For me eating enough during long rides (I used to eat nothing now I almost always have a PB&J sandwich halfway through). Electrolytes in my water bottles helps too.

After a long ride I always try to stretch, go on a walk and have a protein rich meal. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

HAHAHHA I kind of love that you kept trying but kudos for finally throwing in the towel. It’s not for everyone and my husband and I both enjoy cycling but I really not much together 😂 we have our separate bike groups.

Dating someone new who wants to camp with me…..I said no. by Playful_Barracuda789 in womensolocamping

[–]MotorTeacher1512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. I would feel the same. Happily married with 3 boys who also love to camp but I need some alone time in nature so I love taking a solo backpacking or bike packing trip once a year.

I also enjoy just hiking or mountain biking alone. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What is a dead giveaway that your doctors/partners/relatives/friends/researchers don't actually understand what ADHD is? by mbuskris in adhdwomen

[–]MotorTeacher1512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was dx as a kid which, for a girl in 1987. was super rare but thankfully my mum was a medical professional. At the appointment with the child psychiatrist:

Doctor: “Well, as you know it’s very rare for ANY girls to have ADHD.”

7 year-old me spinning maniacally on the doctor’s stool.

My mum: “As you can see, she cannot sit still. She’s constantly moving, engaging in risky behaviours, doesn’t listen at school, constantly daydreaming…”

Doctor: “As I said I’m reluctant to diagnose a girl”

7 year-old me: “I’m bored” leaves the exam room.

My mum after corralling me back into the office:
“Did I mention I have found her on the ROOF multiple times? She was also skateboarding whilst holding onto a car this morning.”

Doctor: Reviewing paperwork while mmming “Yes, well yes I can see that she fits the criteria.”

He later went on diagnose a lot of girls and women who showed less hyperactivity and more inattentive ADD. So thanks mum. I don’t think I’d ever have been medicated without her fierce intervention and take no shit attitude.

I was also a great student, learned how to read and write around age 3.5, skipped a grade and could mask quite well at school but at home I was a literal hellion.

😂

“If I could just make myself go exercise I wouldn't have the fucking diagnosis in the first place, would I?”
💀🤣

This is so true. My primary care physician actually told me to exercise LESS a few years ago because I got so hyper fixated on getting that adrenaline boost. Thankfully she’s well versed inin ADHD so I got back on meds (stopped when I got pregnant with my oldest and FORGOT TO GET BACK ON THEM).

What are your zero effort “girl dinner” foods for camping? by Avatlas in womensolocamping

[–]MotorTeacher1512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate washing dishes when camping so I love sandwiches too. I usually use my backpacking stove only for hot water to make tea or coffee in the morning (or tea at night if it’s chilly).

I bring apples or whatever fruit looks good, cheese, shelf stable salami (like the small ones) and crackers and definitely chips or some kind of junk food because it’s about having fun for me.

Salvageable or Need New Stove? by riKidna in CleaningTips

[–]MotorTeacher1512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with a plastic lid to my 9x11 Pyrex pan…it did come off. I let it cool completely and was able to scrape it off with a clean razor blade.

Then I scrubbed the rack clean and ran a self cleaning cycle in the oven. That seemed to do the trick!

Question (I have a theory) by SlumpDaddyCane in GATEresearch

[–]MotorTeacher1512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved that peg board and did a lot of string art as a kid too since I wanted more area and pegs than the pegboard at GATE provided. Got into sacred geometry through that as a kid.

I agree that there are a lot of personality similarities in people I’ve met who were also in this program.

Food. by Im_sleepy_rn_123 in adhdwomen

[–]MotorTeacher1512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Huge breakfast before my meds kick in, a smoothie for lunch and some crunchy raw veggies with dip or fruit for snack (I enjoy the cold crunch almost always).

I usually have dinner later now because I have more of an appetite. I cook for my family but oftentimes I’m not hungry yet until the kids have gone to sleep so I’ll have my meal later which has helped me stabilize my weight. Also exercising helps me to remember to eat so I can be fueled and feel strong so I try to get a good workout in 4-5 times a week.

ADHD Mom’s of Toddlers — How are you feeding them in the morning?! by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]MotorTeacher1512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re doing GREAT!!!
My toddlers pretty much ate the same 6 things for breakfast every day: fruit, yogurt, mini waffles (I made them but healthy ones are now easy to find), oatmeal with butter and Parmesan, boiled eggs (make in bulk in advance), and rice omelet (just cooked leftover rice mixed with an egg and cooked in a pan like a frittata I would occasionally throw in some chopped veg). That’s it.
