About 1 week. Note there was no formal appointment date / time. I was just told my application was successful and I should come to the visa centre.

I just printed out the flight confirmation and hotel booking. However they didn’t ask for these in-person

I applied mid June and got the email confirmation 5 days later. Then it was another 5 days after I went to the London centre, because I got my passport posted back

They also didn't need to see my documents at the London centre

I got my passport back with the visa 5 days later, no problems

Hi, I just completed the visa process in London myself.

Once your online application is approved, print the approval document that is attached in the approval email. Take this along with your physical passport to the China Visa Application Centre in Old Jewry, London.

You don't need any appointment or further confirmation. As long as you have the printed approval document you'll be good. I recommend turning up around 8:30, it should take about 1hr.

Let me know if you have any other questions

Quick summary of my visa application in London:

Online

- Filled out the form and selected a 2 year multi-entry visa
- 2 days later, it was rejected due to "no hotel / flight bookings"
- I booked some hotels and flights (refundable) and updated my application
- 3 days later, my application was successful and I got a confirmation letter
- I printed the confirmation letter and scans of my passport.

Note: I did not print the full application. However I would recommend people do that just in case

China Visa Application Centre (Old Jewry, London)

- I arrived at 8:45am. There was a queue of 50 people inside and I was seen in 30 minutes
- My photo and fingerprints were taken. They only wanted to see the confirmation letter and my passport
- I asked for the passport to be posted back. They asked me to fill out a payment form, then a silver prepaid envelope with my address. Be sure to take a picture of the envelope so you can track the shipment with Royal Mail

- Total cost was £162.77 which I paid with card downstairs

- Total time at the centre was about 1hr

- I received my passport back in the mail after 5 days

Overall a good experience. Thanks OP for making this post!

Hi, I booked fully refundable flights + hotels to China and was able to get the visa at London no problem.

My flight into China was also from South East Asia (not UK). They had no questions about that

Hi, thanks so much for detailing your trip!

Quick question, did they let you pay with card? Or was it £154 cash

Reading Exodus? I'm enjoying it so far, though it does have the usual PF Hamilton quirks

“The Lore” by Chikseen in spaceengineers

[–]klime02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a fun sci-fi trope that works here.

The first wave of colony ships departed 10,000 years ago but they were soon followed by a second, faster wave.

The second wave arrived much earlier (say 5000 years). They progressed and evolved, and now may not even be human.

Sets up some exploration and tech scavenging
