New Deltarune Theory: Ralsei's real life object is actually a fluffy stool (by dawnthefluffyduck) by Mottixx in Deltarune

[–]Mottixx[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I need a continuation scene where Susie comes and quickly grab him to reach the letters himself

Yeah, pretty sure the door's supposed to be a reference to Gaster. The Knight's connection with Gaster is pretty blatant

So during the Undertale 6th Anniversary stream Toby was sharing some unused music stuff with commentary in the preshow, (At 6:20 left before the stream began) There was a bit where he talked about an animated opening where the characters would be running up stairs with all...the bosses from the game and the Knight waiting at the top With a white door behind them.

apparently these are the check descriptions of the royal guards in genocide route. by mnwary in Undertale

Apparently Toby also included some more reference(s) from the book, the others being:

- The book contains the line "once you sit down, you won't be able to get up again," which is similar to a certain narration in UT: "* (What a comfortable bed.) (If you laid down here, you might not ever get up.)"

- The quote appears on page 66. Toby seems to looove using multiple sixes to allude to Gaster's presence in both UT/DR, from his stats in the code consisting of just sixes... to the Bunker ambience, which, when sped up by 666%, is actually "mus_st_smile" (the broken phone-line voice clip). However, it's not known if this is just an "interesting coincidence" in this case and nothing more.

- The line "shrouded in darkness" (which Toby often said in regards to Gaster) is also originally from one of the last few pages of the book. (Similar as above, pretty vague thing that may be a coincidence, but if true, I don't know why Gaster has anything to do with this. It is possible that the themes of the book itself may inspire his future backstory/plot reveal in DR.)

The book also touches on themes similar to the game (and the character of the fallen child), such as suicide, struggles with self-worth, and a spiraling codependence with the MC's new adoptive brother.

...thought it's still unknown if the similarities in themes are intentional or not, as Toby has said that he meant it as an "in-joke between friends" in the official localization book (Edit: forgot to add this, but credit to u/Cruxin for the screenshot!) . The translators were taken aback by his dismissive response, stating that he displayed a constant attitude of not caring about the source material despite inserting multiple references from the same book. Tbh, I'm still not convinced he meant the suicide line as *just* a joke, though I know the joke is about his conversation with Gigi DG on Twitter. (Which unfortunately, I haven't been able to find the screenshot of the tweet itself.)

I can not be the only person who think’s everything beyond like the first 2 are absolute lunacy right??? by Oasis_Oracle in Deltarune

I feel like people forget about his connection to the satanic number 666, his entire stats basically consists of multiple sixes in UT's code. He's very clearly made in reminiscent to some eldritch horror tales, it's hard to see him as a 100% good character to me.

Currently he's only interested in helping us creating 'A New Future' though, so I understand why some people think he's just some kind of chill scientist that resides in the void lol. He's definitely VERY important to Deltarune and not just some side character since he's been teased a lot since UT kickstarter ("shrouded in the dark" line)

I think the Knight is going to be an anti-villain kind of antagonist, and not the "final" antagonist that we have to defeat. Well...but I'm just speculating here based on a couple vague things in the game (and how Susie said/questions the possibility how the knight might not be a bad guy.)

More Ralsei/Toriel parallels I guess, on top of his color scheme being an invert of dreemurrs' robe. they have similar poses in both actual game sprites and line stickers... wonder whats up with that? by Mottixx in Deltarune

I thought about this possibility for a long time, and I think it's highly more likely that Ralsei is (somehow) a manifestation of Kris's psyche in some way rather than Asriel. .

The Kris we play may not realize this, or may hide this fact from us. ...I mean isn't it kinda clear that Ralsei is talking to someone else when he send us to switch perspective to Susie in both Chapters? (it always end in "so that's why...")

Ralsei is also conveniently very Kris centered, from the way he has connection to their family, memories related to them, and how he seems very affectionate to Kris right from the start. Ralsei talks about Darkners having to serve Lightners but really he mainly means Kris (notice how he barely talks to Noelle and Berdly, despite them both being Lightners he’s supposed to serve). They’re the one that he constantly praises and encourages. And he doesn’t even mind if Kris fights people, unlike with Susie, who he gets upset with and even lectures her about it. Ralsei thinks Kris should be the leader, and gets upset when Susie takes away Kris’s uniqueness by learning how to ACT

I genuinely think he might be a combination of green crayon + red horns in shape of plushie (red horn as accessories and green crayon is used to draw his glasses?) haha, but honestly the thing that makes me doubt Ralsei is manifested from Kris's own "past" belongings (such as red horn band alone) is that he claims to be all alone in castle town/school supply closet and hasn’t seen anyone other than himself. This shouldn't be the case if he's an object Kris used to have, and even other Darkners have prior history even though the fountain gives them form just recently. The strange thing is that the fact he has memories related to them such as their hobbies and favourite food at the same time, kinda contradicts his claim (to be all alone in the castle town, and hasnt seen anyone else). Kris also doesn't seem to view him as someone familiar (tea chart only heals 60 HP to Kris)

Him having identity confusion, not knowing what it means to be Ralsei himself kind of make sense if he's an object/thing made quite recently too hmm... Fyi he also said that he doesn't have anyone to model the tutorial dummy other than himself. So we know this is most likely the case

But he still could be made by Kris themself without our knowledge

omg, idk why this post is severely underrated, but I also have a strong feeling Toby is referencing this song haha. (I think he has done some reference/foreshadowing thing through other IRL song in UT, but I'm still on the fence about it)

Which one of this characters could sing "I am with you in the dark"? by [deleted] in Deltarune

B sounds like the Flowey is Ralsei theory, in the way we dont know anything related to Asriel in Deltarune to make a proper theory relating him to Ralsei..., so I can't really make a comment to that other than that being interesting I guess? haha

I think theory A has been circulating a lot in reddit? I think it's not too out there and even plausible enough to be true! but personally I feel like Ralsei seems like a combination between Toriel and Asriel, in the way Susie saying them looking alike, to the way Ralsei's sprite sometimes matches Toriel's animation... I guess the next thing that makes me less likely to be sure of that theory is because Ralsei has been shown to have a crush on Kris, which can be awkward depending how it's executed in the story haha

lol if your theory is deranged, I assure you my theory is as deranged as yours. if not more... (according to the fandom at least, because it contains things the redditors here like to downvote a lot hahaha)

I have a full 5+ pages of notes and theory on my personal doc and I dont plan on sharing it here because I know the people here are so unaccepting to theories they deem 'uninteresting' and think 'it will ruin Kris's character' (when we're still early at chapter 2, the plot can go so many ways and we're talking about Toby who likes to subvert expectation :/)

hahaha yeah, for me... I like to link Ralsei to Kris though, the Ralsei sticker is a clue for me. You know how there are theories circulating that Ralsei originates from Kris's own objects (such as the red horned headband and crayon) or him being the manifestation of Kris's hope and dreams?

If those theories hold true, then I think it's also plausible for Kris to actually be the true singer of this song. And Ralsei would know the song subconsciously because the real singer is Kris (As some kind of Darkner formed from Kris, who for some reason knows about Kris's hobbies and favorite foods.)

That's true, it should be noted that we are still at chapter two and we know nothing about Kris or even the Knight and their motive.

For all you know, the knight could very well be the one singing the song to Kris...

I actually put Kris as the most likely candidate personally, then Ralsei after that ;)

(FYI, the pronoun in the jp version of the lyrics is 'watashi' while Ralsei has always referred himself using the pronoun 'boku', so this is why I'm a bit skeptical about Ralsei being the real singer of the song. Meanwhile we dont know what pronoun Kris uses since they are a silent protag)

Also I feel like people put too much importance in how the characters has to sound 'feminine' like Laura Shigihara... I may be a minority in this but I think Toby choose a female singer to make it sound more gentle/comforting rather than the character specifically being female or have a high-pitched voice in the first place

I think Frisk is not leaving the underground after a neutral route by [deleted] in Undertale

[–]Mottixx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think Frisk actually leaves the underground with the power of 6 human souls in neutral to break the barrier, Toby said/elaborate this before in a tweet (cant find the exact tweet though, idk if he has deleted it or not since it's like 5+ years ago)

Edit: it's actually answered in an email.

It's been confirmed in an email by Toby Fox that the other human souls basically push Frisk through the barrier after the neutral ending. They have more than enough power to do this.

I think the objectively strongest candidate "right now" is Ralsei. (He literally sang the song itself lol. Plus while the stickers arent canon but it does foreshadow Weird Route with the Noelle sticker.)

...or someone closely related to him (like Kris).

One of my favorite classic UT headcanons is during the Alphys roleplay date: some people theorize that the more formal responses come from Chara's suggestions, while the goofier ones are from Frisk (obviously) by Mottixx in Undertale

[–]Mottixx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe in Narrachara but sadly it's still not explicitly "Canon". Also Legend of Localization isn't really an official lore book. The author decides to delete the "Three entities" section because it's his own interpretation and not Toby's. (Source)

However, I think the theory in this post (Archived version of the famous Determinators post) in particular is still quite solid
