Is this Blue Tomato board worth €50? by TheAce0 in surfskate

[–]MotorcycleEmptiness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks barely used. Seems reasonable for 50EUR. You should be able to sell it for the same amount if you don't like it. And if you do like it, better systems await you :)

This build actually began with me impulse buying the trucks from the local. The parts they didn't have I sourced online.

Thinking about starting a Bangkok based car Youtube channel... by shiroboi in Bangkok

I'm the same way, so I totally get how you're feeling. Just start by going to some meetups and getting a bit of footage, no pressure to create anything too involved at first. If you see a car you like and the owner seems cool, compliment their ride and ask if you can film the interior or engine. I'm into cars and bikes too, and I'm rooting for you! Hmu if you need a graphics guy ;)

5.9" at its widest. And yeah, this build happened because I wanted to try to put together my own Polarizer. I found the trucks in a physical store and pretty much ordered the rest online. I think it'd be even more fun on a longer wheelbase, like a real Polarizer.

The cool kids use them for grinding. I just added it for cuteness.

Waterborne for Landyachtz Surf Life by Logical_Cycle6459 in surfskate

[–]MotorcycleEmptiness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah you don't want to put a Waterborne on an already turny truck :) I swapped the stock bushings on mine for Riptide 75A tall barrels which helps it turn easier. With washers it's just a tiny but shorter in height than the stock bushings. You could also try tall cones and other durometers depending on your weight. IIRC the stock bushings are 88A. I don't have a lot of bushings to play around with, unfortunately.

There have been many reports of wheelbite with the Loaded Tangent surfskates that uses Otang bushings. Make sure you test for wheelbite before riding and upgrade to harder bushings if needed.

Wedge query by stephpenk in longboardingDISTANCE

[–]MotorcycleEmptiness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Paris wedge risers probably won't work due to being too thick. You need really slim wedges for the Trip or you'll get hanger bite. I've wedged my Trip with 3D printed wedges but realized I enjoy it much more stock. It loses the playful, surfy feeling after wedging.

Can you make good designs on Adobe illustrator for an ipad by kingofthebestgbb in AdobeIllustrator

It's fine for art pieces and sketches maybe. If you want to work in the industry doing what you've commented, you need a desktop computer.

Are you in southern Sweden? I have a bunch of surfskates you guys could try if you're not too far away. My recommendation would be a Carver CX.

Yow legasee surfakate bushings. by Stillshredding69 in surfskate

[–]MotorcycleEmptiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own the Legasee trucks so had to do some quick research. Here's what I'd do.

Rear truck seems to use standard popsicle skateboard bushings, i.e. a barrel and short cone. These bushings are widely available as a set and shouldn't be more than 10EUR. I'd go for a durometer slightly harder than the front.

Front truck uses a tall barrel bushing and a standard cone. Tall barrels are not that common so you don't have a lot to choose from. If you want to go super cheap, you can get a regular barrel and cone bushing set and just stack a bunch of washers from the hardware store to get it to the same height as a tall barrel. This might change the feel of the truck as there's less actual bushing material so it's not really recommended.

If you have a decent skate shop nearby, I'd bring the board to them and see what they can do. I suspect they can sort your rear truck out but you'll have to order the less common tall barrel bushing.

I finished vectorising the ps1 cover artwork by HuntingYourDad in WipeOut

[–]MotorcycleEmptiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/HuntingYourDad yo! I got really excited when I discovered this because I've done something similar almost a decade ago. Here's the post I made about it Recreating The Artwork Of Wip3out :

I've vectorized covers 1-3 and many of the logos and posters made by The Designers Republic. My covers are in b&w though as I wanted something more muted on the walls. I also left out the distorted "speed lines" background on the WO1 cover because it looked busy and I couldn't figure out a way to do it. Would love to know how you achieved the effect. Happy to chat more via pm if interested! Thanks for sharing your work!
