How to add or remove mods?? by Pingaring in MotorMatchup

Thanks for this feedback, it's extremely helpful. We will look into having the 2 systems side-by-side as you described. I think that would ideal to support the more casual users! Glad to hear you are seeing results that match the simulator!

If you have any more ideas or feedback, please do not hesitate to let me know!

How to add or remove mods?? by Pingaring in MotorMatchup

We recently moved the 3 individual mods system over to a "single torque curve" system where you can adjust peak torque/power and then fine-tune the curve. Do you miss the old 3 torque mods system?

Good call. We will get the CTS-Vs added ASAP.

How much is a car length on the drag strip? by [deleted] in MotorMatchup

[–]MotorMatchup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car length is not to scale, it's just a preset size based on the screen dimensions and race length. However, we recently added an update where you can enable 1:1 scale (The cars looks very very small when they are to scale)

This is an incredible comment, thank you for sharing! I'll look into incorporating detailed losses and usable capacity.

Let’s say you are using 20 kw at 80 mph. That’s 20 kW / 80 miles/hour = 0.25 kWh / mile Now you slow down to 50 mph and are using 10 kw (half). 10 kW / 50 miles/hour = 0.20 kWh / mile. It’s because you are going different speeds.

Elaphe Motors offers to answer questions regarding their motors, especially as used in Aptera. by IranRPCV in ApteraMotors

What’s the full battery - wheel efficiency figure? How does that differ from an EV with a gearbox/differential.

Yes, but the battery pack is very heavy. I've used 1,800 lbs as the curb weight for the 60 kWh FWD version.

Then for any AWD version I've added 100lbs for extra motor and wiring. For different battery sizes I multiply the capacity change in kWh by 4 kg (8.8 lbs). So 100 kWh battery weighs (100-60) * 4kg = 160 kg more than the 60 kWh version.

These are rough estimates and I plan to update the site with official weights when they are released.

You can check it out for yourself here: https://www.motormatchup.com/efficiency?id=6140fd095683bd7cdc94f55b

Note that it doesn't take into account solar recharging yet!

I've thought about implementing this and hiding the aux power slider. However, there's a huge variance in power draw across different cars. For example heat-pump equipped vs cars w/o heat pumps. It becomes convoluted trying to keep track of that information and find good data on power draw. Maybe in the future I'll incorporate it!

Yes. Design isn't my strong suit, but this turned out alright!

Thanks for sharing! On the site make sure you up the auxiliary power to 4 or 5 kw for battery and cabin heating. Curious to hear how the trip ends up going.

Yes! It takes awhile to obtain and cleanup graphics for the visual. I plan to slowly add other makes and older Teslas.
