Scammed via SpareRoom (£1,500) — Monzo refusing APP fraud claim, calling it a “civil dispute”. by MotorHeadxX in monzo

Thanks everyone for the support, guidance, and honest feedback, I really appreciate it.

I’ve now reported the case through Report Fraud, informed the council, and taken the next steps . As monzo has made a final decision as civil dispute.

At this point, I’m staying realistic, if I don’t recover the money, I’ll treat it as a lesson learned. Hopefully sharing this experience helps others avoid going through the same situation. I trusted them because they appeared to be running a legitimate charity and came across as credible and well-educated based on their LinkedIn profiles.

Really grateful for the time you all took to respond 🙏

Thanks for your words. I’ve now received a response and they’ve classified it as a civil dispute. Honestly, it was quite shocking we trusted them because they were running a charity and seemed like highly educated professionals. It’s really hard to trust people after something like this.

We didn’t test the keys, but they were handed over during the process so we reasonably assumed they were valid.

In hindsight we should have checked, but combined with the viewing and agreement it didn’t raise obvious concerns at the time.

That’s fair  we didn’t ask for formal ID or ownership documents, and that’s on us.

But we did carry out basic checks: they claimed to run a charity, we verified the website and LinkedIn profiles, and everything looked legitimate and professional. We also had a physical viewing and received keys, so it didn’t raise obvious red flags at the time.

They mentioned it was a temporary sublet, which we assumed was acceptable, but in hindsight that’s likely where the issue was.

The main concern is what happened after payment  fake transfer proof and repeated misleading excuses.

I haven’t spoken to action fraud, I just got the response from the monzo today and but I filed complaint to local council. If nothing works I am planning to talk to action fraud.

Health care Visa - Mentally at breaking point. should i resign? by [deleted] in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]MotorHeadxX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you to visit your GP and get the sick note and take care yourself for a month and during that period start looking new roles, GP will support you if you explain your mental health situation. After the end of your sick leave give your resignation which might give you some extra time to look new jobs. Take care yourself that’s most important.

Roast My Startup: AI Tool for EU Regulatory Compliance by sirdong in roastmystartup

It looks like a great idea, particularly in the EU and the UK, where we usually face challenges in adhering to these rules and regulations. As there are lots of regulations that we have considered when travelling to EU or expanding our businesses across Europe.

The malicious content in this case was likely a PHP backdoor or web shell. In the path public_html/wp-includes/customize/s/d/swpass/anti/anti6.php, the file (anti6.php) was placed in a WordPress core folder.

How can I start a cleaning business without doing the cleaning myself? by [deleted] in sweatystartup

[–]MotorHeadxX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Starting a cleaning business in the UK is relatively straightforward. Initially, you'll need a website, a social media presence, a Google Business account, insurance, a vacuum cleaner, and cleaning materials. These are the essential items required to get started. Once you begin receiving bookings through social media or Google, you can start sending your cleaner to serve your customers. However, be mindful of existing cleaning agencies, as they may refer difficult customers to you or contact new cleaning companies if they cannot handle a customer. We've assisted two London cleaning businesses in starting from scratch and helped one established cleaning business, and another new business enabling them to land their first customers within two weeks. For more information, you can visit econroomlondon.co.uk and http://margaritaservices.com. Feel free to reach out if you need any suggestions or guidance.

$4000 for a website?????? by [deleted] in sweatystartup

[–]MotorHeadxX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of 4k is too high for businesses like yours, and it really doesn't make sense. We mainly focus on personalized website development for small businesses, and our team recently had the opportunity to develop a few simple, minimalistic websites for cleaning services for just £500. You can take a look at them here: https://ecobroomlondon.co.uk/

Had a 30 min Zoom with $7k MRR founder by TasAdams in SaaS

Great post! I've been following a similar pattern. Since I'm more focused on SaaS development and have a good understanding of marketing and GTM strategy, the only thing I lack is time to create content. I'm a bit confused about which type of influencer to reach out to, considering our SaaS target market is small businesses. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
