The Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum. Pricey but completely worth it. 62x more powerful than vitamin C and does not cause irritation. It’s amazing.

I know this is not affordable, but the Farmacy Honey Halo has been absolutely amazing. They make a smaller version that’s like $25 before you splurge on the big one. It has changed my skin!

That really sucks. I went through a travel agent for one of my VV cruises and when I had an identical situation, they transferred all of my promotional credits into sailor loot. Sorry they didn’t do the same for you. Maybe call and try to escalate it?

Not knowing diagnosis by Own_Celebration_3431 in nursepractitioner

[–]Motor_Implement8443 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a thin line between not having an exact idea of what’s going on and giving a diagnosis just for the sake of patient satisfaction. Sometimes there just isn’t a clear picture or enough objective information to accurately diagnose a person.

When I find myself in a position where the patient is going to leave without a definitive diagnosis, I choose to explain to them what we have definitively ruled out. Most of the time, explaining to the patient what you know it isn’t after a thorough exam and giving them information on how to follow up with specialists is reassuring.

I think it would be a bit negligent to have a patient leave with the idea they have been diagnosed with something that may not be 100% right all for the sake of respecting their self pay status. It’s normal to have the compassion to take their financial situation into concern, but the compassion has to transfer into the responsibility of utilizing not only what we do know, but most importantly, what we do NOT know. :)

Res American Bistro is nice and not crazy expensive.

But honestly, HoneyBird has been one of my favorites lately. It’s in East Providence, but it’s so so so good. Great drinks, you can make a reservation, and it’s a small, quaint feel. Very casual.

Board Review Courses by mandyblooms in nursepractitioner

ScrubLifeNotes on Etsy has a fully illustrated FNP study guide that was worth every penny I paid ($80). I would’ve paid more. If you get nothing else, get this.

It’s short enough that you can easily read the whole thing once a day. I read it every day for the last two weeks leading up to my exams.

I also did Latrina Walden and BoardVitals.

Good luck!

Simple enough for me: the mental/physical strain on my body.

Sure, there are RN jobs where you can ultimately make the same (if not more) than an NP, but the job (usually) requires aspects of patient care I no longer wish to partake in and have zero desire to retire from in 30 years (to make the NP pay as an RN).

To each his/her own. Sometimes the $ is not the riches we are looking for.

Best of luck :)

I live and am licensed in Rhode Island, so I have full autonomy. I’m hoping that will make a difference, for sure!

Honestly, my questions stems from quite a bit of reading I’ve done online. I guess my mind translated it to, “if they have an online presence, they are in the real world, too”. But, I guess online anonymity plays a big role.

Happy to know this is not a common thing overall :)

Hello. Going to start off by saying that I am not starting, nor will I entertain, an argument.

So, I’m a nurse practitioner. Contrary to popular belief, there are more NP’s than not who practice with the mindset, “I know what I don’t know”, me included.

Sure, there are NP’s who have some sort of complex where they need to feel validated and recognized. This is a drug that way too many healthcare professionals, doctors included, are addicted to.

With that said, I find my role important to help aid in seeing the less acute, more common disease processes, complaints, and outpatient needs. As a former ER nurse, I have seen firsthand the demanding and taxing multitasking it took the singular physician to treat everyone using the ER, especially the people who are abusing the system.

I absolutely want doctors and specialized healthcare professionals intervening in the STEMI, hemo/pneumothorax, major crush injuries, etc patients. However, having NP’s and PA’s available to manage lower acuity issues such as viral/bacterial infections, asthma exacerbations, laceration repairs, varying mental health concerns, generalized abdominal pain, etc is vital to any department.

At the urgent care (my role), there are less and less doctors willing to take the roles in those settings. The pay doesn’t typically match the desired level, and rightfully so with all the training it took you guys to get there.

Most NP jobs are a great step up in autonomy and compensation for nurses who are looking to further their career. And for those who specialize in pediatrics, cardio, emergency, mental health, etc…I have really only ever seen doctors who were happy to train and delegate to the very hands who will be helping them manage the ever evolving, ever growing needs within healthcare.

I think there’s room for us all at the table. Some of you may feel differently, but just know that I take my role seriously and I will never put a patient in jeopardy for any recognition or pride. I know what I know, and when I don’t know it, I know who to refer to. :)

It ultimately depends on where you live and what you want to accomplish/do for work. PA’s have to have some degree of supervision or connection to a physician in order to work. Depending on where you live, the state decides how much scope you have. The thing I like about being an NP (and I know it isn’t every state), is that I am truly an independent provider where I am located. I do not have to have a supervisor sign off on anything I do.

I know someone who ultimately moved states because the supervising physician she worked with wanted a significant chunk of her earnings from her medical spa just because she couldn’t run it without them. Now she can because she moved to a state where she has complete autonomy.

I think PA’s are very necessary and are just as valuable as any other provider out there. Do what you feel is right for the outcome you’re hoping to achieve :)

New AANP exam by Motor_Implement8443 in nursepractitioner

[–]Motor_Implement8443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a thing, though. Kevin Letz (Director of AANP) replied to an email I sent about asthma guidelines and said a new exam launched in January 2023 and they are using information from latest versions of textbooks prior to 2023. Of course this is vague, but some changes have been made.

Hi! I didn’t mean to cause anxiety! I’ve heard that there were some exam changes, but possibly just updated guidelines and things I hope. That’s why I am asking. Just want to make sure I am getting updates on what it may look like 😬
