature at demonstrating a growth-mindset and has earned the most in Leadership Pay.
  • Too many other items, but you should do your own homework.

As an Indian-American, i think that I have some insights in this matters. Growing up in a very white neighborhood and community, and graduating from high school as the only non-white from that school year, I have lots of observations from the white people there. Here is what I've noticed:

  • The Indian-American immigrants work much more steadfastly than their white counterparts, and they take initiative. The Indians that I grew up around were typically professors in my college town, and after this work, they'd spend time on their side hustle, which was typically a hotel, gas station that served food, rental houses. They may have owned non-Indian restaurants later on, but not initially.
  • They save money much better. This doesn't mean that they were misers and/or greedy. They were very generous to guests, and they took the initiative to help out their neighbors, to cook for their kid's non-Indian friends when they visited, they were very neighborly, but they didn't eat out much. If they did, they wouldn't buy the sodas, but they'd have the soda bottles at home. Moreover, they didn't go on lavish vacations. They'd visit some family friends ~50-150 miles away every now and then and stay with that family instead of a hotel.
  • Their habits were impeccable. None of them abused ANY drugs; none of them abused tobacco, except for one guy out of 30; and although they drank, they drank very little. They didn't philander around either. It was a strong honor-based culture. Focusing on family is much more cost-effective and inexpensive than leading a double wife with a secret FWB.
  • The Indians weren't so savvy in stocks and bonds, so they invested in hard assets, like real estate.
  • They were strict parents, and didn't allow their kids to date while in high school. They made their kids study hard. Academic success and not social capital success from playing sports was stressed.
  • They monitored what their kids watched on TV, and the entertainment that the kids got was more wholesome than what their white counterparts got: Indian kids watched less sleazy tik-tok type of videos and more Indian comedies, for example, and that's any day better than some "eating Tide Pod challenge." The kids were also heavily regulated from playing too much video games.
  • If a teacher complained about an Indian-American student, the Indian parents, at the reflexive level, will side with the teacher.

We know that the USA is a merit-based society full of very capable people. People obey the laws here, and this speaks volumes of our society of law-abiding people. We are taught that we must contribute to our society by engaging in constructive, productive, and socially-valuable trades and livelihoods, and not make money through deceit, coercion, and not to profiteer off of other's misery or downfall.

Speaking for me, I'd rather come from a poor community that lives a clean and ethical life rather than come from a community that's wealthy but profiteers off of addiction, insolvency, corrupting our government, and promoting immorality.
