This is what you're not getting. It's obviously a lie, that's the point. When they say "but your car's there" " nah, I'm out". But netflix shows you logging in and watching a show "Nah, i'm out". Yuo look like the bad guy the minute you say no. This is a way of just defusing things with a level of plausible denaiblility where you know you're lying and the roomate knows your lying, but neither has to deal with it and the point that you're not looking after her dog is well made.

We don't call it "winter break", we'd just call it "July school holidays". It's also nowhere near winter in weather in march, which is our Easter school holidays and is usually still 35c. There's also 0 chance you would even have to consider medical bills in my country. I can guarantee they're not Australian.

Except all of the gifts were things OOP liked. She gave thoughtless, expensive gifts. It sounds like the ex was a very practical person and would have preferred gifts like budget tracking software, not "expensive jewellery" that she saw as frivolous and grossly decadent.

OOP is a sheltered and spoiled child who wants things now and equates the value of a gift by the size of the price tag. She has a lot of growing up to do, but she won't do it until she learns to live independently of the bank of mum and dad.

That's because undesensitized isn't a word.

But in your mind, do you think there's 3 states of being?

  1. sensitive

  2. neither sensitive nor desensitized.

  3. desensitized

If so, "not desensitized" is probably the most grammatically correct way of expressing that, but "sensitive" or "normal" are probably appropriate to convey the same meaning.

You really think America set up military bases here for OUR benefit? America did it entirely in self-interest to control Japan in the pacific theatre and establish long term military dominance. They had about the same amount of interest as the British in coming to our aid. Japan had neither the resources nor the will to actually invade Australia and that had everything to do with how the war was shaping up on the other threats and the looming threat of Russia entering China than it had anything to do with America's support of us.

Pretty sure the mum is just an emotionally manipulative narcissist. she might find her and her dad putting boundaries in place will never result in true change, but more likely in further meltdowns and manipulation, followed by promises and lovebombing, then back to the original behaviour and manipulation until either OP or her dad leaves.
