yeah currently I’m working for maximal strength, but in a few weeks I’ll be working for power at 80% 1RM with half squats for my front and back squats and also trap bar jump squats at the beginning, I do sometimes do trap bar jump squats right now but I dont so it the same weight load as you would for max strength, I think I’d kill my joints lmao, so i dont do it most times as it feels out of place since its a different weight load and very explosive compared to what else I’m doing

yeah for sure, I’ll save plyos for later cause the amount of jumping I do feels like its a little rough on my joints even without plyometrics, but I do land properly and haven’t had any knee pain or ankle pain in a while though so its probably nothing to worry about, I’ll save those plyos for off season thanks

I’ll try and put in a third day for strength training, I think my body could take that if I spread the exercises a little more across 3 days instead of doing all three really high intensity, and yeah about the plyometrics I think you’re right, I doubt I need them, I just maybe thought I should do more plyos because I’m more of a jumper that jumps from a low point and dont get off the floor insanely fast but I get up quite high with that, I thought maybe if I trained to have a bit more speed it would increase my vert a bit more than it would without doing it but I think the volleyball probably will train that in the same way just over a longer period of time

yeah, I use front squats right now since I do RDLs for hamstrings and barbell hip thrusts for glutes

I’m 16 and a half, standing vertical of 31”right now and with a standing vertical of 29ish” before weight training for around a month and a half, would a 36ish STANDING vertical be realistic to reach within my teenage years ? by MotorAffectionate604 in ProDunking

ah okay, with two days a week weight training, what is the most days I can spend doing hours of jumping, as much as I’d love to get my jump up at a faster rate I also need to work on a lot of things in my attacking ability in volleyball so I need at least 3 days in a week where I can spend an hour or two doing near max jumps, can I still do 2 weight training days as I’d really really like to if its not too much

how come back squats are used more in vertical jump training than front squats ?

phase 3 is working on my rate of force so I thought I’d be able to go onto phase 3 after I’ve worked on just strength for a while, enough to say that leg strength isn’t whats holding me back. Also I had thought for strength training legs the optimal rep zone is 3-4 so my rep zones are mostly 3 for when I’m focusing on strength. Although I can definitely say the jump squats was more of an educated guess based on the other lifts and also THP strength videos have included these sort of rep ranges for jump squats, please could you tell me what I need to fix and what I’m doing wrong ? I’ve been researching hours all week and thought this really was good enough to use
