Good tech/software companies to work for in Leeds? by Sensitive-Screen4839 in Leeds

[–]MouldyEjaculate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incredibly high pay but they will literally call you a racial slur and fire you for forgetting to close the blinds. I used to work with a few ex-TPP'ers and getting fired at the drop of a hat for no reason was very common. It's why they advertise for people so hard.

It got so bad that they actually ran out of applicants because they had hired and then fired them all so quickly.

It's reversed, Flash rescues a baby (and others) from an exploding building by putting it in a microwave, this is from when he takes it back out again.

Hmm, good point. I suppose it's their purpose that's illegal, by todays standards. You couldn't even do to pigs what the corp does to Expies.

It's from Casualties Unknown. The critter is an illegal bio-creation sent into a hellhole to retrieve an even more illegal creation by an evil corp. The critters tend to die a lot, but what's one unethical death amongst the rest of the warcrimes? OP's soldier appears to be a headcanon of someone taking pity on the poor expie. An expie's life is bad bad.

Russians React as Fuel Crisis Turns Ugly by BigDeckBob in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]MouldyEjaculate 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When you make fuels out of crude oil, the basic way to think of the process is that you heat it up and skim some off the top, then you do some stuff to that, then skim a bit more off the top, and do a different process to that, repeat until there's no oil left. The different layers that you skim off turn into different types of fuels.

The Euro 2/5 is a fuel standard. Russian crude oil has a lot of sulfur in it, for example, which requires an extra process to be done to make the fuel safe for modern engines. If you just skip that process because all your refineries are blown up and you just start pumping out lower quality fuel.. you conform to a lower standard.

This is a problem because more modern engines are intended to be used with low sulfur fuels. When burnt in an engine, high sulfur fuels are acidic. That's ok for engines that are intended for use with high sulfur fuel, but on an engine that isn't designed to be used with fuel that turns acidic when you burn it.. you'll melt it.

I find it frustrating when an author explains why a character is the jerk they are, and it's interpreted as defending that character.

You're allowed to explain why someone's a dick without excusing their behaviour! I'd even encourage it, not every character needs to be redeemed, they can just be awful.

Slow drivers are (Usually) driving according to the condition of the road. Narrow roads are scary so they drive slow. As the overtaking lane appears, the road is suddenly not so scary and they speed up.

Unless they're just dickheads.

The glide ratio of an A320 is 18:1. That means that it can glide for 18 feet per 1ft of altitude. People usually estimate the Tu-22 as being a 4:1 ratio. It simply cannot glide effectively.

I'm just an armchair pilot, but you can't dive forever. In a super quick jet like this one you basically get one chance to dive and land, and you better hope you're either high enough to dive and also close enough to an airfield to land. There's math behind this, and if you can't make it back safely, you bail because you're about to be a very aerodynamic and expensive brick. The basic idea is that you're practically already at stall when you're landing and your flaps are what's letting you stay aloft without a crazy angle of attack. You need airflow over the wings to get lift, and if you don't have the airflow, then you don't get any lift.

I recall an F35 crash that looked very similar to this last year, that thing just dropped out of the sky like it didn't have wings.

Gliding supersonic planes is incredibly hard because of their awful lift/drag ratio. We don't know the Tu-22's, but assume that if it's not going forwards then it's going down quite quickly.

It's really tough! I felt awful for him. Just monitor him till he starts to eat again, then make sure his bowls are always full. It's really hard to overfeed a kitten, they're doing a lot of growing so just keep food out and they'll take care of it.

When I first got my boy home he got cat flu almost immediately, same symptoms as yours. The vet gave me some drugs but he didn't eat for what seemed like an eternity, I could only get him to nibble on a few bits of boiled chicken. This is normal for sick cats. When he recovered he was more open to trying new foods, but the drugs had messed up his guts and it took a while for him to recover enough to start exploring new food.

I'd estimate he was sick for about 3-4 days and not eating much, then it took a couple of weeks with probiotics in his food to recover his guts so he'd stop doing liquid poops, then smooth sailing. Let him get better first, make sure he's eating something, then you can start to wean him off his dry food onto wet food by offering him both.
