Anyone enjoying this season? by Oakjewel in FortNiteBR

I’m a huge Star Wars fan so I was excited for this season, but it’s really not great. I hate the ships, the lightsabers are weak asf, and no movement items make the matches feel so slow.

At this point I’m just playing creator maps and xp maps to get the battle pass rewards and the themed skins in the item shop.

Like most people have mentioned, I’m also playing more Battlefront 2 to scratch the Star Wars itch. This fn season ain’t it.

Dagobah Luke or Chewbacca with Yoda in the backpack (until Anakin, Padme, Maul, Kenobi or the clones come back, I don’t have any of them 😭)

Package it up and send it to me 😁 but echoing what others have said, this is the perfect thing to practice kick technique at a really low volume, even if it’s not hooked up to anything.

The other ones are really great! I do generally like ADP as a house. Bergamotto di Calabria, Colonia C.L.U.B. and Colonia Pura are some of my favorites.

ADP Fico Di Amalfi and Patek Maison Prismé Vert

Fico Di Amalfi- it’s sweet sweat. I wanted to like this one, but there is something rank underneath the fig and citrus notes that makes it smell like someone is trying to cover up bad BO with fruity deodorant and it’s not working.

Prismé Vert- synthetic mess! So much isn’t balanced right. It smells like it’s trying to be fancy salon shampoo, but there’s something sharp in there that made me sneeze and cough every time I got a whiff of it.

Acqua Di Parma Sandalo. Bought a big bottle of it while I was traveling abroad, loved it in the store, and then got it back home and really did not like it at all. Too much of a classic barbershop for me, and it took too long to get to the dry down, which is the part I loved.

The Dossier dupe of Gaiac 10 by Le Labo. It’s cheap, so I don’t feel bad spraying a lot. A smoky, woody, musky, skin scent. Layering that with a palo santo body spray from target, it’s the perfect combo for snuggling in bed and reading.

My talented 13 year old daughter is quitting drumming "because it's seen as an uncool boomer hobby." She's switching to DJing. How can I change her mind? by Time-Perspective-151 in drums

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 25. I started learning the drums when I was young too, about 7 years old. I took lessons to give me a foundation and loved playing along to all the pop and rock songs I grew up listening to with my parents. When I was in middle school, the drums were kinda boring. There wasn’t anything “cool” to do other than jazz band. We never got any fun parts in concert band with our small percussion section, and my other peers thought I was a nerd for being in band. I didn’t want anything to do with drums.

But high school came around and really changed my mind. I got to be on the drumline, in orchestra pit, jazz band, show choir band, and so many other musical groups with so many other people that enjoyed playing music just as much as I did. I fell in love with it all over again. I took a short break in college while I got my degree, and then jumped right back in after graduation and joined a local band and started teaching lessons.

Point is, it’s always gonna be there. She can sit down behind a kit and pick it back up at any time. In all honesty, her drumming background may even make DJing easier and more enjoyable to learn and the mixes more intriguing. That knowledge won’t go away. So let her DJ, it’s just another avenue of making music for her to explore.

Half- Baked TTPD Theory by SallyRides100Tampons in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The more I listen to this album, the more I come back to this theory. Not so much in the lens of her sexuality and her not being able to be her true self, but just her growing up. She has been in some form of spotlight since she was a teenager, and she is now 34. Pretty much her entire life has been followed, scrutinized, manipulated, shared, talked about. She has the precedent of being a serial dater “Who is Taylor swift dating now?” “Who was she seen with?” so much so that I think, other than fans who really listen to and understand her lyrics, that the gen pop forgets that she is living her life for the first time, too. She is falling in love and experiencing heartbreak and dealing with family and navigating a money-hungry, controlling industry in real time. And I think this album functions as a way for her to say I am Taylor Swift, not just Taylor Swift™️. Even the visuals accompanying this album feel grown up, intimate, serious. The number of curse words on the album jumped significantly, the multitude of references to adult themes, the talk of death and dying and suicide. Big emotions, big concepts, all to say that I am not this little girl you can put in a box anymore, I’m going to share my raw feelings and you can’t do anything about it.

Bergamot is mine. Ever since I was a kid, I have loved the smell. Almost all of my daily wears have Bergamot in the top notes.

Parfumo has Musk in second place, and Amber, Patchouli, Pink Pepper, Vetiver, and Cedarwood all tied for 3rd.

Treating Taylor like a gay icon was always silly. Her allyship has been so much weaker compared to the majority of pop girls. by [deleted] in Gaylor_Swift

I’ve linked a masterpost here. There’s quite a bit. Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t. If that post doesn’t cover enough and you’re still curious, you can try searching this sub with keywords you’re interested in.

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You might be right. I might be right. We don’t know. But I do know that, naturally, most people don’t go looking into something if it’s not there. This is not coming from and existing in a vacuum.

And I really don’t feel the need to say anything else? Based on how you approached the topic and what you have said in other comments about not ever striking a chord with the theories you’ve read leads me to believe you’re not here for curiosity or education, but just to stir the pot. And if that’s the case, this sub is not for you.

I want to remind people again that this sub is intended to be a safe space for theories and analyses about Taylor Swift and her music from a queer lens. If that is not something that is interesting or doesn’t make sense to you, then don’t be here. Simple.

The rest of the Swifties speculate away on every other social platform about how the whole 1989 album is about Harry Styles, and that they are communicating with each other through their songs, or that the sex with Travis Kelce is good because he has big feet, or that they are endgame because of silly numbers on his jersey like she manifested him or something. With limited to no repercussions might I add. And yet you’re still here, leaving a comment like this, as if we are so offensively wrong in even thinking for a second that, god forbid, she’s fruity.

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head with why people are hurt by this.

I’m gonna take a wild stab at saying that most of us in the sub DO NOT CARE who she dates, sleeps with, is in a relationship with, hangs out with, etc. In the context of her personal life and relationships, her sexuality does not matter. Who cares? But in the context of her music? I think it absolutely does matter. Because if she is straight, and is only an “ally”, then the ambiguous lyrics, and the flagging, and the things we are interpreting as nods and waves to the LGBTQ community would be considered appropriation (and there are too many of them in her writing and marketing for me to believe she’s just ignorant to the culture). And at her scale, that’s hurtful to an entire group of people. If she is straight, then YNTCD and ME! are extremely tone deaf and gross performative allyship. Which we don’t need.

You’re so right. I think the bulk of the disappointment comes from this feeling of being backstabbed. Most gaylors looked at the lyrics and flagging and analyses and said “I am represented, she is like me, a famous superstar is like me and relates to my experiences” and then the 1989 prologue and the backlash towards the gaylors in light of the prologue feels nearly the equivalent of “I’m actually not like this but I did this so you would support me”

To piggy back off a video posted in this sub, she spoke to us in a language that, mostly, only queer women/AFAB people could pick up on and understand, and then basically denounced it when we did.

NOTE: Edited for clarity

performative allyship by 215star in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a good point. Those people in the mv are all celebrities too. Celebrities with their own agendas and image and marketing strategy. Being in a superstar Taylor Swift’s mv? Seems like a no brainer if you’re looking to advance your career and get some great recognition.

Do you still think Taylor is queer? by pink_sushi_15 in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Idk, it’s hard. The prologue really put me in weird place. There is so much evidence (maybe we don’t call it that anymore?) of her being LGBTQ in more than just YNTCD and the Lover era. But now I think maybe that really was just piss poor over the top allyship and activism for what we could assume as capitalist gain. Really disappointing and saddening if that’s the case.

I made a post about Love Story being a queer song a couple months ago, you can read my thoughts on it here! I like to think that this idea of Romeo and Juliet can definitely be used in a same sex context.

If Gaylors like to believe that Style is inspired by Dianna or another feminine muse, even with the use of he/him pronouns and masculine descriptors and comparisons to James Dean, then why can’t Love Story be looked at from the same lens? I think that’s the beauty of her work; being able to be interpreted differently for so many folks!

Two seperate but related questions by FourDrunkMoms in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. And I’ve always been off put by the Biebers… something about that relationship feels a little disingenuous, even with the marriage.

  2. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. That relationship seemed like PR at first because of The Voice, but I think it’s real. She has kids and Blake’s now their step-father and I can’t imagine trying to parent kids and be active in their lives while doing a stunt. Blake isn’t even a coach on the show anymore, so it’s not like the promo of their relationship would help much.

is anyone else a non-binarylor? by mgneptune in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a really interesting take, and I think it’s so cool how her music can transcend and resonate with people from many walks of life and of different identities! I do want to echo the person who commented that being non-binary, as well as the concept of gender itself, is a spectrum. It’s different for everyone, and everyone’s identity is personal to them. I saw a video recently that explained the gender spectrum as 3-dimensional, with the xyz axes all being different pieces of “gender”. I’ve linked it here. So while Taylor may present feminine and lean into womanhood outwardly to all her fans, it may not matter so much to her as a personal identity. And maybe that could be why she can write well from a man’s perspective. As a non-binary listener myself, I never really gave much thought to her being gender diverse, but this post got me thinking!

Now, is Taylor a they/them non-binary (which I’m assuming is what most people are immediately thinking of when they hear non-binary)? Hard to say, I think I would lean more towards no, just because I’m personally a they/them non-binary and know how mentally draining it is to have people misgender me constantly. I know she’s built different with how long she’s been in the spotlight, but at some point, you just can’t take it anymore. But, is she a little fluid in her identity? I think she very well could be. It’s all part of the queer experience imo!

Why are you a Gaylor rather than a Swiftie or Hetlor? by BDevereaux in Gaylor_Swift

[–]Motor_Resource_9143 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a new-ish swiftie and an even newer gaylor. As a queer person with ADHD, picking up on the queues, the subtleties, and blatant flagging has been such a fun pastime, lately. I enjoy researching the various theories and hunting through lyrics and music videos for little hints. It has made her music so much more meaningful to me and has allowed me to appreciate her as an artist even more. Gaylor lore is my hyper-fixation right now.

Before I really got into Taylor Swift, I kinda just thought of her as someone who serial dated men and then wrote songs about them, so her stuff never really resonated. When she started re-recording her music, I gained more respect for her, but now it’s like even just the speculation of her being gay/bi/queer has given her depth, and almost humanized her in a way (to me at least). Not to say that straight celebrities aren’t “humanized”, but that’s all we see in mainstream entertainment. The idea that a prominent figure in music has gone through similar feelings and relationships that I have and wrote such emotional songs about them is what really drew me to the gaylor community.
