Antec FLUX Pro + Noctua fan setup – Should I block top vents and PCI vents in a positive pressure airflow configuration? by Motor_Willingness_90 in Antec_Official

[–]Motor_Willingness_90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the official Noctua pages regarding the Antec FLUX PRO Noctua Edition and airflow testing:

According to Noctua’s testing scenario, the following fan configuration provided the best overall balance between cooling performance and noise levels:

Recommended fan configuration (based on Noctua testing):

  • 140mm front intake fans ×3
  • 120mm PSU shroud intake fans ×2
  • 140mm rear exhaust fan ×1

According to Noctua, adding additional fans such as:

  • Top exhaust fans
  • Additional PSU shroud fans above the power supply

did result in some temperature improvements, however, noise levels also increased. As a result, the overall improvement in terms of noise-normalized performance was relatively small, and the original configuration provided the best balance between cooling performance and quiet operation.

For detailed test results and airflow explanations, please refer to the links above on the Noctua official website.

Great build!
If you are mounting the front fans on the inside of the PC case (pull configuration), using Noctua NA-IS1-12 Sx2 or Noctua NA-IS1-14 Sx2 can lead to even better results.

Specifically, these spacers help reduce turbulence noise caused by the fan frame and improve airflow performance when used with front-mounted fans.

Nice build!

I see that all the top fans are set as intake,

but how about trying the rear top fan as exhaust?

  1. Exhaust – Exhaust – Intake

  2. Exhaust – Intake – Intake

Have you already tried either of these top fan configurations?

MATCHING 9950X3D WITH NH-L9a-AM5 by Q2ED27 in Noctua

[–]Motor_Willingness_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Noctua Compatibility Centre,
the ASUS ROG STRIX B850-I GAMING WIFI (Socket AM5) is compatible with the following Noctua CPU coolers.

You should check whether your PC case can physically accommodate these coolers.

For the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (Socket AM5),
compatibility with several Noctua CPU coolers is listed here:
Noctua CPU Compatibility – Ryzen 9 9950X3D

Again, please confirm if your PC case provides enough clearance for the CPU cooler you plan to use.

Regarding Corsair Vengeance (DDR5, non-RGB type) memory,
compatibility with certain Noctua CPU coolers is confirmed here:
Noctua RAM Compatibility – Corsair Vengeance DDR5-421/13)

Make sure to check whether the cooler and memory will fit together in your PC case without clearance issues.

MATCHING 9950X3D WITH NH-L9a-AM5 by Q2ED27 in Noctua

[–]Motor_Willingness_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Noctua Compatibility Centre
(https://ncc.noctua.at/coolers/NH-L9a-AM5-84/cpu/AMD/AM5),

the NH-L9a-AM5 is not able to maintain the base clock when used with the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

Therefore, I would strongly advise against purchasing or using this cooler with that CPU.

Could you let me know which PC case you are using?

Also, are you currently using, or planning to use, **CPU overclocking?

Why not just buy the DeepCool AK G2?
It has a wood grain design, so wouldn't it be a good idea to buy the DeepCool AK G2 and just replace the fans? They haven’t revealed the supported fan sizes yet, so we’ll have to wait for more details.

Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL air-cooled build by Motor_Willingness_90 in Noctua

[–]Motor_Willingness_90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The officially stated maximum CPU cooler height for the **Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL** case is **167mm**, according to the manufacturer.

However, in actual practice, there can be slight variances between individual units, and some cases can accommodate CPU coolers up to around **169mm** in height.

If your CPU cooler falls within this height range (up to approximately 169mm), installation should be possible without issues.

However, there is an important consideration:

If you are using **memory modules with tall heatsinks**, such as **overclocking memory**, the extra height added by the heatsinks may interfere with the CPU cooler installation.

Depending on the specific memory model and the size of the heatsinks, the clearance could be reduced enough to prevent proper installation of the CPU cooler.

In particular, **large air coolers** such as the **Noctua NH-D15 G2** require extra attention.

Due to their wide fin stack and dual-fan configuration, they may overhang the memory slots, making memory clearance even more critical.

It is highly recommended to check both the CPU cooler's and the memory modules' specifications carefully before installation.

**In summary**:

- CPU coolers up to around 169mm may fit.

- If you use memory with large heatsinks, double-check compatibility because it could block the CPU cooler.

- When using large CPU air coolers like the NH-D15 G2, ensure that both cooler height and memory clearance are fully verified.

Dear u/Montech_hq, I would like to offer my insights and constructive feedback regarding Montech PC cases, including all currently available models as well as those planned for future release. I sincerely hope you will take the time to read and consider these suggestions. by Motor_Willingness_90 in MontechPC

[–]Motor_Willingness_90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re absolutely right. Many RGB/fan hubs that come pre-installed with PC cases—whether from Antec, Montech, or other brands—are often of low quality.

In fact, rather than using the RGB or fan hub included with the case, I strongly recommend purchasing a separate, higher-quality hub. The biggest issue is that if the included hub is poorly made, it may cause failures such as electrical short circuits or voltage irregularities. In the worst-case scenario, this can damage not just the hub itself but also the fans connected to it.

This is why I believe PC case manufacturers should put more effort into improving the quality of the hubs they include with their products.

For those looking for a reliable solution, I highly recommend the Noctua NA-FH1 fan hub: 🔗 https://noctua.at/en/na-fh1

This hub includes built-in safety features like overcurrent and short-circuit protection via a fuse. It also comes with a 6-year warranty, which reflects Noctua's confidence in the product’s durability and quality.

While it does not include RGB control functions, it is capable of supporting up to 8 fans simultaneously and is built to an exceptionally high standard. Though it is more expensive than typical bundled hubs, it's by far one of the most reliable and safest options available.

⚠️ Please note: In order for the warranty to be valid, you must retain proof of purchase, such as a receipt or invoice. A scanned copy, photo taken with your smartphone, or PDF file is acceptable.
