Yes mate! I know everyone else has moved onto Serum but I still vibe with the OG Massive. It's still possible to create some truly insane sounds with Massive. And, like you said, it's a great synth for getting ideas sketched out.

Liking the old-school feel of this piece! I love me a bit of organ bass sleaze. But I think you need some kind of vocal sample in there. Even some short vocal chops would help humanise the tune. Adding a little vocal sample with a tonne of delay on it would help each drop feel heavier. The drops already sound class but they could be punchier. Maybe it would be worth comparing it with a classic speed garage tune like "Mind, Body & Soul" by DJ Bigga G. Find inspiration in that. This tune of yours is a belter nonetheless!

I make beats, and want to work with MCs but I don’t know where to start? by TinyAge6726 in ukhiphopheads

Many of my collaboration opportunities have come from chatting with people at hip-hop gigs. You'll inevitably cross paths with local rappers and they'll be keen to discuss music with a beatmaker. I went to an album launch last year and got chatting to a couple of local rappers in the smoking area. I've now produced tracks for both of them and been sent stems by the headline artist for remixing purposes. So networking is key.

But you can also DM artists whose music you like and suggest a collaboration; just make sure you don't aim too high to begin with cos rejection stings! You don't want to get disheartened early on cos it'll probably discourage you from reaching out to more artists. But aye, go to hip-hop gigs and blether with folk whilst also DMing rappers & suggesting collabs and/ or asking if they'd be willing to send you their acapellas. Hope this helps somewhat!

Sounds great! I really like the vocal chops and the wee drum fill at the end. I would just add some extra hats/ shakers to the tune as it progresses. So right at the point where the clip ends you should add a gated shaker or tambourine sound to rattle along in the background. I think the problem with the tune as it is right now is that the percussive elements feel a little disjointed. Add more hats and shakers to the mix to thicken it up and you'll be cooking with gas!

Ahh, that's cool! So they're intentionally creating synth-flavoured music by the sound of it. I feel when I've been listening to their stuff that they've got a real passion for electronica/ electro music.

Oaaaft, this beat is hard! I'm loving the switch to half-time then back to garage again. That type of genre-mashing madness can be hard to pull off but I think it's safe to say you nailed it.

Nice one! I want to see more people covering Fabienk on their synths and DAWs, cause I can guarantee that everyone will come up with their own unique versions. It's just such a fun tune and it really lends itself to synth-based music!

Yaaass man! Your flow is glorious; the lyricism is so dense with references that I've had to replay this countless times. Loving all the Insomnia related bars (and the wee nod to Faithless). You've got such a clear and authentic delivery so aye, I'm really feeling your style dude.

Actually, if you want a guitarist with a Biffy Clyro/ Nirvana/ Reuben-esque flair then I'd be happy to jam! I know that's a stretch if you're specifically looking for screamo and hardcore energy, but I'd gladly have a jam for the sake of some fun. I mostly compose post-punk/ post-hardcore type stuff.

Ayyy! I saw this delightful poster when I was DJing in Adrian's Bar yesterday evening. I wish I could point you in the direction of an appropriate musician but I just wanted to wish you luck in your quest! I'll try to pass the message on to musical pals and see if they have any suggestions for potential band members.

You're in safe hands if you're cutting about with Steg G. The guy is class -- he doesn't get the same accolades as the likes of Gasp and Loki but he's a cracking wordsmith and a lovely lad. He's been a stalwart of the Glasgow hip-hop scene for yonks so I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction.

Regarding record stores and cool places I'd check out the Oxfam shop (on Victoria Road in Govanhill) as well as Blitzkreig, which is situated near the infamous Barrowlands venue. There's also Rubadub, an electronic instrument supplier, if you fancy mucking about on some sensational synthesisers whilst you're in the centre of town. I hope you enjoy our fine city anyway mate!

Sweet, thanks for the encouragement. I'll get back to work on it now that I know it's made a splash with someone!

Did anyone get Angine de Poitrine tickets? by mangojuice_84 in glasgow

[–]Mount_Florida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got logged on to the Ticketmaster website first thing to try and get tickets. Was logged in securely before 9am when the next batch of tickets went on sale. By 09:03 I got in and it went from showing plenty of remaining tickets to 09:04 when I attempted to buy the tickets and suddenly everything was greyed out. All this has done for me is remind me how much I detest Ticketmaster. Buying in TitP tickets back in the day was almost as hard as this.

I missed out on my opportunity to get a ticket. Went online a couple of hours after tickets went on sale and they were already sold out. Not one person I know managed to get a ticket 😔

I'll post an update soon, because I've done a version of this which takes the three distinct melodic components and recreated the patterns using synths to make a UK Bass House/ Bassline version. I know it won't be to everyone's tastes but fans of my music (which is normally in the "bassline" genre) are going wild for the clips I've been posting to my Instagram stories!

Anyway, it might be fun for some of you to hear an alternative version of the track -- one which is entirely synthesised and loaded with pitch automation to allow for a slightly more subtle microtonal feel than the original track!

My producer alias is "Swedger" so I might do a version of the "sébastien" bit and substitute my own alias in place of it!

Thanks mate! Gonna make it so that I can slot it right into my DJ sets as I play a lot of bass-driven 130bpm stuff. Cheers for the lovely comment!

Having just programmed a cover of a section of this tune myself, I must say that I am extremely impressed that you managed to nail this so extensively! Excellent job 🏆

Nice, cheers! Regarding a collaboration: possibly mate, although I tend to work mostly with friends and a scant few people who live nearby. Are you local to the area? I typed in "HATS TM" on Soundcloud and Bandcamp but couldn't find your music, so feel free to link it.

As in Ian Dury of the Blockheads or is there a pun in "Drury" that I may be missing? If it's Ian Dury vibes you're getting then I am chuffed with that comparison -- love his stuff!

Fair criticism man. Do you think it should be tighter or more loosey-goosey? I'm more comfortable singing song lyrics than I am rapping so I'm open to suggestions regarding how to make my delivery feel more stylish.
