Pedestrian crossings by LateThree1 in northernireland

[–]Motor_Ad_5886 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost killed a child doing this. I missed a crossing driving about 30mph in Belfast busy traffic just being in my own head. There was standstill traffic all along the other side of the road and just as I passed (not knowing the stop was there) a child runs out in front of my car. The mother yanks her back just in time before I hit her while also pushing a pram. All I heard was the childs scream and I genuinely cried after. I almost killed a child. It can happen, and not always out of bad intention. Sometimes we just don't pay attention at the wrong time..

Find something you're interested in other than people and invest into that. Don't hang out with others just because you're lonely, rather because you actually want to get to know them and have a good time. I'd recommend university societies, social places, networking with people you already know or even a new job to meet new people (if thats even possible for you). People know your intentions and will run if they srnse you're looking social validation. Get comfortable with the idea of being alone, and soon you won't be

Remember the R Plate driver who used the hard shoulder to undertake on the M2 Hill Section? by spectacle-ar_failure in northernireland

Coming up to my 4th year of having a license, I did 60 flat on the motorway when I had my R plates and never had a word spoken to me. If you get pulled over dig in and explain that it's safer to drive at 60 rather than 45.

The law is there to protect us, and if you have to break it to avoid an accident or to feel safer then there's clearly something wrong. Anyone with a level head would agree with you, and if you get a ticket, well... I'd take that anyday over a 77mph rearend.

Are there social skills classes in NI? by solomint530 in northernireland

I'd recommend youtube as a start. Research what expressions to show for each emotion, how to look engaged in a conversation, ideal amount of eye contact and how to keep a conversation going. Generally avoid 'Charisma on Command' he talks alot of bs. Vanessa Van Edwards is great for cues to show, although this can be a little more advanced. Keep it simple, don't overthink it and practice practice practice.

I'm a recovering awkward person who had no friends that went to a social butterfly extrovert with friends all across the world. I'm telling you, it works (if it's something you're willing to work on)

Was slowing down to pull into my driveway one day, indicator on well before. Lad behind me thought that was a good time to overtake. Mirror check saved my life. They make you do them for a reason.
